Personally I would use this system for this kind of purpose. It seems a little strange using "?" for a positive rating.
(I'd love to use a star for the 2nd tier, but it doesn't neatly align like the other characters in Courier. :/)
That's just me, though.

♥♥- Cream of the Crop, a flawless example of a proper simfile (or very close...)
+♥- Also a very good simfile! Sometimes the difference between this rating and '+!!' lies merely on personal opinion, though sometimes it could be due to less subjective minor flaws.
++- A good simfile, though some minor flaws (or an occasional moderate flaw) is present.
..- Okay, but moderately flawed.
-?- Some good parts, but needs some work. Frequent and inappropriate doublesteps fit well in this catagory.
-!- Sheer horror, please overhaul immediately. (Thankfully this didn't need to be used...)

Interesting. I like the idea of a heart, so I'll consider it next time.

Enhanced Reality / Matduke
BPM: 170*
ITG scale:

X-scale:

A crossover from the newest updates of PIU Prime, I decided to step this nice, instrumental song (though the real intro has a "Portal 2" robotic announcer voice which was cut out from my edited audio file). I wanted to try to experiment with some BPM/warp gimmicks, but nothing too harsh, given the charts made with those BPM changes in mind. Sincerest apologies in advance for the warps being done in a rather bootlegged way (via 20K BPM speedups), but when all I've got to work with is SM4, there's only so much improv I am able to do. Please do not C-Mod the song, and when performing arrows which fall into stutter sections, read/hit them as you normally would as if the stutters were not there.
Also, when critiquing this entry (or anyone's entries), please do not base it on how you did on the sightread. Voting bias stemming from sightread skill really needs to be dispensed with; voting should be based on the file itself, not how good you may or may not be at said file.
And, I may or may not have cropped the graphics from a YouTube video... ._.

Just use a * then? It'll work because mono-spacing is a thing. I'd use /10 marks but I'm a lazy bastard so I don't.That's just me, though.

Please do not C-Mod the song
Personally I just don't enjoy files with gimmicks. I won't be able to play them later when playing through my collection unless I
A specific complaint for the gimmicks in Enhanced Reality is that the gimmicks are actually throwing off the sync by a few ms in either direction each time they occur. They average out over the course of the song, but still, they could be better timed.

It took me about 9 hours of searching to find a song for this category... This was hell, I tell you. Was listening for whole day and was hearing voices in every song. But at the end, I think I got great song and I tried my best to do as amazing experience as I could with it.
More experimentation with scrolls from me and also finally found out how to add attacks to files. I think that the little bit I added should be tasteful. Graphic art as always from Nusa <3

Click the picture to go to the simfile page. Custom ZIP has no video. 4:3 BG and ITG banner in the comments.
So, this song is from Groundbreaking 2014: GO BACK TO YOUR ROOTS. It has a minimalist design, but that's where it stops. Every chart has 8th arrows due to its wacky time signatures. (SSC contains the time signatures if you're curious.)
SSC contains speeds. SM doesn't. It doesn't really matter, I thought the slowdown transition would be smoother this way.
I don't really know how to rate things above 10, so it could be very wrong. Still, I hope you enjoy this!
One last point correction: Fun Fun Pharaoh should've had 10 points.

Voting for [Passport] is over.
Official top 3 finishes for [Passport]:
1st: Psychedelic Tokyo Underground, by Gameoson! [46 pts.]

2nd (TIE!): Help me!!, by chewi! [35 pts.]

2nd (TIE!): もすかう (DIGIMIND REMIX), by brunobg24! [35 pts.]

Submissions for [Voiceless Week] are closed and voting may commence.
This week's theme will be...
[Mid Speed]
Back in 2012, [High Speed] required you to step songs above 160 BPM.
Back in 2014, [Low Speed] required you to step songs below 125 BPM.
In 2016, [Mid Speed] requires you to step songs anywhere between the range of 125 BPM and 160 BPM.
For the sake of avoiding any discrepancies, 125 and 160 are included in that range of "Mid" Speed, and the song must scroll at that speed for more than 80% of the song (in seconds).
IMPORTANT MESSAGE REGARDING VOTING
As most of you recall, there was a bit of an incident with a contestant voting for a file that was not played. For the time being, we have decided to let the player in question slide for now. We initially considered a temporary ban from the contest, but ultimately decided the player has probably learned their lesson by now. But with that being said, let us make it clear that if a similar incident occurs in which we find out a player does not play all files and/or votes for a file they did not play, that voter will be banned from participating in the remainder of the competition. It just isn't fair to the rest of the competitors. This is meant to be fun, but unfairness has the potential to kill the fun, so please just give us your word of honor that you will judge files fairly and appropriately. Thank you for reading, and happy stepping.

A few things to say
Many users thought that Voiceless week was going to be low in entries, but a lot of you went on and took the challenge! Good job, folks.
Also, I heard all the songs for Voiceless week and didn't find anyone cheesing the theme, so props for you guys and your hard work in finding songs without vocals/samples. I knew you could do it!

Lastly, remember the small side event? It's happening. Good luck to you all once more. Can't wait to see what the winner wishes to pick for a later week's theme.

Small side event 1:
Also, to make this interesting, I'm adding something to [Voiceless Week] voting.
Whoever makes the simfile with the highest number of points will get to choose a theme of their choice for an upcoming week of Summer Contest 2016. Winner will pm me what they wish the week's theme to be and I'll post it on here when the time comes, so it'll replace whatever I had in store for you guys, but I feel like this would make things more interesting.
Just to clarify, here is an example:
qweqwewq [User 01] - 34 pts
fesnofenso [User 03] - 33 pts
oireeroieree [User 03] - 30 pts
vnnidvinivdv [User 02] - 28 pts
aeigiaegiigg [User 04] - 10 pts
User 01 would be the winner of the side event, even though User 03 has more points total for the week because of two simfiles. The simfile with the highest pts is the winner of this little side event for that week to be able to pick the theme later. You may still submit two files in chances that one of them gets higher points than the rest.
If the winner doesn't want to pick a theme, then they may refrain from this "prize" of sorts. Prize is not transferable. You either pick a theme or you don't. In case you don't, I'll have a theme for that week.
Remember...the Summer Contest is for fun. Smile Having more points than someone else or not, this contest is for more reasons than to simply win. It helps get feedback at times, gets you noticed (maybe people will look for your simfiles later if they like what you do), and helps challenge you to get the brain working with these different themes you might have not thought of (or you possibly could have, but needed motivation, like Summer Contest!). Branch out from what you normally do! You might like it. You might not. But why not try, right?
As always, any questions, please feel free to pm or ask on the SC2016 thread.
Thank you and Good Luck.
TL;DR - Whoever has the simfile with the most points this week (voiceless week votes) gets to choose a theme later in the contest via private message. You can opt out of this "prize" if you win.

To perhaps help with this, I recommended to ddrstepper that if at least 3-5 people start complaining that a set of votes are fishy (like, say, doing this and calling it a day), the hosts can start reviewing the particular votes. If they are indeed not genuine, this voter gets (sadly) banned.
Quote: My PM to him
I actually think a new rule could be added to avoid stuff like this happening in the future:
-If multiple people start posting concerns for someone's vote being biased/unfair/non-genuine/not all files played, you, Aegis, and Pandy can review the votes in question. Such posters can also send evidence that suggests the voter had some shady intentions (chat logs? PMs? other?). If they are found to be a fraud, such votes will be null and void (and consequentially disallow their file from being qualified from placing).

ANYWAYS... 125-160? 120-140 is my ultimate favorite when it comes to BPMs. :3 And I have a pretty fun file in the works that'll perfectly fit this week.
I may also get two simfiles too... the only problem is the second one will get 0 points. c;
