That's the idea. I'm not sure if it will work on simfiles that don't explicitly have the jacket listed in the .ssc file though. We'll see.

That's half of what I'm talking about, the other half is will older simfiles work. The .sm format doesn't even have an entry for listing the jacket file so I'm going to run some tests and see if StepMania 5 is smart enough to just look in the song folder for anything square-shaped and still know to avoid the background (Which also may or may not be specifically labelled as such by the .sm).

Just a little something to point out, when there are 0 things in a section on the results screen, the 0 on the right has a stroke effect.

I'm seriously going to petition our DDR club to start using Stepmania 5 JUST SO THAT THIS THEME MAY BE SEEN BY ALL. Seriously, the amounts of absolute sex emanating from those screens (even if they are just mock-ups) is enormous. Good work, Dan!

It isn't. It will try to find banners and backgrounds by itself (and maybe CDtitles) but it won't look for jackets.

Hmm... does the theme/Stepmania 5 have some sort of way you can specify song genre, or is that "Trancecore" label just going to be there for every song?
Also, is that the splash, or is there always going to be a bloom effect on the stepzone/lines on either side of the lanes?

Just some nitpicky things, but overall HNGGGGGGGGGGGGG WHY CAN'T I +5 YOU MORE.

The Trancecore and it's object are there as part of the background to add a bit more detail, it's not a theme element so it won't be part of the songs.

EDIT: Yes the combo splash will have the same outward bloom effect it does on X2 AC.

I can't spend much time with the theme because of other things but I am making progress. Understand that we're still figuring out what the final design is going to look like.

Song.cpp lines 627-629 kind of disagree. it'll look for "jk_*", "*jacket*" or "*albumart*". (should probably be changed to "*jacket" and "*albumart" though)

yes that's possible. not sure if the editor has an option to edit it but the genre tag is supported in .dwi, .sm, and .ssc files.

The beauty that is Starlight☆Drive. Sneak peek into the interface that will house the special songs. The same banners are in place since I can't obviously show everyone the secret songs until release.

I don't know if they changed it since SM4, but there was a #GENRE tag you could put in the .sm file.

I think that my only two gripes so far, going purely by those examples, is the colour of the groove radar titles and the lifebar. The former because, at least for me, it blends too well with the part behind it which makes it harder to read and the latter because it, well, just looks a bit boring.

Again, I can only go by what I see in those screens.
