So, Better of Alone and The Way I Are won't be included in the next DDR game?

We don't know whether they will be or not. It's just best to know that just because the Royalty Network says its been licensed does not mean it will appear.

If it isn't, we're going to have a serious problem. Post #1725 · Posted at 2009-07-03 04:35:54am 16.6 years ago

Just listened to The Way I Are and no offence but what an awful, awful song, seriously. If you like listening to such stuff then fine, but seriously that song does not belong in DDR.
Better Off Alone, yes that would work well. Nice beat.
Sorry I don't mean to insult anyone's music taste, mines hardly stellar, but I just don't think some songs are really suitable for DDR.
Personally I'd rather see more stuff like this:
Plus it's been ages since we've had a woman who sings dance like it has several 'R's in it. Not since Dancing Stage SuperNOVA CS in fact with Lady Sovereign: "put on your darrrrncing shoes".
Oh and with the death of Dancing Stage I wonder what will happen with all those European licences we used to get. Do you think that I might see another Sugababes or Girls Aloud song in DDR or couldn't the US market handle it?

Well anything dance-y really, but yeah that song would be an awesome addition to me.

Well, I'd want at least one song by 2 artists (and I'd highly doubt that they'd get these, because... Well... Yeah...):
Britney Spears (Maybe Circus) and Micheal Jackson (Maybe either Thriller or Smooth Criminal (The Radio Edit is actually very good)).

Personally, I think DDR could use a nice bit of classic house stuff. I really enjoy songs like Put Em Up from X. I think some Lil Louis or Marshall Jefferson could be a lot of fun in DDR.

I think Michael Jackson would be too expensive to licence, now even more so with his recent passing. Also I like a lot of Britney's older hits more than her newer stuff however I rather like the Dancemania covers like 'Oops... I Did It Again (Fired Up Mix)' from 5thMIX, and although I know that it is unlikely we will see another Dancemania licence in DDR I'd personally love to see 'Stronger' covered by Helen, which was a very good dance remix in my opinion.
You know what else DDR is missing these days? Kylie songs, even the US versions had a few of her tracks like 'Love At First Sight' and there are still plenty of good ones Konami could choose from.

Heads up to anyone in France, NAOKI will be appearing at Japan Expo 2009 in Paris to (assumingly) present the new DDR games.

Make sure you bring rotten fruit.Or if you want to be nice and productive about it, ask if the EU and UK can expect a release 10 months after Japan, and exactly like the US release.
If he says anything about DDR X AC, ask if the EU and UK can expect a release of the same quality as the US release.
Basically, drive home the point that you want a quality cabinet with no announcer.

I don't think Michael would be too expensive per se, I just think Konami is lazy lol.
I'd DEFINITELY love to see some more Kylie though and The Queen of Pop N B, Janet Jackson.

And to ensure that you get close enough to ask him, wear a suit with a notepad and pen in hand with a business hat and a camera man behind you.

AFAIK, Naoki had almost nothing to do with DDR X. In the credits, he just had the basic "Sound Producer" title, but both he and jun (who was the Sound Direction in SN1 and SN2) did a majority of their DDR work on HP2/FFP.

He's a big man involved with DDR. Close enough.Post #1737 · Posted at 2009-07-03 07:35:04am 16.6 years ago

I doubt he has any control over how his work is used, your looking for the localisation team, and more prominently the bigwigs who set release dates and decide what is or isn't used across the different versions. It's pretty obvious that the only reason so many licences in the US releases are dropped for the EU release is just to save money. A majority of the licences would be more than suitable for Europe, or at least the UK. I certainly wouldn't have minded playing ''Can't Stop The Rain' (lol Cascada, a EUROPEAN artist), 'Love On My Mind', 'And Then We Kiss', 'Come Clean' or 'Do You Want To'.

As far as we know Naoki positioned himself to be the producer of DDR because of DDR X. He strikes me as someone who genuinely cares about the series as he's been so intertwined with it since the beginning.

Could be a reason...He probably saw that DDR X might have not been up to it's expectations, so he stepped in to correct it with an all platform release with DLC, 8 arrow mode, some pretty good licenses, and other stuff >_>
Just wish he did it for the AC version of DDR X

They're not that lazy. After all, they did a cover for Black or White in Hottest Party 2.
If they chose a licensed song from MJ as a surprise, boy would that please me. Especially if it was one of my favourite songs.
