Yeah, Voltississimo back in 2022
idk why but for about a year or so I'd convinced myself my first song was actually Triple Cross? Looked through my phone and Voltiss was my first actual score photo, though.

BOOM BOOM DOLLAR on US PS1 Edition.
That was when I was in high school back in 2001 and one student volunteered to set up the PlayStation with the softpads, then I followed in his footsteps around 2005 up to 2011.

I want to say mine was Take on Me in the US SN2. It was at my local YMCA, where I first discovered DDR back in 2008.

The earliest memory I have of playing any particular DDR song was... well, pretty much the first song: Have You Never Been Mellow, on a 1stMIX machine in Wildwood, NJ in summer 2002. I remembered failing it -- yes, one of the easiest Basic charts of all time... although in retrospect, I may have actually been playing on Easy Mode, which limits you to one song, pass or fail.
My first dance game experience overall was on a Pump It Up Premiere (EX?) machine months beforehand, but I can't remember what song(s) I played then. I do definitely remember beefing them, though.

Onegai Darling on a DanceDance Revolution A machine. It was at the Culver City Dave and Busters, and on the rainy day December 4th 2022. I think I had palyed on a DDR machine earlier back in June 2022, but I dont remember the song. I have some footage of the first time I really started playing DDR.
More info: Happy Synthesizerwas the first DDR song I recorded playing along with There’s suppised to be a cheat code to happiness right after. And I remember the machine I played at in June 2022 being at Circus Circus’s Adventure Dome. I think I also remember Pop’n music being there too for some reason.

The Whistle Song (Blow My Whistle Bitch) on a Max 2 machine in a truck stop somewhere on the way home from a vacation on the east coast. I remember thinking how crazy it was that the other people were playing songs on crazy high difficulty, and me and my sister played one song and left. A year or so down the line I had this weird idea that maybe that game would be available to buy on some kind of system and asked around and found out that it was on PS2. Me and two friends played hookie (literally the only time I ever did) and my dad drove us up to the nearest town with a GameStop and we purchased DDR Max with a pad. I've been wildly addicted since. I used to play every day either at home or driving up to the arcades in Springfield MO, or eventually to STL, KC, and Kirksville for lots of tournaments. I still play any time I find a machine, or if I drive up to KC to their Round 1, but all the machines near me, including my Solo 2000, are no longer operable. I've debated making a Stepmania machine multiple times, but always had very bad luck with big metal pads.
