Welcome to Zenius-I-vanisher Battle Royale 2025: DropZone! In this contest, participants will submit files, play them all, and then vote to find out which are the best! This year’s contest is quite a bit different than previous years, so please be sure to read the rules carefully to ensure this is as exciting as it can be! Your mission, should you choose to accept it…
Each week, you will submit one simfile. The following week, everyone will rate the simfiles on a scale from 1 (worst) to 5 (best), with increments of 0.5. This year, there are a total of six submission weeks, split into three phases of two submission weeks each.
The contest itself will be run on the Z-I-v Contest Discord. The category in Z-I-v will still be used for simfile submissions, but everything will all be handled in the Discord. In fact, if you prefer not to use Z-I-v at all, you can even send your simfiles to forcednature, Ben Speirs, or Kikoia via Discord direct messages (DMs) instead!
To enter into the contest, join the Discord by clicking the icon below and send a message in the #br-signups channel under the Z-I-v Battle Royale 2025: DropZone category letting us know you intend to join!
“What’s this DropZone thing all about?!” you ask? Well, your direct competition will look slightly different this time around! At the start of Phase 1, there will be five zones indicated on the BR2025 map. Upon submitting a file, participants will be required to privately DM one of the mods which zone they choose to “drop” into. You can still publicly reveal your file, but make no indication of what zone you’re in otherwise you will be punished!

At the end of the submission period, it will be revealed who dropped in what zone, and from that point everybody in your zone alongside you is THE ENEMY.
Contestants must play and vote on ALL charts across all zones as per normal, however the average given score will only take into account the scores given to the participant’s fellow zone members. In turn, each zone will have its own standings (and cutoffs!) after each voting period. Depending on who lands where, these zones can turn into a BLOODBATH.
After the first round, participants must DM the hosts to indicate if they wish to stay in their zone or move a zone. However, the zone they wish to move to must be adjacent to the zone of their original choice.
For example, as per the map image:
- A player in Gloop Gauntlet after Round 1 could choose to stay there or move to HellYeahDude Hedges or Reddit Retreat.
- A player in Reddit Retreat after Round 1 could move to ANY other zone since their Zone is adjacent to all others.
This means that a participant who got unlucky in Round 1 is not necessarily stuck battling against the same pool for Round 2!
All participants will all begin the contest MAX HEALTH. Your goal is to place in the Top 50% of the Zone you are in, otherwise you will take damage and your status will change to SHIELDS BROKEN. If a participant takes damage a second time after the shield is broken, they lose the rest of their health and are ELIMINATED.
In Phase 1 there will be 5 zones in total.
In Phase 2, the number of zones will decrease from 5 to 3, and players can choose to redeploy into ANY zone regardless if it’s adjacent to the previous zone or not..
Phase 3 will have 2 zones to begin with and the option to redeploy anywhere once again, but will close into one final zone for the final round. Any surviving participants after Round 5 will all move into this final zone and it will be sudden death; whoever wins will be the ultimate winner of Battle Royale 2025: DropZone, and a theme-picker for Summer Contest 2025!
One last note, if you check your loadout…

Each participant has four items, each representing difficulties 16-19.
For each difficulty, you are only allowed to use them as your highest difficulty for a file once during the contest.

For example, participants are allowed one 17 chart as the highest difficulty in a file for the whole contest; if they wanted to submit another chart rated 17 for a different round, they must also submit an 18 or 19 in that same file and use the corresponding item. This only applies to Singles. Doubles charts are unaffected by the caps.
This means that if you want to submit harder charts, you must choose when to deploy them wisely! There may be opportunities to replenish your inventory but do not rely on this however.. Regardless, all files with a hardest difficulty of 15 and under are unlimited use and have no restrictions.
CONTEST RULES
1. If you submit a simfile for a round, you are required to vote for all of the simfiles for that round. If you fail to vote, you will receive no points for your simfile and will take damage accordingly.
2. You cannot vote for your own simfile.
3. You may submit only one simfile per round.
4. You must upload your simfile or send it to any of the Z-I-v Mods via Discord DM by the specified deadline.
5. You must participate in Phase 1 at least once to qualify for subsequent phases.
6. When uploading a simfile for a round, put the round number (e.g. Round 3) under "Section."
7. Due to the new formatting on Zenius-I-vanisher, if a duplicate song upload occurs please put the name listed in the official spreadsheets in round brackets (not square like usual!) after the full title of the simfile, even if it has a bracketed subtitle, like so:
TROOPERS (Benno) or Soumatou (The Last Song) (Benno)
TROOPERS (Kikoia) or Soumatou (The Last Song) (Kikoia)
8. If you've been banned from a contest in the past, we reserve the right to reject your entry into the current contest.
9. If you edit or delete your file during the judging period, we reserve the right to disqualify that file.
10. If there is a tie at one of the cutoffs, all tied players will advance to the next round.
11. Discussion on your selected Zones before the submission period closes will result in your song being removed from the pool of files and damage taken for that round.
SIMFILE RULES
1. Only one chart is required for a simfile. Only Singles charts are required. Doubles and/or lowers are a welcome addition!
2. The DDR X-Scale (1-19) will be used to rate chart difficulties for this contest. In order to submit a highest difficulty between 16-19, participants must use one of their single-use items upon submission for the corresponding difficulty.
3. DDR difficulty slot rating limits are enforced: Challenge may not go above 19, Expert may not go above 18, Difficult may not go above 16, Basic may not go above 13, and Beginner may not go above 9. No 20s.
4. If your simfile's hardest chart is rated 14 or higher, it MUST have a lower that is rated 13 or below.
5. Songs must be arcade length (under 2:30).
6. Simfiles must be pad files. No keyboard charts.
7. No auto-generated steps.
8. You must submit new simfiles for this contest. No previously released simfiles. If you are re-charting a song you have already released please make sure it is vastly different to avoid any comparisons and potential disqualification. It is highly encouraged to discuss this with a moderator first.
9. You must submit a simfile that has not previously been criticized / given any feedback. If in doubt, ask any of the Z-I-v Mods on Discord.
10. Submitted simfiles must not be critiqued / given any feedback until voting week begins. This is so that no one gains any unfair advantage. The one and only exception to this rule is asking for help with regards to Difficulty ratings.
11. Graphics are not required, but they are recommended. If you can't make graphics and don't have someone to make them for you, placeholder graphics are provided. (See Main folder at the top of the post)
12. If you are eliminated in Round 3 and have already submit a file to Round 4, your file is not DQ’d. You have ONE LAST CHANCE to be revived, and to do this you must place 1st in your Zone. Good luck! Unfortunately any eliminations in Round 5 will render your Final Round file out of the running.
VOTING
During each voting period, players will rate all simfiles featured in that round on a scale from 1 to 5 (excluding their own simfile, of course). Ratings are separated by intervals of 0.5. This means file ratings such as 2/5, 3.5/5, and 4.5/5 are valid, but no decimals other than .5 are allowed. The lowest valid rating is 1/5, not 0.5/5.
Please submit your votes to any of the Z-I-v Mods via Discord direct messages using the supplied Voting Template. Do not use the Z-I-v private-messaging system.
When voting please leave the box for your own simfile blank.
You can still vote on simfiles even if you’re not participating yourself! Grab the Voting Template and fill it out, but please be sure to have a vote for EVERY entry in that round or else your vote cannot be counted.
DO NOT PUBLICLY RELEASE YOUR FILE RATINGS PRIOR TO THE VOTING DEADLINE AND DURING THE LIVE RESULTS REVEAL. This could lead to the disqualification of your file.
Prior to the voting deadline, you may adjust ratings by contacting one of the Z-I-v Mods and letting us know what you intend to change. Unusual patterns of voting will be looked into at our discretion.
SCORING
At the end of each round of voting, each simfile will have a final average score (rounded to two decimal places), which is the average of every vote given to that simfile plus the average of the ratings that simfile's author gave to the other simfiles in their zone.
Your score will determine if you take damage for that round. The cut-offs to avoid damage are explained under the ‘Overview’ section of this post.
In addition, for any participant that still has MAX HEALTH in the Final Round, they will receive a bonus to their simfile score. This could make all the difference!
DEADLINE
Submission deadline for both simfiles and votes will be every SUNDAY at 7:00 PM UTC / 3:00 PM EDT (19:00 UTC). Results will be SUNDAY at 8:00 PM UTC / 4:00 PM EST (20:00 UTC).
