On a related note (assuming it wasn't pointed out earlier), The opening line of "I Know" from Bust a Groove 1 was also used in "Put Your Faith in Me" (or was it the other way around).
Both are vocal samples, but yeah, I Know was earlier.Post #1722 · Posted at 2013-07-12 05:36:05am 12.4 years ago

The Stream value for Secret Rendez-vous's Challenge chart from Ultramix 4 is approximately 69. Coincidence?

It's kind of funny how there is a version of the SMOKE background that has the guy's cigarette blurred out...but in Alphabet Aerobics in ULTRAMIX3, they left in the lyrical reference to smoking weed ("detonate a dime of dank").

I thought the cigarette had always been blurred; what was actually 'censored' were the bullets in the background.

Oh okay. I thought I saw two different versions of the background with the cigarette's censorship, but I might be confusing myself.

That reminds me...ULTRAMIX, 2, and 3 are the only DDR games where the Beginner difficulty was red (UM2 and 3) while Standard was blue.

Wow, great find with the beta Emi. That outfit looks really creepy on her.

What's creepy is that they used her 14-year-old head on a fully-grown body model. Having painted-on clothes didn't help so they changed at least that.

I thought she "was 17" by the time UL2 was under development. Either way, that'd still make her a minor.
There are plenty of beta screens for Ultramix, and it looked pretty much like an update from 4thMIX. Also, EX US was meant to have the green EX AC theme.

He is right about the EXTREME thing: The game was originally going to run the same interface as the arcade version but was scrapped for the much blander and uglier EXTREME theme.
I'm not too sure about the Ultramix stuff though. I know for sure that there are some characters that never made it out of beta and the interface changed several times. One of the characters was Nurse Zukin... and I do not remember the rest. There was a nice image (preliminary box art I believe) which showed many of the characters and only a small handful made it to the final game.

ULTRAMIX was originally going to be based off the 4thMIX engine Konami had ported to Windows for the PC version of DDR. Because ULTRAMIX was originally going to be for the PC. The ESRB website still has the entry for the Windows version of ULTRAMIX. And the original beta screens for ULTRAMIX showed 4thMIX BG animations with a unique UI that still managed to look old and 4thMIXy. They also showed a completely different set of characters (Including what looked like a Nurse-Zukin) that were all completely scrapped by the time the game launched.
...And Ashura posted the link to them while I was typing.

I clicked on the link to the early EXTREME screenshots & I noticed something in one of the images: the image with the song wheel shows that Sweet Sweet <3 Magic as 1 of the songs in the game. Oddly enough, the final product did not get that song. Nonetheless, the other 3 songs in that image are in the final game.
