"Two milkmen go comedy" |
Last updated: 2016-01-31 12:44am
This post will appear on the next page!
I apologize for missing Telperion's votes, but now that that is fixed...
I decided to listen to the songs that the alleged forfeiters to-be of Round K (CuzcoBlocko, chewi, and Gameoson) were assigned to, and below lie my reactions:
Katamari Dancing: Honestly, this seems very steppable, even without a heavy reliance on 16th notes. Maybe this song is a little strange, but I like it.
Skytoucher- Decent, but admittedly a little repetitive, and has a few hard to step parts. This is probably my least favorite of these 3 simfiles.
Unlucky girl-chan no Nichiroku: Personally, I don't see any issue with this song, other than its long length. There seems to be a fair amount of opportunities for 16th notes, and seems to be a lot more fun to step than the Vocaloid song that I had to step, Umbrella.
(Sorry if these reactions are unhelpful or somehow insulting
)
Something recently that has been bothering me is the treatment of CuzcoBlocko's constant song-referencing, especially from Quickman. I'm sorry if his constant statements and comparisons with his assigned song seem like a cause of concern or excessively ranting/whining, but I have to disagree strongly. CuzcoBlocko's forum comments about the song, I feel, definitely help to cue the submitter into if (and when) the completed submission would be done; if I were the submitter of that song, then I would greatly appreciate it over having to wait up to a week to see if the stepper liked, disliked, vetoed, or didn't finish the submission that he/she was assigned. As for CuzcoBlocko's chat comments, I personally feel that the chatroom is the best place to place unorganized rants (or the like) in, and his are no exception; the necessity of such comments may be questionable, but is unlikely to be an indicator of a greater problem.
Also, just a hint to the guessers, but I usually don't like to end my song submissions with fade-outs.

Final submission is in! You most likely won't be able to tell it's mine.
(Btw Nezemarth, VIP wasn't submitted as the anime opening, but the original J-Rock version.)
I'll see how many ROUND K files I can play tonight. It's going to be a light week unless there are a lot of Sunday submissions that I'm not expecting.
[ROUND L] is setting up to be a fitting conclusion to this shuffle... looking forward to it.

It's one thing if someone says "Meh, I really don't like this song" one time and leaves it at that. It's another thing when someone harps on the issue and feels the need to post the same thought multiple times.
And I don't know about anyone else, but when I submit a song I really don't feel like I'm owed any sort of response on whether or not the song is being stepped. I just submit the song and let the stepper do their thing. If it gets stepped, great. If not, whatever. That's the Simfile Shuffle for you.

SO MOVING ON FROM THAT SUBJECT right now I'm actually having trouble deciding what I want to submit for ROUND L. Part of me wants to submit something relatively normal. Part of me wants to submit something that screams "FINAL BOSS, TIME TO GET WRECKED".

"Helps to cue the submitter if/when the song is going to be finished" is really a weak excuse.

This where I personally beg to differ. While my guess is that high-scoring people like you prioritize creating fun simfiles (and using vetoes when appropriate), I personally think that half the point of the Simfile Shuffle is seeing how other people apply their techniques to fulfill the submissions that they were assigned to. This, for me, is especially true for the songs that I submit, which is why I haven't used any vetoes during this contest (regardless of how silly a tactic it is), and why I dislike it when somebody uses a veto if the situation isn't urgent. While I don't really think that CuzcoBlocko's comments are that necessary, I can only find them being bothersome if you think that the forum should be primarily for advertisements/votes/responses to requests or questions. Moreover, saying that the comments helping to cue the submitter is a weak excuse is very biased (to put it mildly), and really irks me.
Sorry I made that response and didn't yet move on, but it was something I wanted to say...

We haven't seen a Gameoson boss song since Bangin' Burst. Go for it!

I think a final boss song would be interesting, so go for it and save any normal submissions for later.

*cough werewolf howls cough* But yeah, I think I will submit that boss song after all. Good luck stepping it to whoever gets assigned it for ROUND L.

...Oh, you meant song submission. Yes, I still agree though that a "final boss" is a good idea, despite my own submission not living up to that.

Well yeah, of course I meant song submission. It's no guarantee whatever ROUND L song I get is gonna work for a final boss and Skytoucher certainly doesn't have room to be Bangin' Burst levels of difficulty.
I'll be stepping my ROUND L submission for after the shuffle is over anyways so it's gonna happen regardless

I made some changes to Stardust Vox's
chart that may or may not have been for the better. Please re-download.

@Lisek For Na Na Na, the hands don't work on my SM5, they just count as whiffed notes. The 3rd and 4th presses don't register at all. What setting can I change to fix that?

That's weird... Albeit they weren't necessary for the song, the hands worked for my SM5. :/

It could be your key configuration. Try a config that can register four keypresses at the same time.

Oh, a could-be-important note: all unused backups will be carried over to the next year's Shuffle. If you have an objection, please PM us and we'll remove your file from the pile after the Shuffle is over. I think it might be a keyboard issue. I'm able to use only up to 3 at once and it's only a specific three arrows (Left, Down, Right). If I press all four arrow keys at once, none of them respond.

You could map your keys to something like ASL;. (spread), but it isn't the best for judging pad files for sure. Some keyboards don't like presses of more than 2 arrow keys.Post #1218 · Posted at 2016-02-01 05:31:54am 9.3 years ago

Mine can register up to 6 arrow presses at once. If I encounter a joke chart for Doubles (like Kyzentun's The 7 Jump) that uses more than 6 keys, I just quickly turn autoplay on for the parts that need 7 (or 8) arrows pressed at a time. This technique might be useful for files with quads when it comes to keyboards that can't register more than 2 arrow presses. Or you can use the "No hands" option.
