It's because we know they're all going to be boring 11s and 12s. Also playing weeb songs at the arcade is like, yikes.

11s and 12s are fine, I just can barely remember most HinaBitter songs, they all blend into the same generic sound for me. But also, the game will launch with a bunch of other songs on the default list, so it's not like the only new content for A20's launch will be HinaBitter, there will be plenty else to focus on, and DDR KOs have been pretty hot lately.

No, we don't. You look at the difficulty distribution of the Expert and Challenge charts, and you'll find that there's plenty of rep for the 13+ camp. In fact, there are more 13s than there are 12s! Several of these are among the best charts in their respective games, so I remain firmly optimistic this batch will have some gems.




If you think people playing these songs in public will make them and the game look uncool, hate to break it to you, but that stigma's always been there, from back in the eurodance days to the techno deluge to the kawaii boom. If you worry that people will see the players as creeps, then you assume people are both allergic to anime aesthetics and judgmental. The content is not objectionable, and so if people like the songs, they shouldn't have to hide it.

Is it just me or does the stepchart interface look 100% identical to A?

To be honest, I can't differentiate between hinabita,and coconatsu, or the idol songs because they're not in English and I don't care. The ones with 13s and 14s, I probably play occasionally. The vast majority of the rest of them, I have no reason to play.

And look, I have no problem with a song in Japanese from time to time. But stuff like the idol songs every song are too much. It's just the same as English songs like after the game of love, sexy planet, or dance partay. If you heard those all the time, I don't think you'd be so happy. It's like how people get triggered by the deafault licenses, because they get really annoying. Theres a difference between "oh people used to worry about playing so deep and bag" and "oh look, this guy just played another song that sounds like screaming 12 year olds."

What I'm saying is that your elitism is kinda showing. You reject a whole swath of musical style and get tired of what's becoming a dominant part of the setlist, even when there's variety in said style that you're rejecting out of hand. I already have to deal with people that basically say the same about popular music on the regular, I don't want this mindset to normalize in the DDR scene too.

If anything, they may just change the interface a few times mid-game via updates like they did during DDR A, if they ever do at all.

I'd be fine with a mostly identical interface since we already had so many changes from 2014 to A. Nice to see they at least changed the grade letter font, though, which I think has been the same since X2.

Are we sure the alleged screenshots of A20 aren't just screenshots from A plastered on the screens?

At least the results screen is different...

Well, the result screen looks completely new, for one, so I don't see why they'd make that kind of effort at all.
