After a very long discussion in the Facebook ddr group, I wanted to bring this topic here.
How do you handle random players when you're playing ddr? Do you let them skip in line so that they can get their turn in? Do you make them wait? Do you discourage them from playing?

Where I play there's almost never more than 3 people wanting to play the machine at a time. In fact, usually I have the machine to myself for a few hours at a time.
If a single person shows up wanting to play I usually ask if they want to join me, if not, but they still want to play, I get off the machine and do something else for a little bit.
If a couple of people want to play, or if it's a small child with a parent, I just let them have the machine for a round and go do something else.
If I was ever in a large group of people and some casuals wanted to play, I understand both sides where on one hand they should wait in line like everybody else, but also it might be nice to get some new people into the game and they may not understand the etiquette so maybe the group could be nice and let them play just once.

It's a line, when you get there you get there. What kind of stupid fucking question is this.

Usually leave them to their own devices and probably not even talk to them as the social awkward fuck that I am.
They're casual players, not babies.

I usually let them skip cause they will most likely fail on the first song.
Also I don't wanna be perceived as a machine hog.

they wait in line like everyone else
why should I treat them special when they haven't earned that kind of privilege?

I sincerely hate it when like two middle school aged girls who have never played DDR come up to me while I’m on the first song and clap after it’s over, only to then try to get onto the machine and they go “but you just played!”
Like, can you not read that I am on my “2nd Stage”?
