So I think the real reason most people don't enjoy DDR is because they can't move their fat arses off the couch. Couch Hero lets them just sit on the couch, like most video games. So it's more popular, because people with muscles in their legs are rare as hen's teeth.
I should use this more often. "No, I'm not gay for playing DDR, you're just too weak!"Post #1702 · Posted at 2008-08-05 01:15:09am 17.2 years ago

and the fact that keep making Guitar Hero for each system. lol one for the DS, PS2, Wii, PS3, and XBOX360 I mean one is enough a year, but they pushing like 8 or so a year. its crazy.
The way I see it, it's how Activision works. They take something that's popular, and milk it for all it's worth until it dies down (when that happens). Prime examples of this are the Tony Hawk and the Call of Duty franchises.Quote: Kynayo
Y'know, why do they/ what's the best thin about Guitar Hero? It doesn't get you active, DDR can (I mean if you play on the mat). It plays music... big whoop, DDR can too(maybe not the best music but still). Guitar Hero doesn't train you for real guitar, I'm serious it doesn't, sure, DDR doesn't train you for dance, but there are classes for that!
What's so more special about Guitar Hero that EVERYBODY need to go see? sure I mean Guitar Hero IS fun, but still, DDR is better, and I think people should recognize that.
Hell, DDR helped me lose about 15 pounds...but then I gain it back...lazy me...What's so more special about Guitar Hero that EVERYBODY need to go see? sure I mean Guitar Hero IS fun, but still, DDR is better, and I think people should recognize that.

You wonder why Guitar Hero is so popular. The skills can't be used outside the game (no exercise and it doesn't make you a better guitar player), and it's more complicated than just pressing buttons.
If DDR isn't popular because of the moving required, why do people like Wii Fit?

I'm not going to say that I lost alot of weight, because I probably gained the weight back, maybe even more, but the fact that its a great game, with awesome songs, is the real reason why I enjoy it so much, Its like your having a time of your life while dancing. Thats how it is to me.

The only reason I haven't been losing weight on DDR, is because I eat horribly, and when I'm not playing DDR, yeah, I'm a couch potato... Also I'm fourteen.

Wii Fit is in between. It provides the illusion of burning a significant amount, without actually requiring much effort. Thus it's liked by people who want to pretend they're trying to lose weight, and people who want game assisted stretching.Quote: Kynayo

People that young shouldn't be worrying about losing weight. Though there are a few that should.Post #1709 · Posted at 2008-08-05 02:11:05am 17.2 years ago

DDR also isn't popular because well... it's sort of hard to get good at the game. Why do you think all the skater punks make fun of it? You know that deep down, they want to be as good as you

it doesn't really take that much effort to get good at the game, once you get used to it, its more or less moving your feet faster thats pretty much it. Its like Beatmania IIDX you have to get used to the controls, then you can start pratcing at the harder songs and soon you'll be a good player. Like me I can only do a 3 diffuculty on Beatmania IIDX, but I sucked horribly before. It just takes time.

The real reason people like Guitar Hero more than DDR is, Guitar Hero is simply more American.
Guitar Hero has the mainstream rock music that North Americans love, while DDR has the euro, catchy dancemania songs that men find "girlish". Especially if you're "dancing" to it.
Obviously, that's not the case but most people see DDR in that light and it throws them off.
"Why should I cover a game that only a niche group nows loves, while I can be covering Guitar Hero which everyone enjoys playing?" Is what the press says.
I really like Guitar Hero but I also like DDR aswell.

But really, if you're over 150 at fourteen (or under) you have a weight problem... So that's when you pull out this fabulous video game!
Also, another reason I probably haven't been losing weight, I'm under 100 pounds XD

You know, if you have more nutritious meals then you'll get taller. Then you can step on the people who made fun of you for playing DDR.

I really like Guitar Hero but I also like DDR aswell.
....prime example: At my school, i actually got my principle's permission to have like a DDR fundraiser for the Cure for Cancer (or Walk or something like that)...now we did get SOME money off of it, but while the thing was going on, a kid came over and asked me this:Guitar Hero has the mainstream rock music that North Americans love, while DDR has the euro, catchy dancemania songs that men find "girlish". "Hey man, wouldn't it be great to have a Guitar Hero club with the DDR Club? and you could take care of both of them right?"
I responded: "Yea man, that's great, now try and ask one of the admins to see if you can get that up...because i can tell you right now, unless it is EDUCATIONAL and it gets you physically fit, then it's unlikely for that to happen, i mean hey if you get a teacher to help you, that's great, but the only possible way that you can get this up is if you convince them that this can be a benefit."
Basically, he was trying to "help" me get more people to be interested into the club (and that was nice of him...), but if i was to do that then it wouldn't be a DDR club, it would just be a DDR/Guitar Hero club, and you can probably guess where most people will end up going...
and well we talked some more and he left, and so far it hasn't really happened. But i could understand what he was trying to do, basically ALOT of people prefer playing GH/RB because there is ALOT of North American music and pretty much it's very popular, DDR has a wide variety of music, that most people aren't familiar with (except for EX2...but it has some familiar licenses such as Get Busy and I Will Survive) so i can completely understand what you mean by that...
...and it's not like i hate GH/RB, their pretty cool >_>

*sigh* Little Konami recap thing on E3. It shows Universe 3 AND Hottest Party 2, but does not even acknowledge DDR X.You can see it off to the side when the camera is going through E3, but it's another one of those cute shots where we can kinda-sorta see the banner of the song. Blech.

It wasn't meant to be in-depth, though. It's not like they showed the complete demo songlists for HP2 and Universe 3 (the latter would never happen anyway), and left DDR X completely in the cold.*sigh* Little Konami recap thing on E3. Yeah, but at least they acknowledged those two's existence. I suppose I could understand that with the CS JP version of DDR X already announced, they didn't want to confuse people.
