Man this tournament got way harder!
Surprising scores from these songs, and I failed 2 of them.
Here are my best scores:
Song 1:

Song 2:

Song 3:

This got insanely difficult really quickly, and should I have known it was going to be this difficult, I would've bought some mods to really help me to get a higher score, but now all I have is the one score, and two failures.
Probably won't be in this tournament for long now.

Surprising scores from these songs, and I failed 2 of them.
Remember, I said don't take screenshots of "Failed" screens. Now you'll have an insanely low score and if someone gets an A on a song and an E of two more and they post those failing scores, they will have a better chance at staying in the tournament. I NEED SOMETHING TO COMPARE. Pleas DO NOT post "Failed" screens anymore. If your current theme does not show failed scores, use another theme that does or the default theme when you play rounds for the tournament. This goes for everyone.
Append: Do you guys have that little experience with mods? I'm not saying that as a bad thing but as a serious question. I've always seen videos with people using mods and I'd think that such avid players who get AAAs and perfect full combos all the time would be able to handle them. Tipsy is not that hard of a mod IMO. The one mod I can't really play on is Tornado. I hate that one. As I said, I'm not saying it's bad that these mods are hard, I'm saying that I kind of expected differently.

I have experience using them, but not often enough that i'm totally comfortable with playing with them on. I just get AAAs on charts where i'm using x-speed mods only
Tipsy is not the hardest mod as you said, but Planarian is pretty all over the place, and only having 1 chance to play it adds a good deal of pressure. I fucked up big time on ΕΛΠΙΣ because of the .75x speed mod, sudden wasn't too big a deal but the notes being so clumped together made for a rough read. I don't think any changes need to be made, we just have to improve our mod reading abilities.

Dude you need to see planarian on Tipsy for yourself. That, and you're playing with Vivid (though tbh Note doesn't make lots of changes), sometimes on a certain part, the 16ths stream will line up together, looking like a 3-note chord lol
Also I made planarian with a shitton of crossovers and twisting so yeah Tipsy makes it even worse.

You can play it again and record it. Just to demonstrate the round. Just don't submit your score. The allowed attempts of play are only before a score submission. You can play the round as much as you like after you submit your score without going over the allowed attempts of play.

Lol. Well I can't be biased with mods because of charts. I think you made great simfiles. And I like that I didn't have to use so many mods to make it as challenging as I did.

Well said. It's good to know how contestants deal with charts and mods and why. I can make rounds based on that. Like I can see what most people have a hard time dealing with and challenge them with it or I can go easy on them but throw something else at them that they did not expect. Either way, the tournament won't be boring.
Another thing. I think I should make it very clear in next years beginning post that this tournament will always be hard. it's not made to be easy but it's not made to be impossible either like the last tournament.

As far as mods, I rarely ever use them unless I REALLY want to challenge myself. Most of the time i use X-Mods to find a BPM range I'm comfortable with when dealing with either a constant tempo, or changing tempos.
Tipsy is a really hard mod to deal with especially with a chart like this one, and the fact that I have to use the Vivid noteskin makes it close to impossible to get a good score.
As for my playthroughs, it was too bad that these mods managed to screw me up THAT badly. I understand making a challenge, but not when humans aren't capable of doing so. Someone can do this, but the majority might not be able to. I'm not saying make the tournament easier for them just to keep things even, but at least give people a chance to work their way up to soon accomplish something.
Also, I've been having a little confusion with the shop.
There are points and stars in which one can spend, but do they have to be spent at the same time, or can they be used separately?
If they can be used separately, which is more important, points, or stars, and what would keep you in the tournament, also, you didn't specify the LIFE Difficulty of this tournament, and the entire time, I've been using LIFE Difficulty 4, instead of 2 or 1 which is probably why many others have been able to achieve those low scores and I haven't.
Otherwise, I hope I see great scores from others by the end of this tournament.
P.S, How would I spend my points? Should I PM you what I would like to purchase? I've noticed that for some, the Star count, and point count are inconsistent with each other. Please clarify.

Really? Well if there are any themes you know that display failing scores, use them please. Before you play a round, see which themes do that.

This, I can understand. The difficulty might have been ramped up too quickly, but the amount of users who have been eliminated has increased drastically. I will try to properly calibrate the rate at which difficulty increases based on contestant elimination. Contestant elimination rates govern the length of the tournament (amount of rounds) and the length of the tournament determines the rate at which difficulty rises. Spoiler: The next round should go in the opposite direction of these, given the winner of this round chooses a simfile with more difficulty levels other than heavy.

1. You can spend points separately.
2. Neither points nor stars hold greater importance than each other other than value. If you look at the bottom of the store you can see how much points a star is worth and how many stars a set amount of points is worth.
3. I specified which life difficulty was to be used in the first post under rules and requirements. I said Judgement difficulty instead of life difficulty, but just the same. You MUST use default judgement and life difficulty settings in stepmania.
4. When you post your score, clarify which items you have used for that round and the amount of points and stars that a required for the use of that item. If you use an item in which you do not have enough points or stars from and you have reached the maximum amount of attempts, your score will be invalid and you will be eliminated so MAKE SURE that you have enough points or stars to use any item from the store before you begin the round.
Let me also remind everyone that it is a good idea to practice using options and mods that I have specified for a round on another song with a similar chart or even the same song with a different chart before you play any round that you think might be too difficult. As long as you submit your score in time, you can practice all you want.
Quote: Android
Quote: KNS-17
I tried practicing with brake on a few other songs before trying this one.
I recommend doing this. It's not cheating nor is it an unfair advantage because it is not the same chart as what is being selected and all players have the exact same amount of time and resources* to pass each round.
*By resources I mean SM 3.9, a provided simfile, and a keyboard.

275 and 8 stars was my original amount, but here it is now with extra attempts:
Extra attempt on ELPIS:
down to 75 points and 6 stars

I spent 3 stars to get 100 points bringing it up to 175 points, and 3 stars, and spent another star for 50 points.
Total now is 225 points and 2 stars.
Extra attempt on Planarian:
down to 25 points/0 stars

Glad I got that score on Planarian, but I should have really tried hard on ELPIS, but I'm going as is.
