I don't think that was ever integrated for SM3.9, so it probably isn't on the EXTREME build.

Notice you changed the Legend of MAX simfile. Haven't seen any other changes. I'm using some of the files in my main Stepmania so I have the BGScripts... should I replace the Zenius version with your correction to the freeze note?
"stepchart edited by beware: fixed the freeze to have the correct length (it ends 1/64th note after the stop)".
Or has the file already been corrected in the Zenius database?

Most of the old songs were updated (since last year) using DDR X3 AC data, so it's not only limited to TLoM. Max300, Drop Out, all songs with fixed broken 12ths and others come to mind.

Also there is a timing difference between the newest files and the bgscripts used for all of Extreme and some other songs, namely due to the changeover to .ogg files. It's not too bad, but it stands out in songs with countdowns like 321stars and Twinbee. I don't expect this to be a priority though given most will just play it with the default mp3s.

First things first, LOVE this simulation for Stepmania, beware. Next to my OpenITG setup, this one's always the best Stepmania setup to give a spin whenever I'm feeling nostalgic.
That being said, I'm trying to figure out how to enter the options menu. My laptop doesn't have a Scroll Lock key, so I'm wondering how on earth can I access the menu; I tried to change the key to access it in the Keymaps.ini, but I'm not familiar with the way Stepmania's Keymaps are listed with all those numbers. Which one should I change to access the options easier?

Press F3 to toggle between Pay, Free, and Home modes. Go to the Home mode and enter the options menu from there.

So... I just got my hands on a stepmania cabinet so I've decided I'm going to make it look like ddr extreme but with some tweaks to add features of some of the newer series.
First problem I'm running into is if it's possible to modify what it sorts by? I've tried changing the MenuLeft+MenuRight in the [CodeDetector] to SortMenu and then adding my custom sort menu in the [musicwheel] as:
SortMenuNames=GROUP:TITLE:HARD METER:CHALLENGE METER
SortMenuActions=sort,GROUP:sort,TITLE:sort,HARD METER:sort,CHALLENGE METER
ModeMenuNames=GROUP
ModeMenuActions=sort,GROUP
but I must be doing something wrong because it does nothing. Am I missing anything or is there something about this build that isn't allowing me to do it this way?

Is there working on getting beware's extreme simulation to work with a mimimaid usb? It's a device that was built for DDR arcade cabinet. Beware's extreme will work, but someone has to make it compatible with the lights driver for minimaid. It requires some programming, which I don't have.

So I just stumbled across this beautiful, beautiful piece of work. It's fantastic and I'm enjoying it a lot, and this is the only place on the internet I can find any sort of information on it.
So I registered just to ask if I'm doing something wrong or if setting the fail mode in options doesn't seem to do anything? Every other setting is fine, I was able to change things like framerate and resolution and coin-op mode without any trouble, but it seems like even if I set "fail" to off, if I start a song and don't press anything, it fails out the moment the lifebar empties out. My only experience with DDR is with one of the PS2 games, so I might just have it wrong.
I know this thread's been up a long time, but if anyone could help me out it'd be greatly appreciated

I think in order for the fail to be turned off is to switch to home mode by pressing the f3 button while running the program.

Even in Home Mode, setting "Fail Mode" to off doesn't make any noticeable change.
As a workaround I've just set the whole thing to "Free Play" and "Event Mode" since that seems to pretty much be the same thing.

So I made a DDR EXTREME PLUS out of Beware's DDR Extreme. Made out of total boredom.

Can you please upload this some where else I don't want to download Open Software Updater in order to download this theme.
Post #156 · Posted at 2015-04-14 08:29:36pm 10.1 years ago
You want just the theme, right? I'll grab this whole thing and then save the theme to Mega or zippyshare if you want.
Er, wait a sec'... this theme would only be compatible with beware's Extreme simulation, because this theme and build of SM are modified in special ways that make it more like the actual arcade... Well, I'm assuming you already have beware's Extreme and I'll just go ahead and upload the theme separately anyway. If you use it with normal 3.9 or whatever, it might crash it though.
Update: THEME EDIT: see later post...
I just zipped the whole Themes folder from the Extreme Plus DL, so back up your original if you want to revert back to it at some point, then replace the whole Themes folder with this one. The Themes folder includes a folder called Default, as well as the Extreme one, so I don't know if Extreme needs to fall back on anything from the Default, but it's there just in case.

I have 3.9 already and Beware's Extreme program just the theme shall suffice thank you.
btw Mega is coming up as malware for me, so my computer won't let me download it. So time to upload some where else please.

How would one go about modifying the courses that are shown and selectable? I've already got the default song wheel and song list changed, but I'm having trouble getting my own courses displayed.

The download worked fine for me. Try downloading from another computer perhaps?
Update: I've reuploaded the theme to archive.org, so I hope that'll work for you. If not, well... I tried.

Anyone have experience making song "card"s like the ones beware made? I'd like to make them for all the supernova and beyond songs since many of them have symbols that don't show up (like "/" for example before artist names) I want them to look just like the font from extreme but I don't how to get the font to match in photoshop. Is there a font type/color/size combination in photoshop to make it match?
Have you gone into the Course folder and modified tried changing the text files there? Here's an example of the BeForU Oni course:
#COURSE:BeForU; <- Insert the name of the course here
#COMBO
ERFECT; <- Insert these lines if you want an ONI life bar
#COMBOMODE:1;
#LIVES:4; <- what the ONI life bar starts at
#SONG:ex19 rue... (trance sunrise mix):ANOTHER; <- Then just start adding songs (don't forget the folder they're in)
#SONG:ex04DIVE (more deep & deeper style):ANOTHER; <-foldersong name
ifficulty
#SONG:ex19Firefly:ANOTHER;
#SONG:ex20ever snow:MANIAC;
#SONG:ex20BREAK DOWN!:MANIAC;
#SONG:ex20CANDY [max2]:MANIAC;
That should be it... I've never actually modified them personally but I'll make sure I can when I get home and let you know.
I was poking around and it looks like Beware made static lists for extreme specific things like the default songlist, demonstration songs, courses to show on the highscore screen, and of course oni and nonstop courses. You can find them in the metrics file (StepmaniaThemesDDRextreme_bewaremetrics) just open it with notepad or something. (just Ctr+F for "list of oni courses" or "list of nonstop courses" and add your new ones to the list) Hope that helps.
On another note has anyone had problems with selecting modifiers on an official cabinet? Why I ask is I'm using dedicated menu buttons like the arcade does, but the modifier window uses dedicated up&down in addition to the normal right&left. I only have the two yellow triangle and the one green square button on the cabinet to work with, so I can go in and set my speed but without up & down buttons to map to all I can do is hit select which jumps me down to the bottom.
Is there somewhere in the Theme folder I could go into to tell the modifier screen that the select button should be treated as a menu down button, and could I also set button combinations like holding the two triangle arrows plus select to be menu up like in the arcade? (I'd also like to remove the combination of P1 sel + P2 sel being exit. I don't know how many times I've been playing with someone and we hit them at the same time just to have it jump us out, really annoying)
