That's odd, I was watching echospherics' stream and the video was playing in his game. Perhaps they also added the function of completely removing videos during gameplay?

Speaking of videos, I also noticed during their stream that they seemed to have brought back the DDR SELECTION videos too. At least PARANOiA's seems to rotate between its Extreme 2 vid and its DDR SELECTION vids (and perhaps it's the same for the songs that have more than one video, like B2U and MAX 300)

I was about to say the video is also still there in yuisin's video he took of the chart in GRAND PRIX. Must just be an option in WORLD to turn it off.

That Holic chart is dope and I can’t wait to try it. Paranoia Evolution is the kind of chart that has me excited to not play this game at that level.

Kind of weird that only Paranoia Evolution got a new crazy challenge chart, it’s hardly the most memorable of the Paranoias.

For some reason, ParaEvo Challenge has kinda similar pattern to DEGRS and Reiwa, pretty good and fun at Heavy, then messed up at Challenge
And Konmai never learn from those

Also, Ubertreffen Challenge surprisingly okay. Maybe missed opportunities like Diavolo Challenge on some hard parts, but overall works pretty well with piano chords. Not all Challenge need crazy patterns to break your legs, so it's fine

Other Challenge are pretty solid, especially Flowers (which is best so far)

Also, nobody's talking about those three songs ? ikagura_nex debut could crossover pretty well in DRS at near future. The other two had pretty good easy charts on Heavy. Metomate one needs Challenge since they got pretty intense percussion part at second half

Anyone else notice BE LOVIN's video was absent?
Actually, is this an option now to choose whether to display the BG video or not? I noticed that the BG videos were in full-screen, so I wonder if you can turn them off completely.

Aside from the Challenge being a bit crazy, I always liked ParaEvo. Aside from ETERNAL, it was one of the last Paranoias before the Survivor versions in Extreme which got Challenge charts. Who knows, maybe we'll get one for -Respect- at some point, too, or perhaps Rebirth.

Paranoia Respect doesn't give much to make a Challenge chart, without being as stupid and insensible as Evo's new Challenge chart, given its a 16 on Heavy.

Other Challenge are pretty solid, especially Flowers (which is best so far)

This is definitely the best CSP chart added in the update for me, with Holic as a close second. Flowers is just really bouncy and fun to execute. Doesn't follow the music quite as well as the ESP, but it flows way better. Similar feeling to Flip Flap where there's so little tech but the steps feel crispy.

Holic's only second because the footswitch pattern doesn't continue into the rest of the chart. The decision to not mark them with tiny freezes seems deliberate since executing them as jacks only leads to 180 crossovers and never spins - always a really cool feature to reduce ambiguity. You could even sideswitch some of the triplet patterns if you want to be fancy.

Be Lovin is good overall and makes cool references to the original Expert, but I don't vibe with the spins in the middle. The stepjump spam is funny and good training for those kinds of patterns for longer stretches or higher BPMs. It's very high note density for a 15, and it would probably be a 16 if the song was longer.

Ubertreffen's really uneven and could be more consistently difficult with lower peak twisting speed. I agree with the decision to make it a twist-focused chart at that BPM over jump spam or some other gimmick, but I think the 270 turns could be toned down outside of the slower 8ths sections.

Paranoia Evolution is a more brutal version of Lightspeed CSP at the same BPM. It feels kind of amateurish by modern DDR charting standards. I was hoping for a 17 or low 18 with more focus on raw footspeed and switching between standard and crossed-over drills. The CDP is probably better as a 19. It's comparable to Valkyrie dimension CDP, trading some peak technical difficulty and total notecount for higher BPM and a vicious ending.

Of the *new* songs...

Igaku is good musically and chart-wise. Sasuke Haraguchi consistently uses interesting rhythms and effects. I'd be happy seeing more of their work in DDR so long as they keep things fresh.

Mesmerizer doesn't do anything for me musically. It's standard Hatsune Miku fare at a higher BPM. The chart is solid and could catch you off-guard with some of the rhythms. There's room for a more unrelenting Challenge chart here in the future.

Rabbit hole is another addition not for me. Just okay music, solid chart. The ESP is pretty damn taxing for a 15 and may get rerated to a 16 on pass/fail stamina grounds. Only mildly tricky part at a glance is the triplets that are immediately followed by a jack and the slowdown, which comes out of nowhere on a sightread.

Ohisashi chuukagai! is... also okay. More piano is appreciated, but the song structure and melodies are generic. I don't think I'll remember that this song is in the game a week from now. The ESP 12 is well made but also unremarkable.

Dance and Death is tied with Igaku for music quality and my desire to listen to it outside of DDR. The "Get it right! Get it right!" sample threw me for the loop because it's the first time I heard it outside of Babypowder - Bossy from the Club Fantastic pack. The ESP and EDP 13 charts for them are also very good - sparse enough to leave room for Challenge charts but don't feel too undercharted.

Metomate is also good musically, but the chart is pretty milquetoast. I don't think giving it a 10 was the right call. The Expert should have been the Difficult chart, and another Expert chart could have been added as an intermediary to a later Challenge chart. There are *so* many complex rhythms and drum fills that go underutilized that you could reasonably end up with a 10 Expert and 16-18 Challenge.

Not sure whether this or My Drama is the most undercharted Heavy to make way for the inevitable Challenge we've gotten out of Golden/World League.

I don't wanna hear about undercharted no more. This looks just right to me and looks fun as hell. That jump after the mega speedup is devious though, those scoundrels!!

I'll concede that "undercharted" was the wrong term to use. I'm not saying it doesn't look fun! I think I'm just tired of the pattern of us having to wait 2-3 years for the Challenge charts to these songs when my monkey brain hears them and goes "but imagine what they could put in here!"

The ADVANCE BORDER introduced in A3 is still there. You can access the new song if you are currently in the GOLD league with 500000+ LEAGUE SCORE.

I can see how it is frustrating to someone wanting to play a 16 or 17 when a chart gets a 15, but ultimately this is better for the game in the long term if a song's difficulty spread is something like 5/9/13/15 with a 17 coming later than to get something like 9/13/15/17.

I really love the first 2/3 parts of the song. Pretty classic hardstyle, has some Russian (?) vibes style (I suppose?). For 190 bpm parts.. I just don't feel it idk why. Sounds pretty randomly mashing up in kind of messy ways
