Hi! If you don’t remember, in June 18, 2019, I released a beta of DDR 202X using a template of Wyvern-D and KENp’s DDR A20 theme. I decided to abandon the project since I want to make it from scratch. But I have no theming experience and I don’t know where to start, especially with the graphics for the theme. If anyone has some advice or almost like a tutorial on how to make graphics or theming in general, that’d be appreciated. Thank you, and have a great day!

Depending on which version you want to target, Lua details will vary.
The official github has some pretty good documentation on Lua for theme developers.
https://github.com/stepmania/stepmania/wiki/Theming
Graphic design is something you can spend your whole life studying and mastering. Within the scope of theming, a good command of both your bitmap editor (ie Photoshop) or vector editor (Inkscape, Illustrator) will do good. There are many good external resources for these.
If you think reading and learning these skills is too much work, you can try to building from the default theme, editing it and shaping it as you go. Building a theme is no trivial task.
