Well this is something. While I'm always glad to see the series is still continuing, I can't say I've got a good idea of what I think of what we know so far (even if it isn't a lot). The lack of a subtitle for the game at the moment is meh, but hopefully they're trying to come up with something instead of being lazy and calling it X4
TAG PLAY sounds nice, I'm assuming by the 'same time' it means the same step judgements? I'd like to see people great-attack a song and see how much the synchro-bonus boosts their points..
As for the blue combo.. I'm with most others when I say it's not the best idea in the world. For the CS games it's not terribly bad since there are differences, but I don't see it working well with AC games.
.......as long as they don't implement the DDR II scoring system...

Thing Konami should do: now they've got a "blue combo", when someone gets a full good combo, make the announcer say everything the announcer usually says for a full combo, but in a highly sarcastic tone. "I CAN'T BELIEVE MY EYES!"

Or you know, get rid of the announcer completely since everyone hates him more or less.
But that's wishful thinking on my part I'm sure.

3. "GOOD" judgments will continue combos. COMBOs with GOODs will appear blue.
getting some of the latest CS jives I see. FC is not quite a bragging right anymore lol
I wonder how this will affect scoring and battery lives?
Seconded. I wonder how the Risky option would work now. Will we still fail if we get Good or Miss? Or just when we break combo?

The GOOD combo thing is not that big of a deal really. Think of it this way: it's not going to change anyone's overall song score or letter grade.

...Unless they pull the same bull**** scoring that the PS3 game did: Goods gave 50% of the max score, and Greats 75%. In addition, the score requirement for a AAA was lowered to 975,000. Yes, this means that for any FC, a PS3 AAA was equivalent to merely a regular AA. That's highly unlikely though.

On-topic now: It's killing me to know if they are literally rebooting the series (again) or they may just slap in DDR X4. If a reboot, I'm curious to find out what things they will try and put into this game that could be considered "new" and what they take out. Hell, I'm just curious how this game is going to turn out like the rest of you guys.
I think they're trying to re-introduce the whole arcade thing to the entire world, hence the new name, much like was done a few years with game systems. Whether or not it will work? They'll probably take all the licenses from DDR/DDRII and add some newer licenses, along with a bunch of new content. At least, that's what I really really want them to do and they'd be pretty stupid not to

But in DDR and DDR II both had scoring similar to the AC games didn't they? DDR PS3 had a very weird scoring system because it had chain arrows, groove trigger and other such foolishness.

DDR II has the same scoring system as SN2-X3, but jump freezes in DDR II give two OKs instead of one (not sure why). The good thing is that 990k is no longer a AAA; you have to get the PFC for the AAA.
Not sure about the first one, though.

I really don't like the good full combo thing. It's just...not right. I wouldn't be so proud to get a good full combo. And Zowayix, yeah they completely messed up the scoring system in that game. That's why I stopped playing it.

Watch this now change into a debate over what is truly an FC and what is not now that GOODs count toward an FC.
Think of it this way: As Pie said, you get a GOOD, you're not getting a PFC, just a plain FC. The scoring system stays the same so it's still playing just the same as any other DDR AC past SN2.
Also, you do have to stop and wonder why GOOD wasn't even implemented for an FC in the first place if it really wanted to cater to the casuals way back when the GOOD's were put into the game for the first time. It's a GOOD step judgement, it's not BAD or MISS, we've preconceived the whole notion that getting a GOOD step takes away all our chances of getting even a Full Combo, but that was because the game was made that way in the first place, now this change is making us go insane because it now allows GOOD's to get an FC. BIG DEAL, If you get a GREAT, will you get a PFC? You still have to work hard to get a PFC!
Besides, if you want something REALLY messed up, KONAMI could have counted BAD's for an FC. Now THAT would be grounds for a debate.

*sees all of this "GOOD" and GFC speculation*
All I care to see at this point is:
A) The Songlist
B) The interface
C) The announcer
That is all.
how could I forget the Stepcharts? Duh.

*gripes about Goods counting for combos*
But isn't DDR like the only game with Miss/Bad/Good all breaking a combo? Hmm. It'll be weird, but if it's official, it's something we can get used to.
Optimistically thinking, if they're going through the effort of revamping scoring (hopefully not very much, for the oldbie's sakes...), maybe it's a confirmation that they want to keep the series going long enough to use this scoring.
Sssssooo, we can expect testers to post updates shortly after 10:00 a.m. in Japan, right? Isn't that like... in four ish hours? Unless I have it all mixed up... just really impatient about news. xP

@XeneSyS 87 except it's not speculation; it will be in the location test
Maybe. The test will be held in Tokyo Leisureland 2 in Akihabara, the only arcade with 5 DDR machines in one room, but the arcade doesn't allow cameras.

And people still slip cameras in there anyways.
