Here is some extremely rudimentary music replacement in DDR UNIVERSE. All I did was replace one music file with another and call it a day, although this still took a surprisingly large amount of time. One day I might figure out how to do this on a more advanced level. Music is identically stored across all three of the UNIVERSE games, so for right now all I know how to do is take music files from those games and swap them out. I don't know how to take music from a third-party source, package it in a way the game would understand, and then replace it in that format. For now, it's really quite basic, but it's still fun to experiment with when you don't have much else going on. This can be done in any of the UNIVERSE games.
If you're wondering about the discrepancy between the song preview and the actual song, all of the song previews are stored in a single databank, separate from their respective xma audio files. Since I currently don't know how to repackage the databanks, I can't change one song preview without changing all of them.
I have also tried this on the 360's DDR 2010 port, but the audio is stored in a less straightforward manner and all I have figured out how to do is crash the Xbox or hang the game when I load up the song with swapped audio. There is much more potential to use third-party audio in that game, however.
This also means that I can extract whatever audio from the three UNIVERSE games that I want, so if you need any music or sound from those games for some reason, I guess I can entertain those requests.
