So yesterday, (and today) I started stepmania and started a song. When it went into the song, it crashed and came up with an error message saying: Fatal Error Model:: Could not open""": Permission denied. I appreciate any help on this!

Version, theme and character. If you use characters in SM 3.9 or variants, duplicate the Dance folder and rename this duplicate to WarmUp. Stage models aren't supported in SM 3.9.

Open metric.ini from Themes/_fallback folder using notepad. Copy paste these lines to the bottom of metric.ini:
[Background]
ShowDancingCharacters=false
UseStaticBackground=false
RandomBGEndsAtLastBeat=false
[Background]
ShowDancingCharacters=false
UseStaticBackground=false
RandomBGEndsAtLastBeat=false
