VOTES
+5 Chronoxia [TaroNuke]
+4 DIAVOLO [Oni-91]
+3 Fubuki [Loodee]
+2 The Sealer ~A Milia to Milia no tami~ [Silverhawke]
+1 A Thousand Leagues Below (MMX Remix) [Scarz]
^ Competition for 2nd-5th was EXTREMELY fierce. Honestly, I felt they were all about equal and I'd give you all the same amount of points if I could. In the end it mostly came down to how much I liked the songs (or in DIAVOLO's case, the fact that Oni-91 did the unthinkable and actually made DIAVOLO fun to play).
HONORABLE MENTIONS: MAD HEAD LOVE [brunobg24], Espada (Alonso Montero Remix) [DDRDAIKENKAI], I Took A Little Something [Pie-kun]
Total:
Chronoxia [TaroNuke] - 5
ONE [tamtamino] - 5
DIAVOLO [Oni-91] - 4

Well, I ran out of time to make a qualifier :x I would probably have had to drop out later on in the contest though, so it's for the best to drop now instead.
Anyhow, have some DOUBLES MODE BEST MODE votes

Anyhow, have some DOUBLES MODE BEST MODE votes
Back to Love: (DH) The vocals aren't quite on-beat and I wouldn't recommend following them so much. That said, most of this chart is not super interesting, but it's not offensive, either. Going forward, I'd revisit patterns like beats 26-29 (this gives the sensation of tripping over one's left foot), beats 35-39 (this is a slow crossover but a very wide one; moving beat 37 to 1R would help transfer the player's weight a little), and beats 64-67 (one foot between U and D is a lot to ask).
Crystallized: Remember, copy+paste+mirror is a great tool, but you should disguise it a little! Switch ups and downs, or change the patterns slightly. (DX) A skillfully written chart for a much more subdued song than it should accompany
Lots of ambiguous jumps (L+R followed by U or D). The jump roll on beat 162 is a little obnoxious; it can't be rolled safely with the music at that BPM, so you'll have to add extra subdivisions. Notes missing at beats 207.250/207.750. (DH) Here's the chart I was expecting to set the highest slot. The triplet rhythm in beats 182-184 is slow enough to be stepped accurately and not throw off the chart.
Garakuta Doll Play: (DH) A risky chart, but it pays off. Some of these crossovers are much more jarring than you'd expect though (2U-2L-1D-1L @ beat 48, 1L-1D-1R-2D-2U @ beat 64, 1L-1U-2L-2D-2R @ beat 310, the full swing @ beats 326-331 come to mind) Watch your right-facing bias (obvious for sections like beats 215-240).
Hypersonik: (DH) Quite good. Use some smaller crossovers too! Hot damn, that one triplet crossover was like to burn the floor alive. I like the "123456 do it we're here we're back"'s, but I'd like to see the second one with up and down arrows switched.
MAD HEAD LOVE: (DH) Pretty high-octane 9, but looks like fun. Don't be afraid to use jumps that use an arrow from each pad (like 1U+2L or 1R+2D)! You won't have to jump halfway across the stage as much, and the "ba-by-ba-baby I love you" patterns will flow better. Also don't be afraid to use crossovers that include the center arrows. Some ambiguous jump-step combos scattered around (L+R followed by U or D, usually). A sudden stretch at beat 240. Beats 80.667 and 81.333 sound like they should be at 80.500 and 81.500.
Oboro: (DH) Feels 100% like an official X3/#NEWDDR chart, down to the close central steps followed or preceded by normal side shuffles. Perhaps understepped in the beginning and reprise, but I did appreciate the callback from the reprise to the beginning. I wish the first "spin" worked, but they're quarter notes and I'd doublestep that anyway.
The Sealer: (DH) I like this. Lots of variety in the center of the pads, good selection of rhythms. Not so sure about the 1L-1R-2L-2R/2R-2L-1R-1L bit, but it's not a dealbreaker.
Tricky Disco: Yipes, that's a rough cut at the end. (DX) No technical mistakes, but the chart is completely non-memorable. Some more pad-switching would go far - or any patterns besides trundling back and forth around the stage. 144 BPM eighths are a very comfortable speed for most players, and you can do a lot with it. (DH) Slightly more memorable, but with an absurd right-facing bias.

Here's my votes for singles. May I say picking this top 5 might have been the hardest top 5 I've had to do. Nearly all songs were fun to play. Anyway here's my votes.
+5 Do Back Burn [Gameoson]
+4 Chronoxia [TaroNuke]
+3 Shanghai Kouchakan~Chinese Tea Orchid Remix [CLOUDIO]
+2 The Sealer ~A Milia to Milia no tami~ [Silverhawke]
+1 Fubuki [Loodee]
Honorable mentions (In order):
Spinal Fluid Explosion Girl (DIVELA REMIX) [ddrstepper]
DIAVOLO [Oni-91]
MAD HEAD LOVE [brunobg24]
Take Me Out [darkanine]
Insane Techniques [King_Mew]
In the event of a tie in votes, your seed will be random within your ranking of simfile. I can see an event of like 6 or 7 people having no votes, so if anyone is wondering in case of that event.
I should have doubles votes either tonight or tomorrow.

To be fair this is one of the best sets of simfiles I've seen from ZIv. There's only 5 that can be voted on so don't feel bad if you don't have any points yet. How knows? No votes could land you VS a higher seeded simfile artist and you can ruin someone's party. There's enough good files getting no votes that I could see a few upsets happening when bracket play starts.Post #168 · Posted at 2015-03-10 06:33:06pm 10.2 years ago

Why are you deducting points from Oni-91 like that? Is that some new rule you're adding

Post #169 · Posted at 2015-03-10 06:48:44pm 10.2 years ago
It doesn't have to be just not getting votes. It's the anxiety of having your file that might suck to compared to others when it doesn't appear first on the vote tally. Like we are less than other step chart makers.
That might be what Nightmare's going through. and me. Been a long time and I'm afraid I'll be one and done. ;;;

Maybe people should stop including things in small text that they don't want to be noticed and then get kind of mad when it does get noticed?

"Fast 'n Bulbous!" |
Woo. I just played through all the singles files, and I have feedback for each file! Well, it might not be very good feedback since for some songs I didn't have much to say except "It was fun". Anyway, these were all pretty decent charts, and there were some that I absolutely loved. For the record, I played only the
charts on an actual pad.
And my votes:
+5 Diavolo [Oni-91]
+4 Chronoxia [TaroNuke]
+3 Fubuki [Loodee]
+2 Act III [xXMokou98Xx]
+1 Take Me Out [darkanine]
+1000 Insane Techniques [King_Mew]
Honorable Mentions:
Air Reading Power [tsugaru7reveng]
Do Back Burn [Gameoson]
Espada (Alonso Montero Remix) [DDRDAIKENKAI]
Singles Totals
Recalculated due to an error Pandemonium X made.

A Thousand Leagues Below (MMX Remix) - I like the crossovers. They were tricky, but fun!
Don't really have much else to say
Act III - Woo! Gimmicky 12th note steps! A bit too tricky at some parts for me, but still very much enjoyable.
Air Reading Power - Solid charts. Some parts seemed a bit too repetitive to me, but overall it was very fun.
Back to Love - Personally I felt like the difficulty was rather forced here. The steps don't match the relative "lightness" of the song. Maybe try toning it down a bit?
Chronoxia - I loved this chart. It was very fun and matched the song perfectly!
Chyrstallized - Nice.
chart matched the song well. I didn't get a few patterns in the middle of the song. I especially loved the slowdown part for some reason.
Diavolo - This was amazingly fun. I smiled all the way through playing it.
Do Back Burn - Fun song and chart. I feel like more could be done with the song, but that's just me being weird and craving gimmicky stuff.
DOODAH! (K.O.G. Re-edit) - Fun little song. It felt like it was missing something, though. Maybe it needed some more crossovers? Somehow the chart did feel like a song from an early DDR Mix, and that made it quite enjoyable.
Espada (Alonso Montero Remix) - Good file. Fun chart that went with the song. Not much more to say.
Fubuki - Fun. That's a lot of freezes there! Not that it was a problem in this file; they fit right in and never feel forced.
Garakuta Doll Play - I couldn't beat this song on the pad... but it was good. matched the song's chaotic nature rather well, and I liked the tricky patterns at the end.
Honey Trap - Interesting chart. I like the variety of rhythms in the file. Not much else to say.
Hypersonik - Nice. There is quite a difficulty spike at the end when compared to the beginning and middle, but I don't mind it (and that's how I make my files anyway
). It was kind of weird to see it suddenly jump in difficulty, though.
I Took A Little Something - I liked this chart, but the beginning was kind of meh for me. Loved everything else after that, though.
Insane Techniques - 11/10 best file in the set, whoever made this is a genius and is also probably incredibly handsome
LET THERE BE LOVE - Fun chart. Not much else to say about this one... sorry
MAD HEAD LOVE - Crazy song and chart! For some reason I didn't really enjoy it though.
Music - I think you went a bit overboard with the steps here. The
chart is way harder than it needs to be. Also, the audio was a bit too quiet for me, but that was easily fixed.
One - There are a lot of right arrows in this song. I think adding a bit more variety to the chart would make it much more fun.
Promenade - The
chart is way too hard, in my opinion. The chart doesn't really match the song in terms of difficulty.
Run&Run - Fun song and chart. Don't have much to add on this one.
Sadistic Music Factory - For some reason, I did not particularly like this chart. I still enjoyed playing it, but it felt like something was missing, or off, when playing it. I'm stumped on what bothers me though.
Shanghai Kouchakan~Chinese Tea Orchid Remix - Nice song and step rhythms, but the step patterns themselves were a bit bland. The song mostly features LDUR - RUDL - etc. patterns. I think the chart could benefit with some crossovers thrown in.
Spinal Fluid Explosion Girl (DIVELA REMIX) - Great song. Personally, I think some of the rhythms are a bit off in the file. I feel like there are steps to rhythms that don't really exist in the song. Maybe it's just me, though.
Take Me Out - Great file. Loved the song. Not much to say, though.
The Sealer ~A Milia to Milia no tami~ - Good chart... but for some reason, I don't particularly like this one. I don't know why. I just feel like there's something missing from the chart. I don't know what, though. It's probably just me being weird.
Wanyo Wanyo - I felt like some of the patterns and rhythms weren't that fun, while other parts were fun. The middle was the most enjoyable part for me.

The

To be fair the small text is getting annoying but that's just me.
Also sorry for the points being off, I knew something seemed strange about it but did not think twice of it.

All charts played on 1.5x with flow of steps kept in mind. Ambiguity is kept at a minimum this way so patterns that may seem awkward at higher speeds can be focused on for better understanding. I did use SM5 in case you want to check the measures and beats I reference. All difficulty comments are based off my personal opinion, but I'm crazy so feel free to ignore them

I can't promise to make full reviews for singles, but I'll get my votes in before the week is out. I will do my best to keep up with them through all the doubles rounds though, since I care about them more. Hopefully Crystallized gets some more love soon, it's really depressing how bad it's doing with how much fun it is on pad.

DOUBLES COMMENTS
Back to Love [DDR Addict] - Oooh, synthpop. Good sample length that leaves me guessing what the rest of the song is like. Very basic banner, but readable.
I just couldn't follow the rhythms used at the beginning - it feels like you were following the lyrics but then switched to nothing, then back to lyrics. After the little 32nd trill, the chart gets a lot more solid, though the U+D with one foot is a little rough in M16, same with the L+R stretch in M31. The jumps are awesome, though the crosspad ones really push the difficulty up in this. Oh, and that's the end of the song. Ok then.
starts with some of the same following nothing for a second (B20.5 [I guess you can *kinda* hear him trilling his voice or something]), but becomes a rather solid chart. Definitely not a 5, this is really tough.
That backward crossover in M15...lol. The transitions between patterns between M32-47 leave you either jumping across or completely switching feet, but it's keep consistant so it's not really an issue.
Garakuta Doll Play [mf32892] - Probably one of t+pazolite's best. Good sample length, graphics are clean/readable.
Minus some minor foot placement concerns that aren't too serious (M48, 74) and the sudden difficulty spike with the crosspad crossovers at the end (M101-106) this was very solid. I feel as if maybe a few more jumps could have been thrown in, but that's just personal taste.
The crossovers at the end of this push this to a 9 imo, but I don't see anything wrong with it. Good step down from the heavy chart with different rhythms accentuated.
is solid as well, though also feels underrated, maybe an easy 6.
Hypersonik [Pandemonium X] - The sample alone has me bouncing off my seat. I expect this to be hectic as all heck. Banner is clear and readable, sample isn't too long.
M51 has a very hectic crossover that just feels really out of place, same with the one on M63 and in M80 (the latter two are not as difficult, they're just kinda out of place). Overall very solid, left a lot of possibility for a nice challenge chart maybe somewhere down the line? On
, M 57-68 has a series of patterns that leave you double stepping kinda of randomly or facing left and just turning weird the whole way. Super tough, even for a 7.
has a weird crossover in M11 that's just weirdly placed, and you set up M81/82 to have a weird doublestep with the transition.
Mad Head Love [brunobg24] - Not a fan of the music, but the more I jam out to the sample writing this the more I like it. Banner is clear and readable, sample is good length.
was rather amazing, but small things like the stretch in M14, the 12th shenanigans in M20/21, and the stretch crossover at B240 which are absolutely possible but just feel forced kind of detract from the grand scheme of it.
is solid,
is as well but should definitely be rated at least a 5.
Oboro [ledgam3r1279] - Hyped for this, a song I actually know. Sample is a good length and though the banner is all kinds of basic it's clean.
was great, minus a few transitions between M27 and M34 that were identical and awkward. M59 really threw me through a loop as well until I played it again, that's just an awkward position to put somene in. Like Telperion said with his review of my chart - Copy+Paste is good, just switch it up a little here and there to make it less obvious. With
, the crossovers and sheer arrow density at some points really push this to a 6, but it's sound patternwise. The same came be said with
- It's a little bit tougher than you rated it due to crossovers.
The Sealer ~A Milia to Milia no tami~ [Silverhawke] - Listening to this I can't wait to see if it's potential was taken advantage of. Banner has no text which makes me a sad panda. Sample length is good.
was rock solid, though I felt the light melodies at the beginning were a little overstepped and some of the crosspad patterns near the end really almost push this to an easy 9. Definitely as good as I was hoping with the rave reviews from everyone else.
has just as many turns, which makes me happy since people have to learn somewhere, but it's maybe a bit much sometimes xD
has the same issue - complexity at a grand scale for such a small rating. All personal opinion, of course ^.^
Tricky Disco [NuVirus] - A classic indeed, I've only seen this song being played for like...7+ years now xD First time I've seen doubles, though. Sample is what you'd expect, though it cuts out a little early it seems, and the banner is clean/readable.
Felt really really easy, like you tried to play it safe by not chancing much, and I think that's the problem. A lack of any real complexity just makes this feel bland, though accurate with the rhythms.
faces the same problem, but at least has some decent step density, which would really stand out if you took a couple chances with some creative cross-pad transitioning instead of focusing on one side then safely and quickly transitioning.
is solid as well, though it also seems to avoid the center as much as possible and is a bit rough for a 6 imo.
takes some chances with it's little 8th note sets and what appears to be slightly more common transitions, feels about right as a hard 4.

Garakuta Doll Play [mf32892] - Probably one of t+pazolite's best. Good sample length, graphics are clean/readable.

Back to Love is DDR Addict's file, not mine.
