Hey everyone!

I'm KowalskiPenguin10897. Some of you might know me from Youtube who created KowalskiPenguin10897's Song Pack 1 for Stepmania.
I'm new here and I thought I would share with you guys my new song pack that I made for Stepmania!

It took me several months to work on this song pack, and then I released my song pack on Youtube on December 26, 2014. But then, I got introduced to this website and the large Stepmania community it has. So now, I've decided to post my song pack on here too!

All songs have levels of to in them, with a few on a few select ones. Music videos are included in songs that have music videos. I also included some song edits of the Konami Originals from DDR 2010 in there too, and made them a little better, and a few certain ones harder.

Unfornately, I cannot make a category for my song pack at this time due to the fact I have to meet certain requiements in order to make a category on here.. But for now, you can download the entire song pack (or the individual songs) in the link below:

INSTRUCTIONS: To download, after clicking on the link, click "Open in Drive", then sign into your Google account if you have one, when the folder opens, where it saids "My Drive > KowalskiPenguin10897's Song Pack 1" click on the folder name, which a menu will open, and then click Download, and then just wait for the ZIP process to finish, and then you're done!

I put a lot of effort to make these simfiles for everyone to enjoy. There are a few good songs on here, some popular ones from last year and some from the yesteryears. However, if you or anyone you know can AAA Konoha's State of the World on Challenge, oh my god, then I will say that you are really pro! Even you at least pass it, I'll still be shocked and amazed.

Looks like a very good pack. Some songs I don't know but looks good otherwise. A little worried there are 4 boss songs, and 3 are by Hatsune Miku.

Hmm, I wish I could say something more positive, but after playing Hit Me with Your Best Shot and Jump, I'm afraid your simfiles are not really presentable in their current state. A good start would be to make sure to get the correct bpm for your songs; it takes a bit of trial and error, but it's mandatory in every case. I would have given you somewhat the benefit of the doubt with Hit Me with Your Best Shot, since it's from 1980, and most rock songs that old don't have consistent tempos, but a 2005 Madonna song shouldn't be problematic to sync. You have some good ideas in your patterning, though I'd personally use fewer double-steps across. Just figure out a proper syncing method that works for you, and I think things will start to fall better into place.

EDIT: Just tried That Don't Impress Me Much as well. The syncing for that is definitely closer, although it's still not quite perfect. As with the other two files I tried, the steps are mostly pretty fun, but would benefit from fewer double-steps.

Some boss songs that /aren't/ Hatsune Miku would be a good idea. Also quite a few of these are synced badly.

Bad Romance, Sweet Escape, Payphone, and Timber seem off. Notes don't really seem to go in sync with the song at several parts and I've had several friend notice the same thing while playing on the pad.

well from what i've seen all the file offsets are just 0, which is how not to sync files.

Please excuse the necro post, but you did ask for more sync suggestions.

I agree with @chewi - the first thing that needs fixing is the offsets are almost never exactly 0.

"Sweetie" should have a BPM of ~126. (I didn't get the exact BPM.)

"Are You Online" is 137.

"Counting Stars" is miscut at 71s by about 50ms. The BPM is exactly 122, as you have, which means the cut should be a multiple of 60/122 = 0.49180s. When the BPM isn't constant, you generally want to line up the ends by zooming in very close, and when the BPM is constant, you get the most precise results by multiplying the length of a beat by the number of beats and cutting exactly that much.

"Domino"'s slow section should have a BPM of ~63.5, which is a shame because the rest of the chart is pretty good. Slightly out of sync but pretty good.

"Safe and Sound" is 118, and the cut is extremely noticeable.

"Jump" is ~119. "King of Anything" is also ~119. Both sound like they might not be precisely 119.

"Levels" is 126.

"Sweet Escape" and "Despicable Me" are both swung, and it's kind of a shame to use 8th notes when so few songs legitimately get to use 12ths.

"You Belong With Me" doesn't have a steady tempo (thanks Obama Taylor). Using a wave editor I found downbeats every 5-10s and plotted a BPM that goes through them. The result is I get Fantastic on almost all the steps now, so I think I have it close to right. Let me know if you want that list.

"Geisha's Dream" & "Magic Parade"- these are actual DDR songs. Personally I'd put the effort into making charts for new songs, rather than new charts for existing songs.

Positives: after I changed those things for "You Belong With Me" and "Counting Stars", I like both simfiles. Those are popular songs and my friends will also enjoy playing songs they recognize.

"Super Star" is good! Video is a little off. Also, like "You Belong With Me", the tempo isn't constant. I have more exact BPMs for this one, too.

"Firework" is also good. Slightly miscut, though. With a BPM of exactly 124, and cutting 160 beats from refrain to refrain, the cut should be 160 * (60 / 124) = 77.419s.

"My Life Would Suck" is also good, but slightly miscut. The offset would be -0.098 if you measure at the start of the song and -0.87 if you measure after the cut. To recut it locally, I cut the album version at [1:02.867, 1:57.488] and then [0, 13.857]. This gives basically the same thing you have, but without the 10ms miscut. Once that's done, I also adjusted some of the 8th notes in the bridge, since they didn't really fit the music.

There are a bunch of other songs I like which I put aside to look at later. I guess the point is a lot of the songs have a lot of potential, but almost everything needs some degree of polish.

Wow, that's a lot of readjusting I'm gonna have to do.

Since I'm already working on my second song pack, I'll probably try to fix them when I have the chance to, and also there's a slight chance that the songs that need to be adjusted and fixed will probably appear in a future song pack as a revisit with new charts and improvements.
