DanceDanceRevolution WORLD (AC)

The song selection in WORLD so far has been a mixed bag for me. I'm enjoying the BEMANI crossovers, most of the instrumental 25th anniversary songs, and experimenting with weird things like Hito mania, but there's a deluge of pop-y songs with lyrics that blend together for me in a 12-14 Expert difficulty slurry.

Loli-kami requiem just seems bizarre to include in a professional, public product, but I'll chalk that up to cultural differences in Japan, and it seems to be seeing a lot of playtime so it was the right business decision.

The charts are very solid so far. Baseline quality on release seems higher than A3, and patches were quickly issued to fix any errors that cropped up. The effort to resync songs properly is also welcome, especially with old monsters like NGO (well, the second time around). I want to congratulate the current person or team of people working on the WORLD charts for not having any clear misses so far, as least in the Expert/Challenge charts that I've tried.

If I do have one chart criticism, it's that there still aren't many middle/uppers charts with little to no jumps. There are only 2-3 charts I could find above a 12 that have single-digit jumps. It might be wise to include some more 12-15 charts with low jump count to offer older, inexperienced, or less fit players a bridge into that difficulty range with a lower stamina (and knee tax) requirement. More charts like BREDLI, Snow Garland Fairy, Double Tornard, or Come to m1dy can help as difficulty bridges and build stamina without being as violent on the body.

Neat! Kinda wish we were getting the rest of the MYSTICAL STRIKE songs at some point, though - I'd love to play Giant Strength or Proluvies in DDR.

It's sad that they couldn't fully get the band back together because P*Light is part of HARDCORE TANO*C.

idr if there was a dedicated thread to the Mini cabs but it got released and we have some (cursed, you'll see why) footage:


just some notes/observations:
- these are straight up konami-supplied builds so i'm almost certain everything in each mix is intact, BUT any song that wasn't confirmed to be licensed in previous announcements have a message apologizing that these songs can't be played;
now technically you can like play them but no audio will be played, so you'll just be tapping the steps to silence, Take Me (2010) style 💀
- since these are legit (albeit altered) builds, 1stMIX also actually uses the original 1998 build (though I do believe IR songs are included) instead of the IR version, making it even more accessible than ever since the original release to play the game before the IR changes
