But honestly, this is something to ponder, playing a DDR official chart on an ITG machine...I am more than likely going to see the rules being changed around after this, I wouldn't care less since it is some sort of achievement, but exactly "where" it belongs within the "Achievement" sub-forums is going to be one of those topics of discussion that will get derailed within a few seconds time.

I can definitely understand an argument being made against my use of a rate-mod, as this is not possible in any official DDR game.

Its not only that, but that's the reason why people started to talk about it.

On the side note... I can finally pass max 300Heavy in the arcades with a BVery Happy

Hmmm, this is a quandary. It's a perfect storm between the three dance game accomplishment threads.

It doesn't seem to belong in the DDR Accomplishments thread because it's not played on an official DDR game.

It doesn't seem to belong in the ITG Accomplishments thread because it's not an ITG song.

It doesn't seem to belong in the Stepmania Accomplishments thread because it is an official DDR song and chart, and played on pad to boot.

My opinion? The case can be made the strongest for it to remain here in this thread. It is an official DDR song and chart, and it was played on pad, not keyboard. I mean, seriously. POSSESSION? Can't we just acknowledge that it's still a crazy awesome accomplishment for someone and not nitpick that it wasn't played on an official arcade machine? I mean, the first post of this thread allows DDR MOBILE GAME accomplishments which is basically stepmania. Doesn't it seem a bit nitpicky to allow that and not something like this?
I agree.

I second that.

I don't know, maybe it's just me, but I'd rather leave this thread for DDR games only, which means no Stepmania or ITG even if it is a DDR song. The reason being is that they're completely different games with massively different timing windows. I'd rather not get confused with ITG scores on DDR songs and just leave it to DDR scores on DDR songs. For instance You can get an FEC on ITG quite easily, however on DDR a PFC is a bigger accomplishment (in my opinion). When I come into this thread I enjoy looking at the MA and PFC accomplishments people obtain. On the rare occasion someone gets an MFC, that's also super awesome. However in ITG, Fantastics and quads are a lot more common than they are in DDR. The only way I would find it suitable for this thread is if they marked the timing windows like the DDR series.

With that said, I enjoyed your Possession video. It must take some mad skills to have 1.3x on it. Regardless of the game, it still marks a pretty impressive accomplishment. Smile

Anything done on ANY stepmania or in the groove game belongs in those accompanying threads. It has been brought up several times, and the answer will always be the same, this thread is for songs only done on official versions of Dance Dance Revolution, whether its done on a console or arcade machine.

The accomplishment posted above would belong in the in the groove accomplishment thread. Why? Its a custom song, plain and simple. Its a DDR song, sure, but it wasn't played on DDR, it was played on in the groove as should be treated just like any other song played on the groove, whether its custom or not.

Stepmania was never supported in the thread. I don't think anyone has even tried to post something stepmania related, but again, even if its done on a pad, or its a DDR song, it belongs in the stepmania accomplishment thread.

I don't know, it always seemed straight forward to me. Everyone seems to get that on AIJ so I don't see how someone can't understand that on this site. Its like saying "DERP I PLAYED DDR X3 ALL DAY" and you post a ton of in the groove pictures of X3 songs that were played. You can't count those accomplishments towards Dance Dance Revolution (score tracker or not) so it belongs with the respective game it was done on.

Thanks for clearing that up Very Happy

Btw, you might want to clarify that in the first page.

Thank you for clarifying this; it was not entirely clear to me before.

While I personally don't see anything wrong with this, it's not my thread, so I'll certainly try to abide by the rules.

Finally, not to nitpick, but where would a score or video like this be posted? This is an old video of me, but I'm bringing it up as an edge case in an effort to cover all the bases.

- - -

I'm sorry for causing a stir; it wasn't my intention. In that an ITG cabinet is all I have access to, I'll stick to that forum for now I suppose. Sadly, Z-i-V's ITG forum is comparatively dead, and the AIJ forums (where ITG use is more commonplace) tend to ridicule anything DDR-related and are, in general, too caustic for my tastes.

Ah well.

I think that would be okay over here. It's still being played on DDR and it's just an edit on a DDR song. Someone correct me if I'm wrong. Tongue

I agree with Kon, and although I normally don't mind if someone says they played through a chart from X2/X3 on an ITG machine or Stepmania, especially if they don't have access to such an arcade mix of DDR, it becomes a problem when any sort of comparative "accomplishment" is claimed in relation to other people that actually played on a real DDR system. The steps and placement may be the same but the whole way the timing system works is different (SM/ITG measures windows in milliseconds, DDR in frames) so there is no "DDR-perfect window" settings, just an approximation (albeit reasonable). For similar reasons, home versions of DDR have timing windows one frame larger for every judgment except Marvellous (for some reason). It is possible to hack a home version of the game to change the timing windows to that of the arcade, but there is no way to know that from a photo or video of gameplay.

...yeah, I went off on a bit of a tangent there.

For me, I don't have any new PFCs, but I have a score AAA on the new If You Were Here Challenge charts on single and double. They are a bit tricky/annoying in spots but I should be able to PFC them if the wind blows in the right direction.

Also, even though I suck at Anti-Matter single, I have actually been doing all right at Anti-Matter Double Expert. I don't think a PFC is anywhere close, but I could see a score AAA on it with enough practice.

DDR edits are okay. It was done on a official version of the game. It obviously just can't be counted towards you "Score Tracker Count" (as in, it just counts as an accomplishment in the game and not towards anything else) as the chart is fan made and has no real difficulty level assigned.

I will be editing the first post in a minute and edit this post when it done.

Edit: Done. It already said what was needed in the first place, but I clearly stated this is for only official DDR games now. I also added two useful links since I always sucked at updating the ZIV Top Ranker page. So thanks Aaron for always updating yours Tongue

Happily got my record today for the most AAAs in one day.

Amazingly, I actually managed to get all 10 in 45 minutes, I'm quite proud. Tongue And now I'm gonna lay down lol.
- All on Expert/Heavy/Maniac-
#1: .59
#2: era (nostal mix)
#3: On The Jazz
#4: Yozora No Muko
#5: The Reflex
#6: D2R
#7: ever snow
#8: It's Raining Men (Almighty Mix)
#9: Super Star
#10: Holic

I hadn't been feeling well all day, decided to have a quick on my DDR machine to see if it would make me feel better.

So apparently when I'm super chill and not actually trying for AAAs, it relaxes me.. ergo allowing me to get AAAs. What.

I'm now 38/152 into DDR Max 2.
At this rate I should be done somewhere around January. Maxx Unlimited is still at 2g solid, 4g on video.

I uploaded the pictures on the score tracker, but I really can't be bothered to paste everything here, lol.

Challenges for next time:

MaxX Unlimited
Burning Heat

These are my only two serious issues with the mix now I've got past my mortal enemies, Max 300 and CSFILSM.

That quick master stands out to me for some reason, nice job on the others too.

Played an hour on Extreme to get a few I didn't have on it.

Extreme
210. It's Raining men (straight forward.)
http://i301.photobucket.com/albums/nn80/DDRD573/New%20DDR%20folder/th_DSC00616.jpg
211. Fantasy Lockout (easy)
http://i301.photobucket.com/albums/nn80/DDRD573/New%20DDR%20folder/th_DSC00617.jpg
212. Little Boy ( A lot harder than singles, no wonder its a 9)
http://i301.photobucket.com/albums/nn80/DDRD573/New%20DDR%20folder/th_DSC00618.jpg
213. Sky High (Feels funny, quite different from singles.)
http://i301.photobucket.com/albums/nn80/DDRD573/New%20DDR%20folder/th_DSC00619.jpg
214. Some Where Over the Rainbow (plays like singles)
http://i301.photobucket.com/albums/nn80/DDRD573/New%20DDR%20folder/th_DSC00620.jpg
I wonder how many will believe me when I tell you SWOTR was sightread. It's funny too cause I was telling my gf before and during the song that it would take me lots of tries cause of the slow down. Half way through I still had it and said, hold on, I better shut up.

So that makes nearly 84% of extreme done. After checking, if you asked me back in June, I'd say my percentage was less than 2%.

I've been working on some of the harder 9's the past few weeks. Here is some of my progress.

TL100-2
HIA57MG-3
Mikeneko Rock-3
Sakura Expert-3 (challenge at 1)

Going for some of those and a bunch others this week.

Thanks Derek, that song is really hard to score well on. When I first tried it here I got 3g which motivated me to get it fast.

I believe you'll clear EXTREME soon.

I can't even get SDG on TL100, HIA57MG, and Mikeneko Rock :/

Also, I'm amazed at how you can play well while maintaining a coherent conversation.

I believe you. I also got it sightread when I got it, and I also thought that it was gonna take me a million tries to get it. Good job, Derek.
