So since ps2s are dirt cheap now, ive been thinking of buying one with bmus and importing gold and happy sky and a swap magic. Right now, ive been mainly playing Lunatic rave and this crappy core remix machine. I just have a few (probably noobish) questions.
-Will the koc with bmus work with the japanese styles?
-In all gameplay vids ive seen, the notes are on the left side of the screen. Can you play on the right side of the screen with the turntable note on the right in the cs versions?
-If I buy a koc, whats the likeleyhood of the turntable being on the right?
-How are the kocs compared to the arcade buttons?

US KOC and JP KOCs are the same, the designs are just different.
You can play on the right by just plugging your controller into the 2P slot.
You can switch the turntable left and right, as there's an eject button on the controller itself so you can turn the keys around.
KOCs are nowhere near the feel of real arcade buttons.

You can switch the turntable? I never knew that. Can you explain how the differences between the two kocs?

The BMUS KOC has a rounded end at the turntable compared to the JKOC's rectangular one. The US one might also have a lower chance of sticky keys, but I'm not too sure of that.

I never experienced sticky keys on my USKOC ever since I got it in 2006, while my two JKOCs have gotten sticky keys in a matter of a few weeks.

Well I got a sticky key on USKOC, but I was able to just shake it out again. It's only happened twice though.

USKOCs never get sticky keys.
Also, the buttons on the USKOC are IMO far superior to the JPKOC, in their spring-loaded-ness, and the overall quality.
However the JPKOC has a MUCH better turntable, especially when slipmat-modded. So I got both and combined the two, using the US keypanel and the JP base/TT
Best controller ever, I can pass 10's and shit now.

The US KOC is great, you'll be fine with that. The keys work perfectly, and although they don't feel exactly like the arcade keys do, they're still the same size and stuff. Just the way that they react when you press them is different, and the sounds they make. Definitely slipmat mod your turntable, it's a LOT better that way. If you've got money to use, perhaps try what AceJay did?
