Would it be a good idea if there would be another Turn mod for Doubles other than Mirror?
Like swapping the up and down arrows of the P1 side, P2 side, or both (but still in their respective sides), then call it something like "UD-Shuffle" or "Shuffle+".

I'm infinitely more bothered by good (to me) songs with bad charts. I'm a huge fan of Jun boss songs and all of the charts for them are these dumpster fire 15s. No bueno.

Forgot it existed (and that it's a Jun song lol). I'll give you my thoughts in a couple of days.

remember how we saw a pic of Victory Concent in DDR A? we haven't seen him since, maybe it's that most captures we see are from players that choose their characters instead of leaving it to random but at the same time, some players do adore their dancers and there should be a video of someone setting their character to random and finding concent again as such
i believe characters were removed in 2013 by disabling them a la the dancemania adverts in MAX US CS (they're still there, just hidden), although Konami could've simply removed them outright as I don't think it takes much to cut our code but at the same time, they haven't bothered to update the graphics in general tbh besides adding new outfits and recoloring the same boss stages. Maybe that's why RINON was able to be readded so easily in DDR 2014, which is an extension of DDR 2013. I believe CONCENT's mysterious apperance in DDR A was simply a bug, that someone (coder or player) might've accidentially triggered his selection(turn him on or the code went dum) by whatever means, and that it wasn't a mere intentional rare system for him to show up, plus he is usually paired with a Zukin and too bad we didn't see Geisha Zukin come back either
anyways enough ddr tea

Mind if I share the DDR sentiment tea with you, lol?

I've said this enough time, on this site, but I really am still salty about his exclusion in Ace. That pic gave me a glimmer of hope that I could finally play as my favorite character after having to wait for him to appear by chance in DDR X3. Then I read about how to play as him in Ace by setting the character as Random. I don't have video proof of the screen, but I can prove that after almost 2 years of playing DDR A with the character selected to Random, out of a hundred stages I played, Victory-Concent had literally never appeared once. I'm guessing it's because of the reasons stated above, or he was selectable at some point but in the brief future updates, he got removed.

I'm still questioning why KONAMI/BEMANI would cut him out of DDR 2013 besides that one very brief (unintentional?) appearance in A, along with Geisha-Zukin, PiX, and Rena. I do like some variety with character designs besides the human characters (and the part-alien Rinon). I'm really hoping to see those characters added in A20 soon. OurMemories and Anniversary's jackets are my new glimmer of hope now. Sad

they're non-human, and Rena is from a now dead console series, and ig they wanted DDR to be more like IIDX or SDVX in a way where the cast is mostly consisted of human-like characters, (RINON is an execption bc she's highly-favored) and having Concento and Zukins just seem to reek of 90s weird cartoonish kids game outlier vibes(?)

Honestly the Concento characters were my favorite of the series (I have many memories of playing as Konsento:01 in 3rdMIX and Robo-2001 in 5thMix). It sucks they never appeared again in the games as selectable characters, I'd kill to see Robo-2001 again in some form, even if he was just in a jacket.

Which sounds kinda ironic since TRAN could count as a cartoonish character, as well as BABYLON (though I'm not really sure if he's the mascot of DDR...)

huge bump but:

o h

o wow am i the only one who ever thinks of using this thread anymore so big bump: conspiracy theories with random time!
healing-d-vision was originally titled something else
but konami forced naoki to change it so the song would attract more players since it's named after a recognizable song and that its part of a famous series or something
especially since the series was on a hiatus in arcades and need some sort of draw of bringing back hardcore players
(i say this bc despite the name, NAOKI himself confirmed the song is unrelated to healing vision)

Seeing this again reminded me of something I've been pondering on and off.

DDR 3rd and 4th Mix CS both have Endless modes with ridiculous score caps - 3rd caps at 10^72 - 1 and 4th caps at 10^32 - 1. 3rd's scoring increases faster than 4th's, so by my calculations it should be possible to max out 3rd CS Endless in a single session (something like 400 stages) - I wonder if anyone's ever tried it? There may be a free Guinness World Record there as well (highest score in a commercial video game).

Hm, two very different responses from the two different games. 3rd Mix goes to a five digit combo counter and presents a generic "congratulations" screen upon maxing it out, while 4th Mix freaks out and kills you. Weird.

4th keeps going after you max out, the player held Start (?) to abort the song at the end.

Extreme, meanwhile, gets a bit glitchy near the end.

DDR X lets the player keep going after maxing out at 10^16 - 1, but the continue option is invisible for some reason:

wow what happened to this game?

I sat down and watched DDR A's entire songlist. 2013 to A was... something.

Nothing but vocaloid and kawaii/baby voice songs. Plus the most generic EDM. It's so bad! There was a time when most DDR songs sounded unique and were enjoyable to listen to, Now it's the opposite. I only found some songs that I enjoyed and the rest were crap. I like TAG's stuff though, I admit. I enjoyed every song in the X2 category. X3... generally liked. but then 2013 came and... what a hot mess. But I guess that's the target audience nowadays...

And what's the deal with almost every song being 15+ now? Yes, I get that the game has gradually gotten harder, but 15 footers+ just don't feel special anymore like they used to be.

We've gone from every song sounding like it was made by Naoki to every song sounding like modern EDM. I do still find myself lost when searching through the 2013 - 2014 folders, but I really like the songs that have added to the game recently.

It feels a little weird that expert charts go up 18 now, when they used to be as low as 5, but they have to accommodate the continuously rising skill ceiling. We couldn't go back to getting one new 15 or 16 per mix. You can just play the lower level charts that are on basic or difficult, which are still fun and you shouldn't be turned off just because they have a name other than expert attached to them.

You can find some good songs in the modern games, of course some of it might be the generic Trap EDM sounding stuff but some examples are most Bemani crossovers (Illegal Function Call, Hunny Bunny, Re: Generation) Starlight in the Snow and Alpacore which is a gold league song, Blstr, and Splash Gold, Some of the licenses aren't good though except for Work Hard, Party Rock, and Something Just Like This. I'm not a fan of the modern Trap EDM stuff, but occasionally you can find some pretty good stuff.

And you, just because someone has a different opinion than you, doesn't mean you can just go and shout a dead meme used by 12 year olds who go to Starbucks or Chipotle flexing with the new iPhone, of course it's not a good opinion but still, at least give some reason why you like trap beats, maybe it'll give an outsider a reason to like your music.

how are the lower level charts? like 10-11? Are they still interesting or relegated to second thought?
