From his livestreams, that seems like an underestimate; I semi-reliably see one 鳳 attempt every ~20 minutes or so when he's picking Tohoku Evolved, and slightly more when he's playing other songs. The Galaxy Stage definitely takes longer than just 2 minutes when you factor in time spent on the song selection screen and the results screen, and there are also screens to go through in between credits (which I kind of just merged into the "it takes 1 minute to fail out" counting).

I was just thinking about something. Maybe those who break down the scoring system are the ones better equipped to educate me on it, but I'm curious. I kinda think 'Hou' is destined to be DDR's first 20. Do you all think this is still meant to be a 19 solely because the requirements for passing it are just because of the special requirements with the Baby-Lon event as an EES -- with meter going down with Perfects and below? It may be easily passable if it were just a regular unlocked song so that's why it should still remain a 19?

I'm just curious if others kinda debate this as well or maybe I'm just thinking about it solely because of this event, and no one passing it after almost 3 weeks... Fefemz and maybe even Hibiki get a lil closer with their attempts, but still...

What do you mean by "is destined to be"? Do you mean "ought to be re-rated to"? If so, "destined" is a strange way to put it.

As far as I know the community doesn't have an objective way of rating passing difficulty the way it rates scoring difficulty, and the in-game numerical ratings are based off of passing difficulty (not scoring).

As a reminder, Over The Period has never been cleared under Flare Gauge EX conditions.

"Ought to be" sounds more like a demand or imposing my will, instead of me saying an opinion (at least that's what I was trying to do, just state an opinion). It's been a few years since I've regularly played DDR so I thought maybe scoring also may play a factor especially in special events like this.

But I follow you, I didn't know Over the Period hadn't been cleared with those conditions either. I did think there was some mechanism Konami and/or players used to kinda determine if a song has an "accurate" rating to which it may get downgraded or upgraded.

If ENDYMION is not a 20 there's no way Hou is

This. There's no way we have seen what Konami defines a 20 until they actually release one.

And either way, ENDYMION would be the first 20 of all, as that is proven harder than all other 19s. Plus I feel Hou seems to fall closer to Valkyrie Dimension in difficulty, mainly in its raw speed. Probably a bit below it.

Ok so we've got quite a few updates:


1. BABY-LON'S GALAXY is undergoing some changes from the 30th. To summarise:
- You can now replay Hou if you've previously failed ENCORE EXTRA STAGE without replaying the three charts (New Millenium, come to m1dy and SISYPHUS)
- The diffilculty for Hou will be bumped down to
- The gauge will remain at FLARE IX. but it will be expanded

Someone please let me know if there's been a mistranslation here i'm fairly certain i've messed this up


2. New GOLDEN LEAUGE charts for Lightspeed


3. The DanceDanceRevolution 25th Anniversary Song Contest song that was previously announced will be released on the 30th

Basically people that have access to Hou can now play its Expert chart or higher (either Expert or Challenge) and can challenge it from FLARE IX or higher (FLARE IX or FLARE EX).

I imagine FEFEMZ is gonna clear the Expert pretty easily. It's actually likely that if he figures out that final run in the Challenge chart that he could also clear that under Flare IX.

There's a ridiculous run featuring crossovers and crossunders during the section he failed at and we're all pretty sure that there's some gimmick fuckery waiting at the end if he makes it past that. Wouldn't be a 19 without it.
