"five minute white boy challenge"
Midnite Blaze, actually. Weird, cuz I frankly ain't a fan of that song, but it was on a demo disc with one of the PS2 Dancing Stage releases (I think it was Max? I dunno, I'm not looking up which PS2 Dancing Stage games had the song) that I got in like 2004 or something.
Quote: Quick Man
Approximately nobody asked for this song to be included. Least popular decision by the Japanese since Nintendo released the Wii U.

Jam Jam Raggae Basic on a DDR USA machine in early 2006.

The song was terrible and I failed horribly. It’s a wonder I ever found the courage to play the game again.

"After the Game" from DDR Konamix for PS1. Once I played that enough times and got to level 3, enabling me to play bangers like "Absolute" and "AM-3P," I knew my life was changed forever.

It was definitely something on Konamix at a friend's house, but the song names were mostly a blur to me back then. One that sticks out to me as a favorite was "ABSOLUTE", though back then I misremembered the title as "ABSOLUTION".

"now led_light for short"
From what I remember, it was most likely Have You Never Been Mellow on DDR for NA PS1. Either that or Boom Boom Dollar, both were memorable picks.

I think my first song was from HOTTEST PARTY 1, though I don't know if it was Lesson By DJ first in Groove Circuit Mode or if it was one of the licenses in regular play.

Probably end of 2003.

Dream A Dream, on DDR MAX 2 US.

Funny story about that, my sister and I always wanted to play a DDR game that had Captain Jack (the song) on a game after finding out it was in DDR, but a speed remix of the original song. We seen someone play it on a DDR Extreme cab, but we couldn't afford playing it at the time. Eventually, we got DDR MAX 2, which was the first ever DDR game we played. We almost gave up on that dream of finding Captain Jack until DDR Extreme 2 came out in 2005, and boy was that game a gem. Anyways, on DDR MAX 2, we saw the words "Captain Jack" but realized it was just another song by the same artist, then we became Captain Jack fans. Good times...
How you doin' Lord Toon? Thanks for the banner.

"Prepare for disappointment"
That is a very hard question. I've been playing since I was 6, so that would be since 2003. However, I believe the first song I got a AA on was either Heaven or Ghosts on Beginner in MAX2. Ran into my sister's room and woke her up in excitement haha.

Visited this site again after some years and I miss it. Anyway, here's my answer:

My age was probably around 5 to 8 years old when I first encountered a DDR machine and that was in the late 90s to the early 2000s. The 2nd mix was the popular installment that time, like tv shows from where I live even held contests for DDR matches. Moreover, some pros were occupying the machine but were willing to play with casuals like me that time. Ofc, I sucked and didn't know how the game works and I felt like butting in with one pro player there dancing to either Dub I Dub or Hero.

I don't remember exactly which song was the very first I ever tried, but it was something on USA or 3rd Mix, and was probably something that was too hard to start with, making me fail almost immediately, I reckon maybe End of the Century or Dead End or Dynamite Rave if not one of the PARANOiAs... maybe Stomp to my beat or BRILLIANT2U?
