DanceDanceRevolution (PS3 & Xbox 360) (International)

Glad to see the Wii version's called Hottest Party 3. Having three games with seperate interfaces on different consoles sharing the same name would get pretty tiring and confusing after a while.

Hmmm is it possible that "DanceDanceRevolution" is simply a placeholder name for all four versions then?

Wouldn't it be weird if they were ALL called that? ^.^

My guess is, as opposed to past years, there's at least going to be a noticeable core group of songs shared between all of the titles. PS3's and 360's may BOTH be Universe 4, for that matter, and PS2's/Wii's = HP 3. (That would make sense, considering the hand markers' near equivalence to "hands and feet mode.") Only time will tell for sure, though!

I'm not really a huge fan of the name DanceDanceRevolution since it sounds like a regression in the sequence of games, which is why I kinda hope its just a placeholder.

I'd personally like it if the different versions were:
Hottest Party 3 (Wii)
Universe 4 (360)
DDR Σ -Silver- (PS2)
DDR Σ -Gold- (PS3)

Or something like that...

Personally, I liked the Vol. 1 name. It fit perfectly with the idea of uniting all four consoles into one uniform game.

It's a good thing Hottest Party and Universe aren't going anywhere, but since this a multi-platform game, and thus a blend of all four (still with some characteristics unique to each), labelling the Wii and 360 versions as continuations of those platforms' series would be a little out of step. Not only is this game designed for all four platforms, it would be really off for the series to have games that share so many features with the editions of the other consoles. It kind of steals the name, doesn't it?

Yes, they all have differences, but that's mostly a given. They can't exactly be...well, exactly the same.

But Hottest Party IS going somewhere. The Wii version was re-named Hottest Party 3.

The idea of having a universal game on all four systems is pretty cool, but they should all look the same gameplay/interface-wise then so it's still seen as a single game.

Idk, little things like that bug me.

Well at this point, all we can do is deal with it.

Oh just wait until the PS2 version is rebranded to the identity of the next AC version and the Xbox/PS3 version becomes something like Universe 4ever.

But then, if that's the case, why not just name the other titles in their respective "series", PS2 being the "main" one, 360 Universe 4, and PS3?...."something"

Hottest Party 3 is the "main" one.

They haven't revealed the game titles yet, or which overall differences / similarities the different games will have.

I think we all consider the games to be DDR Universe 4, Hottest Party 2, DDR CS 15 and a PS3 game with a new brand and identity. Whether they stick with the working title of "Dance Dance Revolution", or give the games their usual brandings, each game still has a completely unique identity, and we're always going to think of them as "The next Hottest Party", and such?

DanceDanceRevolution UNIVERSE 4 (3 in Europe) for the XBOX 360 and DanceDanceRevolution (X-2, Y, somethingorother) for both PlayStations. I can't believe that Konami wouldn't transpose the main series to the PS3, there no way to continue it on the PS2. Even if they wanted to be stubborn like EA and the PSOne they've still only got room for two or three more titles on that platform.

I looked at the new screen shots posted on the main page and when I saw the PS2 pics, I'm like WTF they are adding something similar to Mario Party into the game

I'm in complete and total shock over this

I don't care about the whole naming convention. I just don't want Konami to fuck this up again.

Liking the Mario Party-esque story mode as I can only imagine that's what it is. Unless it's another special mode like a minigame or party mode.
