I'd like for the home versions to actually have the same mods as the arcade versions (particularly the Wii). Why should DDR II have to lack mods like Boost, Brake, Wave, Hidden, Sudden, CUT2, 0.5x, 0.25x, etc.?

It's time to go back in time and reduce the amount of american licenses. Do we really need all of these pop/rap songs that nobody even wants to play? I'm sure this was already mentioned but it's such an annoying issue.

It's far cheaper for the North American team to license popular North American songs that mainstream society enjoys; but hardcore DDR players hate. As for the uber-easy charts, there's no excuse for that to happen. It doesn't cost additional money to write a stepchart in a certain way. Plus Dancemania is dead; so there's no hope for Dancemania licenses except for revivals.

I'm with you on this; i'm sick of tired of seeing American pop licenses that are mostly in the 110's-120's BPM (very slow, IMO) which can't be hard no matter what kind of rhythms they use. Let alone some pop songs are just unbearable to listen to, perhaps, an insult to hardcore DDR players everywhere.

I'd much rather play 200BPM songs that sound like "noise" than listen to American Pop garbage. Mad

As far as Dancemania goes (or rather, a lack of Dancemania), it'd be nice to introduce a new breed of artists to the DDR universe. Which ones? Why the fans, of course! ZIv should be an easy example of good original music and creative chart creation from so many users i'd need quite a few hands to count them all. However, a business is a business, and Konami isn't going to introduce fan-made content, or change their policy on licenses, just because the fans want it.

This community itself could make a brand new DDR game. Oh wait, that's already happened on several occasions.

They could at least pick good pop; honestly, not all of it is garbage. In the past year or so, I've been hearing a lot more DDR-able songs on the radio that would legitimately be nice, instead of past license choices like Vida la Vida... might be a good song but what was that even doing in DDR...? Or instead of picking songs without a decent cut like Pocketful of Sunshine. Or songs that are... just all out annoying like whatever that Pussycat Dolls song was.
... although these are all X2 CS, I did really like X2 for DMM's concept, albeit a somewhat cruelly executed concept...

But back to licenses... DDR II was going in a lovely direction, I thought. The Spice Girls chart was all right; I personally love Just a Dream as a song even if the expert chart is way too blasted easy. My younger cousins were playing the Bruno Mars songs among other licenses. I'm too ashamed I like certain American music to suggest good licenses but... they're out there, really. ^^;

What does get on my nerves is when they bring back really old songs that no one cares about anymore that are nothing more than annoying and painful to listen to for a majority of the DDR audience. Girls Just Wanna Have Fun, Video Killed the Radio Star, I'm looking at you. I think they did it on DDR II ssssomewhere, but since unlocking everything I tuned out the stuff I didn't like... xP So I would be happy with contemporary only, unless it was remixed to sound like it actually fit in with the rest of the game or something. Am I in the minority when I say I actually liked Say a Prayer...? Although it doesn't count as old, I guess...

Bangarang is 110BPM, not really "20" material.

You know, i wonder...

What mainstream licenses out there are faster than 150BPM? Maybe one of the reasons we keep getting 100-115BPM master licenses is because there just aren't any "well-known" songs that are above that category?

Time to prove me wrong guys Happy

Detroit Rock City / KISS (183 bpm) and Dance, Dance / Fall Out Boy (229 bpm) are two I've already thought of. I'll start checking the database.

Is... 137 bpm?

I thought 150 was a larger number than 137.

"Let's Do the Rain Dance"
La Bamba - LH MUSIC CREATION - 155 BPM
Reach Up - Alien Six - 150 BPM
The Rockafella Skank - Fatboy Slim - 152 BPM
SUITE LIFE THEME SONG - SUITE LIFE - 203 BPM
Synthesized - The Epoxies - 189 BPM
Take on Me - a-ha - 169 BPM

These are all CS license songs in the US from the last 5 years above 150 BPM. Yeah, there's not much, but still a good selection. I can vouch for Synthesized and Rockafella as fun charts myself.

Hard Rock, Classic Rock, Heavy Metal, Drum'n'Bass, and Happy Hardcore (re: Diskowarp) is where it's all at. Not sure how the dancegame community would feel about this, but I'd LOVE it, personally.

I doubt hard rock, classic rock, and metal would go over well, considering how many people bitched about Fall Out Boy being on SN1 US CS. Everything else sounds like fair game.

Why can't there be more Trance licenses like DDRMAX2 NA CS (Heaven, Will I?, Take me Away; just to name a few)? Licenses that actually SOUND danceable and are of a decent BPM (130's-140's). Those weren't from Dancemania, were they? As they didn't appear in any Japanese mix, IIRC.
