There's one question I found when it comes to the Pump it Up franchise, how come Pump it Up is so popular in the Latino countries like Spain, Mexico, Portugal and so on, yet never had that much attention with Japan and the english countries like US, UK and Australia since they have Dance Dance Revolution? I get Pump it Up is popular in Korea since it's made over there but what is up with the Latino's involved with the series?

I actually forwarded your question to an online community I'm in, and here's the answers I got:

- It's cheaper to import PIU into those countries in contrast to DDR.
- The mass amount of aesthetically pleasing visuals in PIU attracted a lot of players there.
- Andamiro has a much better outlook at Latin American regions than Konami, so the former was able to address the players there more often.

Ahh now I get it, to be fair the visuals on PIU do look better than DDRs, especially with the background animations.

That was always something I wondered as well. I thought even at one time, the best PIU player was someone named El Wero from Mexico.
If it ain't no natural law, then you can keep your regulations. 'Cause if I like it, I do it.

In Brazil PIU is very popular than DDR, any popular arcade station you probabily find a machine, i don't know so much about the legacy but since the Hype of the dancing machines pump it up becomes very popular in Brazil, much more than DDR! in the beggining of 2000's some tv shows advertisement and promote a lot champinoships.

Premiere is the most beloved because have 7 or 8 Brazilians songs on it.

You know how annoying it was in the US for almost a decade of Konami not giving a shit about them when it came to DDR? Think that, but worse, and probably never actually gonna end. No wonder Latin America doesn't care about DDR.

If I'm honest, I'm pretty sure in 2019 that Pump's more popular in Europe too.

I wonder if the Land of the Dead from Coco has PiU too. 🤔
I could imagine Hector noticing two players dominating it at a single 19, then when he tries it himself, he fails terribly even at a lower difficulty.

Everything has been answered here, but in the case of us Spanish players, the last DDR cabinet that came to this country is now more than 10 years old (without counting the white cab we got recently but mysteriously don't know where it is) and we usually had the latest PIU mix (even though the situation turned worse from 2012 or so). Right now we only have one PIU with XX for the whole country and the rest of the cabs are or dead or unplayable, which is pretty sad

P.D: it's also funny how the only official DDR movie was produced here

You know, with all this popularity surrounding PIU lately, I wonder why there doesn't seem to be a comprehensive English wiki about the games like how RemyWiki is for BEMANI.

I believe that PiU will contribute to improving the relationship between Koreans and Hispanics/Latinos.
