And as far as the continue feature, they want the game to end before putting in more money to keep playing, and the reason there is no continue is there a thing called "taking turns" you get a certain amount of songs and the game is over and if people are waiting, it's their turn to start a fresh game, it's built with lines in mind, it's not about continuing your session, you're in a public arcade, there are standards and the games are built around this aspect in a public setting, and game hogging is very frowned upon, this isn't your home, this is a public arcade, you play your set of songs, then you let someone else play, it's the right thing, and if you wanna play again just insert your credits and keep playing, the game is not catered to be a continued session.
This is all typed from the experience of someone who’s never been in an arcade before and you’ll never convince me otherwise.Seriously. Unless you're in a place with a ton of casuals or there on a busy weekend, a lot of these machines don't have lines for them, especially the more obscure rhythm games.
And if there's a line, guess what -- just don't use the continue feature! Problem solved, lmao.

Not just that, but I'm trying to imagine someone using that logic on something like Turtles In time. Imagine telling someone that game shouldn't have a continue feature because "there is a thing called 'taking turns'" because you're in a "public arcade" with "standards" for a "public setting" and that you're "game hogging" and "this isn't your home". And if they think Turtles In Time didn't have lines they should go get their damn diaper changed and stay off of Al Gore's internet because they aren't old enough for these conversations. That game took four players at once and you still had lines.
DDR already lets you pay per individual song. It shouldn't be hard to add that to the game once you've completed a full set at the very least. With that implemented you aren't waiting for another full set after they continue if you just walked in. But also if you just walked in even without continue if you're not at the machine waiting they could just start another set so it's moot to the person who just got there anyway. All you're doing is annoying the person playing with no line by making them start the entire process of selecting songs over from the beginning.

Whats the point of having songs from a idol game in a BEMANI game? Thats like Konami trying to confuse players on why these songs exist.
Imagine if you first touched DDR & you played these songs & then you scratched your head on where this BGA came from.

I'm sure this happened with plenty of people on the US version of Max 2 with Dream A Dream.Post #65 · Posted at 2021-07-29 07:50:19pm 2.8 years ago

Padding.
Just like many other video games are guilty of. This is the DDR version of padding.

Two notes at once should always add 2 to a combo. This is not something that should be considered debatable. Why DDR got it right for a bit and then fucked it all up for well over a decade is beyond me.

I agree with both the past two posts. Idol songs are Konami saying they don't actually really have an update but want to pretend they do. Jumps should add 2 to combo.

If seeing the BGA garners interest into where the song came from and what its game is about, that's a big step towards potentially becoming a fan of that series. Is it honestly going to be a problem if DDR is how someone learns of Tokimeki?

Also I misread what you said originally, hence my first response. That's an error on my end and I apologize.

WHY did they change Do It Right's banner to this?
...when the remixes retained the original style of the song's first (proper) banner from KONAMIX?
The stark contrast is jarring when you scroll though the song wheel in the "D" folder.

I thought I posted this already but apparently I didn't.
How lazy DDRMAX USA got when it comes to background scripts has always bothered me; Songs that aren't from the arcade DDRMAX/DDRMAX2 releases have transplanted background scripts from songs that came from those games, and oh boy, most of them are off-sync (by one or two measures, e.g. BABY GIMME YOUR LOVE, CUTIE CHASER [morning mix], 22DUNK, GAMBOL, gentle stress, so on).

The fact that those made it to Japanese CS games too, if they first appeared in MAX US. Shining Polaris is only synced right in MAX2 US.

I also dislike how Jam & Marmalade's background video is really the only one that's "synced." Granted, it's a direct rip of Flash In The Night's video, but it only makes the other un-synced BGAs look like a wasted effort.
Also, can we give a quick mention to GAMBOL's banner in DDRMAX US being stretched to the point where you can literally see the poor job on the resize? Literally every other CLUB VERSiON song found in that game (including PARANOiA MAX [CLUB ANOTHER VER.2] nonetheless) having a proper resize?

I absolutely agree with this statement. I don't know why they decided to remove jumps=2 to your current combo, since the SOLO series of all things had access to that before MAX-EXTREME did. If it was to accommodate the change from a difficulty varied max score to a more linear one, that's a dumb reason to, since combos don't really add anything to your score anyhow. Some mixes do not have complete Double charts (or any double charts). Some are just the same charts on different difficulties. DS Fusion and DDRMAX USA have 'em.
Arcade exclusive songs prior to DDR X2.
DDR SN2 has 2 dancers in arcade during versus play but not in PS2

Stomp to My Beat's script (a.k.a. FANTASY [max2]'s script) is synced. That's the only other one I can think of.
