What makes you think the project will stay at roughly 6.8 gigabytes. Do you think I am going to stream 60 gigabytes of content to more than 1 person? Just mail it.


I guess my bias towards this great song prevented me from judging the steps strictly. But I never noticed anything wrong with the steps. What's the issue?


People who actually make this projects a reality get to define greatness.

We're 8 pages into this and learning more and more information.
Hype levels are at an all-time high, let's not stop now.

Though I am curious, with a pack this size you could still have it available for download no problem, just divide the simfiles and video files into separate downloads. If need be, you could also spread them out into several downloads so that people aren't all going to download the same file at once and possibly overload a website with traffic. Just a thought.

Who in their right state of mind will download this so-called "pack" you're preparing? At 6.8 gigs, it doesn't sound very appealing... Also, are you giving the creators of the simfiles credit/asking them if you can use their stuff? To me it doesn't seem right to just take someone's simfile and put it into something they don't know about.

Nobody will get to download it. Only samples are available to entice volunteers. The game is no longer 6.8 gigabytes, but 6.92 gigabytes. If you want to define greatness too, get involved. You don't have to send me your hard drive unless you want my resources. Just script a music video. Everybody gets credit. The folder names are named after the source of the step charts and the music video's file name(s) are the author of the video/picture. You can go ahead and try to contact the step charter and the music video artist. Just keep in mind most people are not lifestyle hobbyists. Only a few artists are still contactable. Even great step charts and music videos are obscure, and it doesn't seem right to let them lay fallow forever.


I will enjoy it if you find out that setting music videos to existing Stepmania packages isn't easy. There is sourcing, organization, and synchronization to worry about. Especially when you take into account other factors like wasting time being overly ambitious with your project and life issues. But go ahead. Do a whole bunch of music video enhanced Stepmania packages that are good enough for the game.

...look, there's no denying music videos can be difficult to implement properly. But here's the thing: failing or succeeding at that aspect, the main focus of a stepmaker's pack is still the steps he creates for it. If you want to make a good impression, 20 songs with good new charts (maybe with videos for good measure) beat ~170 old songs with only videos added in almost everyone's book.

There are already more than 190 gigabytes worth of miscellaneous Stepmania packages in the entire world and a lot more than 20 gigabytes of simfiles. There is not a pressing need for new step charts. I can make a good impression with about 20 sets of step charts, but that wouldn't be fulfilling an unrecognized need. Also you are using the word everyone lazily. Does that include people outside of the influence? The first thing somebody wants when they adopt to Stepmania is something to run in the background. Most people don't like Stepmania by default with just still images. You might as well have art run in the background.
