While it's not terribly likely, a UI refresh with new play options and various updates/fixes behind the scenes but no actually new content at the jump isn't impossible, technically.

I'm really excited for this! But at the same time I'm keeping my expectations low.

Seeing Konsento and Zukin stitched into Emi's and Rage's art makes me SO happy they're still referenced. Hopefully they're brought back as actual characters and not just cameos like in ANNIVERSARY's jacket and that Challenge chart event way back A20.

I agree with the idea of changing the announcer. Not only is it annoying, but it is wildly outdated as fuck. "Training Mode" still being mentioned in the era of no Training Mode really irks me. If it is a new English announcer, maybe it will be like the ones in Dance Rush or in jubeat Ave and beyond. If it's a Japanese one, possibly a female one like in pop'n music and Sound Voltex.

I don't really see any issues with the UI, so I honestly hope they retain it.

Damn I can't believe they changed the font of the DDR logo now.

I would be willing to bet they lean even more into being like Sound Voltex and they give us voiced, Live2D announcers of Emi and Rage

People are saying that the characters resemble a section of each era of DDR as Emi resembles more 2013ish and Rage resembles his 3rd mix/4th mix design. Plus team logos too.

I'd rather there be no announcer, however I don't mind the current announcer only because they've been the same for so long that it's easy to block them out. If there was a new one it'd become a lot more distracting not being used to the new voice clips.

That would be easier for me to do myself if they didn't feel the need to make every frickin' line a rhyming couplet. I envy your willing ignorance.

That aside, I think now would be a good opportunity to revamp the Groove Radar. Maybe remove VOLTAGE or merge it with STREAM; add a new category for BPM changes/stops, one for crossovers and other such techniques?

The thought of a category for BPM changes/stops and one for technique has been on my mind recently as well.

The thing that bothers me most about the X-and-newer announcer is the "We're dancin', we're groovin', so keep that body movin'!" jingle that he sings at a different BPM than whatever song you're trying to play.

As much as I don't like the current announcer, at least they dropped the cringy dialogue like "whick-whick-whickity wack" and "This ain't b-ball, but that was a nice pick, dawg". There's still some cringy dialogue but it's not as bad as it was.

That's the worst line among the announcer, especially for songs with vocals. There's clearly someone singing then this announcer sings loud, out of tune and completely distracting.

A whole lot of words to say basically nothing new. (Drinking game: Take a shot every time they say "venerable".) GameRant is right in that they really should be announcing a global release, but again, with how Konami's been treating fans outside of Japan, who knows if they actually will?

Well, holy shit, they actually updated the character designs and they actually look like they belong in 2024 instead of the mid 2000s. Thought the day would never come.

- Icons to indicate in song has BPM changes and stops
- Display option to make arrows appear like in Hou
- More utilisation of the numpad in the menu
- Return to song select from the difficulty select screen

I hope to god they do not use generic static backgrounds or some shit for gameplay that would make this look waaay too stepmania like.
