It's apples and oranges, really. Nobody's ever going to agree on which songs are harder than others, so I can only make assumptions based on which songs I expect Konami would deem to be 10s, and which they'd deem to be 9s, if they were to shrink the scale back to it's original size. It's not going to give us a difinitive scale either way, because this is a game which will be played primarily on soft mats, meaning Possession quickly becomes one of the easiest of the RDA songs, and Valkyrie Dimension becomes effectively impossible.
How does Possession suddenly become easy on a soft mat?

You can play almost the entire song facing the screen, without ever having to turn to the side or do a crossover (The only crossovers are in the intro). The softmat completely negates the jumps, because you can slide accross them without your feet ever leaving the ground. The last 10 seconds are still kind of hard, but made a lot easier, and on the whole, it's probably the easiest RDA song to pass on a softmat. Assuming you can read it, it requires absolutely zero effort to pass, compared to the 14s, which don't really change diffiiculty on a softmat.

I think the Dynamite Rave rating of 12 is meant to reflect the easier chart added in regional variations of DDRX?

I can already predict that DDR II will have the most new-gen bosses, having already included the Replicant D-Action, as well as Universe 3 Bosses deltaMAX and 888.

No need to predict, it's already on the reveal list.Post #1768 · Posted at 2011-09-25 12:41:53pm 14.3 years ago

My prediction for reveal 4 = All Bemani crossover for X2 (Fire Fire, Smooch A, Yellow Candy, etc..) (approximate 10-15 songs)
Reveal 5 = 2 Bosses songs for DDR II (Jun and undergound alias) and oldies stuffs. (Approximate 10 songs)
Maybe Roppongi evolved (+ver.D) including too.

Will jun ever do a boss song like SUPER SAMURAI again? D8 I love the bouncy happy sugary love songs, but something badass like SS would fit along all these very hard songs better.

I hope local stores like Datablitz won't jack up the price when they get it available here. It's $29.99, right?
I also wish I could get my Wii soon.

I think you have it right...
We know sixty songs so far and I would be shocked if the rest of the x2 stuff did not make an apperance. Even though this game has the most boss songs already it would be strange if we did not receive an evolved song. I would like reveal 5 to either be repeats or more x3 stuff.

I'm going to be so dissapointed if this game doesnt have Challenge. So far this game is 10/10 but If theres no Challenge it'll be like a 3/10, a failing grade for a DDR game. I really hope we get some confermation of this soon.

They've wowed & worried us with tracks that are going to damn well rely on the inclusion of Challenge and the new rating scale. Either of those don't turn up and it's just going to look goofy.
Also, who was it that was worried that the Wii series characters were not going to be featured in this mix? The intro video has shadows of very recognizably Wii-styled characters so I think it's safe to say that they'll be in. Aeron secretly hopes for Pix

I noticed that they are pretty much chopping pieces off the X2 ost. CD1 songs 1-10 are (mostly) the 2nd reveal, songs 11-24 and the last 2 are in Hottest Party 3 or PS2 "X2 CS", Between being RDA songs which was reveal 0 / -1, how you look at it (the screenshot from U1 page). CD2 songs 1-11 (minus PTF which was in the same 2 games i named before) are in the current reveal.
So i think it's save to assume the next things are related to rest of the CD2 songs (IIDX Crossovers) or CD3 (what are those, japanese lisences? pfff i think not)

I don't know, IIRC jun went through a period of depression around mid 2007, which is when SuperNova2 and Hottest Party 1 both came out. It's only in those games where you can see "dark"-sounding songs by jun like Paranoia Hades and Super Samurai.

As for the ratings, no one can deny that Konami isn't perfect at rating their charts. CSFILSM rated a 12? No. Shades of Grey harder than Sexy Planet from Nonstop Megamix? No. Valkyrie Dimension Difficult rated a 15? No.
Even before the scale change, who would agree that Witch Doctor was easier than DanceDanceRevolution?
You have to realize that these songs are rated as a general difficulty for the masses. exotic ethnic I find easier than Fire Fire only because I've played exotic ethnic a million times. I find Fire Fire only mildly more difficult than CSFILSM. Just like you get people who can't agree on what Max song is the hardest (some say LoM, some say Unlimited, even some say Max 300).
Also, these songs are rated based on chart complexity, stamina, speed, etc, where as most of us tend to rate songs on rhythm complexity (a common mistake that modern age DDR players make). They're just as opinionated on Konami's side as they are on the player's side. I will say Konami does seem to no longer factor in the scroll speed of the chart (bag a 13 now? they know with speed mods it's no where near a 15).

^There is a such thing as an "easy 10" Fire Fire being a 10 would just close the massive gap DDR has between the difficulty of 9s and 10s.
Ratings are arbitrary anyway. No matter what you rate it, the chart is still the same difficulty it would be with a different rating.
