I'm missing MSVCR120.dll. I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling three times as it recommends but it's not working.
Try to load this file from here http://fix4dll.com/msvcr120_dll . I had the same problem and it fixed mine. I am sure it will help you. PS that site is a good one.

yeah, a lot of times my programs complains about missing DLLs i just get DLLs there (or i think there's a similar site) and dump it in the same folder as the program (or maybe you can regsvr32 it).

Just to check: Is there anybody out there successfully running Stepmania on 64bit Windows?
If that is the source of the problem, it would be good to know.
Running SM5 on 64-bit Win8.1 without issues here. If that is the source of the problem, it would be good to know.

I wonder why msvcr12.dll and msvcp12.dll aren't added in Program folder, while older msvcp and msvcr dlls are there. This will remove the requirement to install msvcp2013 runtimes manually.

I liked the new Selection Parameter on OptionList, but it would be better if a Selection has SubSelection ID, this to make more specifically stuffs to a determinate Options on the OptionList.
Example, my OptionList has the first selection called "Player Options", and the first one of that selection is "Note Spacing", the only limitation im seeing here is that everything will affect the firt selection no matter it is a SubSelection or a Main Selection.
Or to prevent that to make code for sub-selections, sub-sub etc... Instead of a ID Number, it got the name you set on Metrics.ini (ExampleLine1="name,<This Name>;screen,PlayerOptions")
params.Selection == 0 --> params.Selection == "PlayerOptions"

Musashi, Kyzentun:
I'm running it on 64 bit Windows 7.
Maybe the security (UAC) issue of windows 7 affects running, e.g. preferences.ini or profiles saving.
To avoid that, you can turn off Windows UAC, or change stepmania 5 into portable mode, just add an empty file named 'portable.ini' into stepmania root folder.

Mine is also 64-bit on Windows 7, but changing UAC and putting portable.ini didn't solve the freeze; it only put the program in a window.

With My theme, doing some stuffs, I saw what happens if I enters to the Edit Mode using PLAYER 2, and I got an error:
Assertion 'GAMESTATE->m_pCurSteps[PLAYER_1] != NULL' failed
I would like that you can edit those parameters and prevent the hardcode that requires only the PLAYER 1... Btw, I can access to those screen from my OptionList.

Edit mode for player 2 is all sorts of broken because of the way edit mode was written. Hopping straight from Select Music into edit mode is also not supported because various various things have to be set up perfectly for edit mode to work, and only the existing screen for picking a song to edit does that right now.

I have to add something, I always uses my Theme now to play, I notice low performance when I play on the version 5.0.9 compared to the 5.0.7, using my Theme and render D3D (it give me so much fps than opengl).
During ScreenGameplay on 5.0.9 I get ~90 average FPS compared to almost ~200 average FPS with the 5.0.7 using the same settings and same Theme. I dont know why the fps on 5.0.9 are technically the half than 5.0.7 and I can notice the fps difference a lot using my theme.
I hope next version improve better the performance.

Download it from
http://www.dll-download-system.com/home/m-dlls-not-system-/msvcr120.dll/details.html
and copy it to your game folder and system folder.
