I really thought we'd just move on to A4.

Geez, I hope the color scheme in-game isn't this GREEN, it's better than Extreme's, which was just DDR: Asparagus Mix, but still.

Anyway, let's see what they're doing with this WORLD title. The pessimist in me says probably nothing important.

Part of me really wants to believe there's actually a reason it's called world and they are trying to actually release this in a balanced way world wide, possibly driven by the fact SMX is pushing everywhere (exactly the same way when ITG sparked Supernova to be worldwide)

More realistically it's just them not wanting the A series to be an ongoing thing and it'll be just as exclusionary as every other mix has been to people outside of Japan and some places in the US.

The art style kind of looks.. AI..? or is it just me. I do really like it though, Emi and Rage looks cool af.

Rage reminds me of Yoshimitsu from Tekken.

Alright here comes the speculation post as usual.



Lets start with EMI, Style completely changed from previous DDR games.(Obviously)
Emi has a Cat Girl hoodie now. (nice)
On Emi's Left leg there are decals on her pants with Robo2000(NON-HUMANS ARE BACK?)/Konsento, A DDR pad Layout(?) and something that represents Green Blue and Yellow. The image is cut off at this point to see.

On Rages side, he has the same exact arrow decal as Emi, a Maniac decal, a no punching decal(?) and in the back you can see Queen/Devil Zukin but it looks like cat ears on her.
At the bottom of Rage you can see a foot rate for a song under "Maniac" plus a "HO" Necklace.
On top of the Maniac decal you can also see an old background animation from 573 era of DDR, The only song i can think of that has it is the old background animation from 4th mix/Extra Mix for DropOut.

While i am pointing out the obvious, what do i think this means??
Well this is pure speculation that i think there is some kind of team system coming to this version of DDR or the "events" are gonna be centered around these events.

Like help team Robo2000, or Help team Zukin or whatever other teams there are.

I am looking hard into it, i know i shouldn't be but it could just mean there could be old content coming back from the 573 era games. (Before Expert was called Heavy)

Seeing as this will be my first ever version update I will able to get to play day one, I'm hype none the less, and this also means that Hou and the extra exclusive songs should soon be able to be played in normal gameplay.

Enjoy it, man. That's how I felt when A20 came out. Discovering all the new songs for myself instead of seeing videos of them was fun. But now, I haven't even been able to play A3 yet.

Am I the only one who thinks Rage looks completely different? Like I thought he was some brand new character until I looked at the teaser website that says it's him.

Yes and no. Rage absolutely looks completely different, but so does Emi, and until I noticed her name on her design I thought she was new; but once I noticed the girl was Emi I immediately associated the guy as Rage.

I speculated a new mix release, and now I feel vindication.

Let's see how the promotional event turns out for A3; hopefully DDR WORLD will drop immediately afterwards. That way, A3 can be supported on Eagle.

Normally I'd complain about the radical change in art style like I did when they anime'd pop'n, but this is such a fucking welcome change of pace from what we've been stuck with since... what, 2006 now??

The drastic design difference is perfect grounds to move to new announcer(s). Hell I could see getting Londell Taz Hicks back for a new suite of lines.

Edit: Oh, and possibly 120hz plz? Playing Grand Prix on my OLED at home is so good at 120fps.

I literally just mentioned this to someone else and wholeheartedly agree. It gives me hope that they are finally ditching the 3D models that are nearly twenty years old at this point.

I’m overall excited for World, but the cynic in me is assuming that R1 will be the only way to play it officially in the US. I feel especially bad for people who only have access to A20+ cabs since their data likely won’t carry over to World without carrying over to A3 first. Really really hope Konami gives it an official release in Europe and North America, but I doubt it. Would love to be wrong

AMEN!!! Please God change the announcer! We've had this same one for 15 years now. I think most of [us] aren't a fan of the Ozomatli announcers that took over, and yes, it would be a welcome return if they could get Londell back with new lines, or re-recorded ones. His delivery was perfect, and even the cheesy ones came off way better and not cringy (like now...eesh).

I'm sure we'll get a new UI and song wheel -- didn't like the A to A3 wheels. Just seemed kinda jumbled together and a bit distracting. I personally loved the album cover wheels from X to X3.

Also, I may be in the minority here, but I'd love it if we got background vids for songs instead of dancers, so if they went back to the MAX-EXTREME era of bgvids or movies, I'd be absolutely pleased. Maybe HD versions of the old ones, of course some new ones and unique movies for all songs like what was done for DDR EXTREME 2 US (always loved those).
Or maybe give us the option to select a dancer if we want one.
