Round1 FVM is doing a test, right now!
https://arcadeheroes.com/2023/02/22/bandai-namcos-taiko-no-tatsujin-goes-on-test-in-the-usa/?fbclid=IwAR0hBkHdG2BRmz28Z7eHx-GeAePoMzAecCb69Apn0YDbvKE8a8PfN6w4jvE
No card reader support, and a small songlist, obviously, but everything is in English.
If it works out, soon Round1 won't have to deal with old, beat-up taiko drums anymore. ;)

Yooooooooo. Definitely gonna have to go check it out. Absolutely love Taiko, and since I'm in the area, I'll give it a try. Hoping it's not gonna be exclusive to Round1 FVM, though. I would love to see them in other Round1 locations.
I'm gonna guess they're gonna move the location test soon to Round1 NRS? My cousins go there, and since it is specifically in Illinois, that's the only other place I can think of.
Either way, this is absolutely awesome. Gonna have fun checking it out. Thanks for sharing!

If this fails the location test in the USA this might be the last time we see a Taiko No Tatsujin in English.

It gets fairly regular releases in English on the PS4/5 and Nintendo Switch, as well as the version currently on Xbox & PC with GamePass.

A game can leave GamePass and still be available (Which this one is). It's just a Netflix-style service. The game is available to purchase, or you can play it with the subscription if available.

I think you should explain it further.

You can still play it though but DLC will end. I know the arcade game is on test but many people are thinking this might work.Post #11 · Posted at 2023-06-14 04:28:52am 1.5 years ago

Welp, lets see how long they last in the hands of drunken adults smashing down as hard as they can on the machines.

- Bandai Namco was really impressed and very happy with how well the location tests did.
- They were originally aiming to begin operations for Taiko in the US this summer.
- At the time, they were figuring out how to handle network fees (i.e. charge separately for network and content updates vs. bundling them together in one fee)
- US cabs to be produced domestically.
- Plan (or goal?) is to be able to sell these cabs to anyone (via distributors).

So, sounds like Namco is gonna make Taiko available to anyone who wants the game, and not just for Round1 locations, and having them made locally will mean they won't be super expensive to purchase compared to importing one.

I’m really happy this is happening finally, surprised it took as long as it did since the console releases in NA have seemed to do pretty well. It’s also nice to hear they won’t be around 1 exclusive. With that being said, I think it’s really strange that it won’t have Banapass support, I really hope that gets implemented at some point. And I also noticed Bandai Namco Amusement America’s Twitter account hasn’t said a word about it either
