Update 2024-02-25 (SimpleHold and X Fix)
Changelog:
- Implemented new SimpleHold system to all noteskins (Thanks Jousway <3) (Only available on OutFox)*
- Remade and optimized the X ACSII shape to better match the current one.
- Updated X PSD to match the current one.
- Added a "--Legacy" folder, this one has the noteskins with the new X shape but without the SimpleHold implementation.
*This new system is a bit complicated to explain because it does so much, but in this case, this should fix the weird animation at the end of the holds when playing in reverse mode. Remember, this system is currently OutFox exclusive, but it has a fallback implemented to use the old system on other SM builds that doesn't support it, but if you still having problems with it, please use the legacy version on the github
Welp. I think this will be the last update for a good while, because i can't seem to find any more things to do with them, so if that is the case, thanks to everyone for your valuable feedback and support in this little project, and thanks to everyone on the credits list for helping me out getting this project going.

Thank you for your work on those, they are amazing. Especially the rolls!
And for those who are wondering what is the difference between DEFAULT and CLASSIC - look at the shape of arrow. Full arrows (on the left above) are DEFAULT, the ones with small cut on the right are CLASSIC.

Man, proper roll animations, proper shock arrows, they aren’t transparent in the middle, these are awesome.

So I finally got around to trying these out, and on the Note variants of the Classic noteskins I'm noticing that on some slower songs the 8ths (blue) and 16ths (yellow) are really hard to see at some points and it's inconsistent in which 16th's it does this to but also consistently the same notes in the song each time. Like Battle Without Honor or Humanity from US PS2 SuperNOVA has it really bad with the 16ths. Bag has it kinda bad but not as bad with the 8ths. The 4ths (red) and everything else (green) are always super vibrant no matter what BPM the song is. On more "normal" BPM songs the blue and yellow notes look super vibrant with the rest.
Also, someone here a long time ago posted a "drag and drop" 5th mix explosions file ("Down Tap Explosion Bright 4x4") and I'm not sure if it's intentional or not but something in these noteskins overrides it but other noteskins I've added it to in the past it worked just fine.

Tried these noteskins and wow they are so beautiful and nice to use! However, I do wish the Rainbow note coloring was more accurate to the arcades:
So let x be the beat number:
x.001 - x.250 = pink
x.251 - x.500 = blue
x.501 - x.750 = purple
x.751 - x.000 = orange
The left side bar in the image above is what I want imitated in the rainbow noteskins, except we replace the top purple section with a pink section. Basically the progress note coloring type instead of denominator.
I was wondering if the Rainbow note coloring could be done this way since DDR officially colors the Rainbow arrows this way too?

i i thing that the issue you're saying it because of the low BPM, that's because it's linked with the arrow animation. To be completely honest, i looks great on my end and i compared to the noteskins made by Razorblade and i cant see the difference.
About the 5th mix explotion, i've never heard of them, so i dont really know how those work, maybe its because the explosion handling it's on the metrics.ini while this ones use the fallback explosion.ini.

to be completely honest with you, i don't know how to translate that into the texture, maybe because i'm stupid or something lol.

Update 2022-09-25
Changelog:
- Changed the texture of the receptors to work under the "doubleres" function to fix some weird issues.
- Added temporary* fix to reverse freeze sustains (thanks to Jousway for the help <3)
*there's a known issue that happens because of this fix where, on small freeze sustains, it doesn't disappear correctly, that's why this is a temporary fix until i find a better solution.
Update 2022-09-26 (HOTFIX)
Changelog:
- Reverted back to "Res" function and re-aligned all the receptors.
- Deleted old textures (whoops)
I'll end up with nightmares cuz of the X ones, but it's getting there

I'm actually working on some variations of these skins, is there an easy way to make roll/hold heads just be the regular animated arrows instead of the static sprites?

given that, on the ITG noteskins it shows the animation it seems that its possible, but i really don't know how to do that at the moment.

The noteskins crash OutFox! Any possible fix? (In the meantime, I'll just use Peter's noteskins.)

hmm, thats weird. i tested the noteskins on the lastest outfox release and works just fine.
Also, the X and Cyber update will take a bit more time than anticipated. The person that is helping me with the Milk Shape part of the noteskins is having some irl problem and that, combined with work, has let him with no time to do anything related (kinda like me about a month before), so im hoping to get that update ready before the end of the year, but no promises (irl stuff first).

I might have figured out how this works (?). The way yuisin did it is that he made his noteskin have only 4 colors for the rainbow noteskin tap note sprites (orange, pink, blue, purple) and then have HoldHeadNoteColorType=Progress and TapNoteNoteColorType=Progress in the metrics.ini file under [NoteDisplay]. The Tap Note parts (mipmaps) images in yours have 8 colors.
Also, don't worry, you'll be fine! Just take care of the IRL stuff first, that's important.

MAJOR Update 2023-03-16 (CYBER AND X)
Changelog:
- Added Cyber and X noteskins
- Added new explosion and animations made by the absolute legend Pete Lawrence
- Re-made all textures possible to support HD resolutions (up to 4K i believe)
- Changed name structure for future compatibility with Curilang's DDR A3 theme option ;)
- Added Base PSD of the noteskins on github
- Added "Progressive" animation style to all Rainbow variants.
- A BUNCH of "under the hood" changes and code optimization.
Welp. The Cyber and X update is finally out, and with that a bunch of changes to textures and code to make it the most faithful possible to the original. Seriusly guys, I'm really sorry for the constant delay, believe me that i was working since day one with this stuff, but work and personal issues really really pushed this update way longer than expected. I really hope you guys enjoy this project.
