"Makin' my rounds. " |
I dunno if this has been asked or addressed before, but has anyone thought of or attempted recreating some of the older DDR course banners to jackets?
I ask because some of the older courses with banners (i.e. Naoki Platinum, V for Vibes, Trip Five, World Traveler, Paranoia Brothers, etc) all don't look that great when resizing them to 256x256 jackets. They're "okay" and some get a pass, while others either don't show correctly in SM5, or the stretch still doesn't read well.
Just curious if any of the gifted graphic folk we have around that have done custom banners for songs that have jackets and vice versa, have cared to come up with jackets for some of the older courses people use.

I resized mine so they would all at least show correctly, since course mode won't squish a banner like the regular song select will if there is no jacket, but outside of a handful that were custom made for older courses like 3rd Mix I don't think any kind of pack exists. You can find some jackets here but it's mostly just banners. But like in the X2 folder there is a rar file with the jackets.

Yeah, I found that repository from MadkaT that has pretty much every dang course there ever was. That's where I managed to snag the ones I have and start customizing courses. But I didn't know if there had been an effort to redo some of these older course banners to jackets or if people think this would be a cool/fun idea.

I've been racking my brain for years trying to come up with some semblance of design work for this...But to no avail. Oh, how I tried...//

These are good. I took noob_saibot's suggestion and just kept resizing the banners to jackets, and did a few tweaks here and there in Paint to make them look a lil better without the letters stretching too-too much and they came out pretty good like these:
You can pretty much see where I did the stretches, but it still works (GAME MIX being the worst one....), so feel free to snag and use 'em if you like. I'm still working on trying to get some of the others I gathered to look passable as well.
Of course, if our graphic wizzes wanna come up with ideas for course names (and their themes) that would be pretty fun. Like off the top of my head some new course name ideas would be:
DDR ncMIX (course for songs created by noisycroak artists)
Totally 80s (80s songs course)...or the following
I love the 80s/90s/2000s/2010s (songs for each decade)
KONAMI Over/Under (or KONAMI Overground/Underground, which would be a course from artists using "overground" or "underground" in their names)
