"Wish I could change my username"
Such a shame to see the DanceStages system not be supported anymore, especially considering the fact I designed my own simfile pack around the DanceStages system. Hopefully the new Course Mode turns out great!

Nintendo Switch Friend Code: SW-2602-0918-1312
"ムーン ゴーシュス メヂィデーション"
Another missed function: FLARE Levels.

If add the FLARE levels to the theme...

DefaultFailtType, I use this option in any StepMania and it works perfectly. Could it be an ITGMania issue? We will check it too.

Which version? I tried it on 5.0.12 and always get an error that the version isn't compatible with the theme and only works for ITGMania and Outfox. Dead

DangerScreen, Caution and Instructions screens, it is not an issue but those are default setings for "Home" theme, but I could do this for this theme. Smile

I recently installed ITG Mania and also downloaded this theme. I thought I was crazy but after playing a few times I noticed the following.

For some reason some of the options do not work (or work at random times).

- Default Fail Type: I have it set up at "End of song" but still fails as soon as I fail.
- Fast load: It's set to "on" but still takes forever to load the songs.
- Danger screen: Set to "hide" but still shows
- Caution and instructions: Set to "hide" but still shows them.

These are the settings I used with the default ITG Mania but they don't work with this theme.

Am I the only one having this issue?

Thanks!

I can confirm Default Fail Type is not working properly, no matter which I chose. I'm using SM5.1-new (20230412).

Another missed function: FLARE Levels.

If add the FLARE levels to the theme...

At the time the theme was first created, Flare Gauges weren't a thing.

And something tells me that it may be hard to implement without a change to the SM code itself to allow it. I may be wrong on that last one, though.

I got the latest version working on Outfox about a week ago with the DanceStages system. I had to manually set the character I wanted in the A3 Custom Options menu.

Hello! I followed Fesonic25's tutorial on YouTube to install the dance stages + characters on Outfox and it is working normally apparently, except that the dance steps are changing the speed randomly, take a look:

https://drive.google.com/file/d/1Svex-tQWhVdYCpB6uhp1HepgsESJXIUk/

It happens in every song I've tested. This bug doesn't happen with the Starlight theme nor in Stepmania 5.1 new though, so it seems to be an issue with DDRA3 and Outfox, or this whole pack made by Fesonic.

I prefer to use DDRA3 because it seems faster than Starlight here, and it also supports the cut-in designs, so you really seem to be playing a modern DDR game.

It would be good if that this issue were fixed with Outfox, or if you readded support for dance stages in Stepmania 5.1 new too.

Thank you so much for your great work.

Thank you so much for your fast reply. I was able to fix it by doing the step 2 in input options. Curiously I don't have this issue using Stepmania 5.1 new, so it seems to be an issue with DDRA3 and Outfox.

Now I wonder how user-friendly this will be when using a dance mat to navigate the menu, because we are very used to doing that by using the arrows in the mat, at least in the home versions of DDR. Even in the computer I don't have the habit of using the del/end/pgdn/pgup keys to do that, so it's been very strange to do that. Isn't it possible to work-around this issue in a future update?

Anyway, I think this is unrelated, but there is a bug in the joy mappings menu in Outfox, the columns are a little scrambled, take a look:
https://imgur.com/7LHatY7

In Stepmania 5.1 new it is perfect, see here:
https://imgur.com/DBS8p4T

But in Stepmania you cannot take a screenshot in full-screen mode., which is weird. I had to take this screenshot in windowed mode...

I also found another issue in Outfox in which the freeze arrows disappear a little before their full extent in the screen. I don't have this issue in Stepmania 5.1 new.

Hopefully all this will be fixed soon (or we could have dance stages supported in Stepmania 5.1 new again...)

Thank you so much again for your help and work.

I ran into the exact same issue since I was testing this theme with a gamepad, and I can totally understand how annoying it might be when selecting the songs from the dance pad itself. Luckily, the solution is very simple: open your Outfox / Stepmania installation folder, then go into Themes (Appearance, then Themes if using Outfox), then open the DDR A3 folder, then open the metrics.ini file with a text editor.

All you have to do is change this part:

[ScreenGameplay]
CodeNames="SpeedUp,SpeedDown,AppearancePlusHarsher,AppearancePlusEasier,AppearancePlusShow"
CodeSpeedUp="MenuRight"
CodeSpeedDown="MenuLeft"
CodeAppearancePlusHarsher="MenuDown"
CodeAppearancePlusEasier="MenuUp"
CodeAppearancePlusShow="Start"

To this:

[ScreenGameplay]
CodeNames="SpeedUp,SpeedDown,AppearancePlusHarsher,AppearancePlusEasier,AppearancePlusShow"
CodeSpeedUp=""
CodeSpeedDown=""
CodeAppearancePlusHarsher=""
CodeAppearancePlusEasier=""
CodeAppearancePlusShow=""

...and voilá! Problem solved. You will never experience that changing speed behaviour ever again, no matter how you map your inputs or what controller device you're using.

Alternatively, you can have CodeNames line blocked by adding "//" in the beginning instead of emptying the values below it.

UPDATE 20240923 (beta version)

Changelog:

- Added CourseMode (THANKS A LOT MIDFLIGHT DIGITAL TEAM FOR THIS)
- Re-made door animations
- Added some graphics
- Code optimization

IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENT

No more DanceStages system.

I decided to released a beta version of this theme with CourseMode, cuz I don't remember what I have to do to make a final version of this theme. xD

So, you will find a few bugs with animations. Remember, StepMania has some limitations, don't expect an AC perfect system.

I will be reading your comments. :)

Thank you purplesanz and razorblade for your help. This fixed the issue finally. Now I just don't know why the freeze arrows are acting strangely in Outfox. They seem to disappear before their full graphical length, which doesn't happen in Stepmania 5.1 new...

You mean you no longer provide support for dance stages and users are on their own if they want to enable them or that you definitely removed this feature from the theme?

Dance stages are working normally as far as I've tested in Outfox. In Stepmania 5.1 new I couldn't make they work, I just have a black screen. Maybe the installation is missing something...

But anyway, it would be a pity if we no longer could enable them since they add a lot to reproducing a modern DDR experience on PC.

Thank you again for your work.

PS: I'm not sure if this is a bug, but results for player 1 are also showing in player 2 side, take a look:

Dancing stages are no longer are part of this theme due to complications and bugs I do believe.

That's right! DanceStages are good but the system is too heavy for SM-OutFox, You could have a good or bad experience.

I'm not sure I follow. What do you mean? Delete what is in the themes folder?
