Last thing i heard about this was that they are catering to the keyboard players (so hand play) and possibly adding a mode for pad play if they have the development time for it. After that they went dark and haven't said a word.

They had an in-person "pattern preference test" some weeks ago and iirc they asked for players with experience on PC rhythm games (the form had a section to submit score proof if I'm not wrong, but that can't be checked now). To me that makes it sound more like it's leaning towards being it's own thing (hence the focus on hand play) but with PIU branding and music, rather than fully mirroring the arcade gameplay experience (though there's always the possibility of the testing resulting in that changing).
