I don't know why some characters are randomly silhouetted on the homepage.

They've been randomly updating that picture, bringing in more and more characters out of the silhouette as time goes on.

I have just about had it with how our NA CS's are two steps behind! also look at this screenshot:

notice something different? the combo now glows! i'm already starting to regret buying the US version

Seriously, I can see how people may be disappointed with content changes, but to complain because of combo glow?

I knew that I would.

Just goes to show that patience is a virtue.


It's just one of many examples of how US versions are nothing more than prototypes of JP versions.

The combo glow is to do with the full marvelous combo, perfect combo, or regular full combo.
it doesn't bother me too much, but it's a really nice touch.

It's been like that starting with extreme 2 but got prevalent on SN2. I can't think of a reason why they should release a version that is still not finished to the consumers. They could have at least waited till they leaked all the unlock codes.

it's more than that. it's the fact they also got the full combo splash. i bet their CS will also get alternative costumes for Zero and Bonnie (or possibly a new set for all). and seeing a noticeable trend, they will probably get more songs than us (i am predicting 90 to 100 songs at least).

They also get to spend more time on the game than they do for the US release. What really, seriously, makes or breaks a DDR game? THE SONGS AND CHARTS. All the glowy combos and character costumes in the world can't save it. They're a nice touch, sure, but seriously, get over it. I doubt Konami not putting in a few flashy effects in the US version of a DDR game counts as neglect.

Oh don't worry, the songs and charts will be better as always. I'm sure this is just the first among a long list of improvements.

We're just the test dummies for the Japanese market. They test unfinished features of the American versions to refine them in the Japanese versions.

Absolutely. There was no reason for them to release a new game just so there could be one each year. Seriously, we don't need CS games that often and the arcade version isn't even out yet.

Then again, if JP were first, we'd end up like Europe.

Should it be noted that they "souped-up" the announcer for the japanese version? Check the official website with all the coming soon pictures and see/hear for yourself (it's a video).

I actually noticed that too. In the video, the announcer who says "Dance Dance Revolution...X!" sounds different from the one we've all heard. Maybe they changed it...

Nope, I think it's still him (Ozomatli), only with echoes added (typical). Although konami changing the announcer seemed too good to be true.
