NWFL Showdown: Memorial Day Bash
Date: May 30th - June 1st
Location: Tiki Island, 2 Via de Luna, Pensacola Beach FL 32561 (850-932-1550)
Mix: DDR Extreme (TWO EX machines will be used for this event)
Schedule:

Dance Dance Revolution 2nd Chance: - $5 per person (you must have entered the RDGC to be eligible for 2nd Chance)

Qualifiers:
Seeding will be determined by a qualifying round before the actual competition takes place.
The top 4 from the past tournament will get to add their song choice to the list each tournament. 1 and 6 will always remain the same.
The song will be one randomly chosen of the six following songs by rolling a die (n. singular form of dice).
1. REROLL
2. Afronova Primeval
3. Healing Vision ~Angelic Mix~
4. Paranoia Eternal
5. Orion ~Civilization Mix~
6. REROLL
Once the qualifying round has ended, all entrants will be separated into two conferences, with each conference containing two groups (A - B) The number of participants per conference will be dependent upon the number of entrants, with a maximum of 16 participants per conference (32-man maximum). An 8-man Round-Robin tournament will ensue for each group of each conference.
Basically: 2 conferences w/ 2 groups a piece == 4 8-man round robins
Play Rules
Pad/Song/Mod Choice:
- All songs will be played on either Expert (Heavy) or Challenge (Oni) difficulty.
- The higher seed chooses what side of the pad he/she wants.
- Solo is allowed to be used IF a: both players agree, or b: the player choosing the song chooses Solo.
- You are allowed to use any mods that do not affect placement of arrows
- Players will alternate song picks, with the lower seed as the starting chooser.
- You are not allowed to choose a song more than once throughout the each LEVEL of competition. (E.G: During Conference play, you can not choose a song more than once. However, if you proceed to the Play-offs, your song picks are refreshed. Conversely, if, you move from Play-offs to the Finals, your song picks are again refreshed)
- You are not allowed to choose the same song your opponent chose previously in the same match.
During Play:
- You are not allowed to make verbal noises to distract your opponent.
- You are not allowed to look/stare at your opponent.
- If you FAIL, your opponent wins the song.
- If you both players FAIL, the second player to fail wins the song.
Win Requirements:
- This tournament will use the 2/3, 3/5, 4/7 and Match rules match setups. Details are listed in the appropriate sections.
- The first player to win the required amount of songs will win the match.
- If each player is tied in rounds, the final song will be chosen by RANDOM.
- In the event of a song tie, the song will be declared a tie and the song rotation will keep going
- Player A picks Song A, Player A and Player B tie, the song is declared a tie and it is Player B’s song pick.
Arbitration Rules:
- We will be using the rules of dominance and arbitration to account for possible pad errors. Below are examples of the following rules:
- Player A: 2 greats, 1 miss, Player B: 4 greats
- Player A: 2 greats, 1 miss, Player B: 3 greats
In the event of an arbitration, players will:
1) Switch sides and replay the song -- the player who declared the arbitration (the player with the pad miss, will have to beat the opposing player’s previous score as well as beat them in the round.
Tournament Schedule
Part I: Conference Play -- SATURDAY: May 31st
- There will be a 8-man Round-Robin tournament for each group in each conference that is devised
- 3/5 matches will be used in matches where competitors have been seeded +2 or -2 ranks within each other.
- 2/3 matches will be used for all other matches in the Conference Play
- Each player will play EVERY other participant in their groups. There will be NO matches happening in outside groups or conferences until the Finals.
- The Conference Play is concluded when all participants have played all other participants in their respective conferences.
Part II: Play-Offs -- SUNDAY: June 1st
After the true Round Robin tournaments have been concluded for all groups, the top 3 players from EACH group with the highest amount of win points will proceed to a 4-man single elimination play-off tournament.
- All matches are best 4 out of 7
- The 3rd highest competitor will receive a Wild Card, in which he/she has to compete with the 2nd place player to gain entry into the Play-Off round. The 2nd place winner, when going against the 3rd place Wild Card, will start out with a 1-0 record. The first competitor to win 4 rounds will proceed to the Play-Offs.
- All song picks are refreshed. You can choose any song that was previously chosen in the Conference Play.
The two winners will then proceed the DDR Finals matchup to play for first place. 3rd and 4th place competitors will also move into the Finals to play for 3rd place.
Part III: The DDR Finals -- SUNDAY, JUNE 1st
Determining 1st Place:
The top competitors from each conference will play in a MATCH rules style match, where song picks are continuously alternated until a player wins two consecutive rounds. A point will be awarded for each time a player wins two consecutive matches. The first player to be awarded 2 points is the final winner of the tournament.
Determining 3rd Place:
The two competitors who lost in the final Play-Off match will play in a MATCH RULES style match, where song picks are continuously alternated until a player wins TWO consecutive rounds. A point will be awarded for each time a player wins TWO consecutive matches. The first player to be awarded 1 point is declared the 3rd place winner.
Card System:
In an effort to award superior performance and to enhance tournament strategy, I will be instituting a card system.
"Cancel" Cards:
The use of these will allow you to cancel an opponent's current song choice, forcing them to pick a new song. The reward schedule is as follows:
1st Card: 3 AAAs
2nd Card: 4 AAAs
All Other Cards: 5 AAAs
Total Possible Cards in the Field at One Time: 5
Total AAAs Needed for All Five Cards: 22
Only FIVE cards will be allowed in play at any given time in during the tournament. Cards earned can be used by used EVERY player, regardless of who earns the card. (yes, that means that you can give away… or sell… a card that you earned to another player who may value it more than you do). Whenever a card is used, it will placed back up for sale at the price of 5 AAAs per card.
Rating Calculations
-Rating changes will only occur for Round-Robin tournament matches in Conference Play.
-ALL ENTRANTS who are REGIONALLY unrated will be introduced with a rating of 1000.
-All rating changes will be calculated and finalized within 7 days of the tournament's conclusion.
-I must be informed of any disputes with rating changes the week following the end of the 7-day period from which ratings are initially posted. Any disputes past this date will be ignored.
