DancingNinja2010 found an preview article on DS SuperNOVA2 in UK's Official PlayStation Magazine, so thanks to him:
And what's this about emo music? Finally some MCR or FOB?
!
Quote: Official PlayStation Magazine UK
MAT'S ENTERTAINMENT
... but don't expect much that's new in Dancing Stage Supernova 2
PUB Konami DEV Konami ETA September WEB www.konami.com
In America, the Dancing Stage series of dancemat games is called Dance Dance Revolution. We're not sure why the name was changed for the British market, but it's a good thing it was. If they'd released Dancing Stage Supernova 2 with the word 'revolution' on the pack. Trading Standards might have had to get involved, because this is no revolution.
Konami has stuck to the formula of singleplayer, two-player, workout mode and challenges that's made the Dancing Stage franchise such a success, adding only a few extra trimmings to justify the '2' in the title. Well, if it ain't broke, as they say, why fix it?
The most interesting feature is a singleplayer option that lets one person use two dancemats at once. Great if you're a dancemat expert who wants to practise for showing off in the arcades of Tokyo; even better if you're a human/spider hybrid who finds a single four-direction mat cramps your eight-legged style.
Tune up
Apart from that, you've got a new career mode, a new type of challenge that takes a 'four strikes and you're out' tack, and the option for online multiplayer with up to four people going at it hammer and tongs.
Plus of course, there's a bunch of new songs to throw shapes to. This includes plenty of the sub-Eurovision techno-cheese and high energy J-Pop that we've come to expect from dancemat games, of course. But there are other genres too - probably the widest selection of music types we've ever seen in a dance game. Yes, people, this is where dancemat goes emo.
Rather less positively, the other main thing that's changed since the last game is that there are now no real videos for any of the songs. Sure, the ones in the first game looked more than a bit pony, and we said as much in our review of it. But we'd have preferred to see them improved than rather dropped altogether. It shows an ironic laziness in a game that demands a lot of effort from us.

Personally, I think she is right in some aspects but totally wrong on others. XD... but don't expect much that's new in Dancing Stage Supernova 2

Konoko?
And that single player option could be one of two things: if it's Double, she's got it VERY wrong, as it's been around since the beginning. If it's Double on one mat, she's slightly less wrong, as that's featured in all XBox/360 games, and on PS2 from Max onward (I think). And Challenge Mode being new? Er, nope, it was in the last three DDRs you reviewed.
And she used 'dancemat' as a generalization of the genre, ergo, everything that exudes from her mouth is toxic and must be avoided as such.

Quoted For Truth. People who use the term "dancemat" usually don't know much about DDR; I know this from experience. Then again she probably reviews games that are not rhythm based.
Hopefully what she says about SN2 being a lazy rehash isn't true.

Looking at what the US got (which, let's face it, is effectively 98% of what we're getting), this could be very true...

Damn it, why do we always get the short end of the stick? I just hope the 2% of exclusive content is worth it. A free demo of PIU/ITG/IIDX would be worth my while!

Whether I buy it will solely depend on the licences, both the number of them and the quality, but judging by the mediocrity that the US got this time round, I'm not betting on anything spectacular. They've screwed us over so many times, they won't hesitate doing it again.
Though, even if it did have good exclusive licences, it'd have to teleport unlimited alcohol and real scantily-clad women into the room I'm playing it in before I even begin to consider that the delay was justified.
And don't get your hopes up about PIU/ITG/IIDX. PIU isn't Konami's, ITG isn't going to be revived by Konami, and IIDX would need a IIDX controller just for the demo. And the last thing I want to see is the price being jacked up.

You'd think they'd do their research before writing about it. XD
It's not as bad as that beatmania US review none the less and it's only a preview of DS SuperNOVA2, not an actual review; I doubt the actual review is gonna be any better though.

Well, the ratings that OPM/OPS2M gave the DDR series were:
EM: 6/10 (later raised to 8)
Party: 9/10
Fever PS1: 6/10
---
MegaMix: 7/10
Fever PS2: 6/10
Fusion PS2: 6/10
Max: 7/10
SuperNova: 7/10
So, it's not that they don't like it. It's just that they can't do research for shite (i.e. too busy fapping over Guitar Hero/Rock Band).

Aw, come on. The licenses are actually a decent difficulty and that doesn't increase the rating?

Five
And four out of the five were pretty awesome.
Party was the best mix on PS1 for anyone who could handle the lack of beginner. All Music mode had all the lovely disc images I adored and 51 total songs was great for the PS1.
Shame that Fever and Fusion took a dive with 16 and 12 total songs respectively, and the PS2 mixes weren't that much better to be perfectly honest...

Wow, I didn't realize that I had such a good PS1 mix sitting at the bottom of my PS1 pile. Goddamit, I should actulaly give Party some attention.
And judging from their very basic knowledge of the game, I doubt they would be able to get to ES XD
