Let It Out

Yea, it's a horrible thing to go through but I've offered to help Toon rebuild with some of my master files. The whole ordeal prompted me to backup even more of my files now. I almost had that EXACT thing happen during my final semester in college. I somehow lost my USB drive on campus with all of my portfolio files in there with only partial backups in my laptop and I freaked out because there was like 3 weeks left before all of it was due. Luckily I got a text message the next day from the person who found it and after seeing my resume on the drive, she gave it back to me with no problems. I think I used up all my dumb luck for the rest of 2010 after that happened.

Later came not soon enough and I lost my stuff twice.

It sucks a lot.

Yeah despite being a pain to do sometimes, backing things up can prove itself to be good.
I was so close to losing my 16 GB USB stick when I was walking to school. My MP3 player was in the same pocket and when I pulled it out on the way, it fell into the snow. I realized half way and retraced my steps and thankfully no one took it. My friend also lost his USB drive recently that had all his school files and whatnot on it. I can tell he is still annoyed by that.
But yeah losing data always brings a big loss to me because my mind fills with regret and what ifs. All the best luck to Toon.

I try to back my stuff up at least once a month. I've gotten too frustrated at data loss in the past to let it keep happening.

I try to keep copies of everything across at least 2 separate drives. I've been stung badly in the past from an only backup getting deleted for the sake of someone updating WoW on a friend's PC (since my main (laptop) drive was dying from the cancer also known as bad sectors). Wouldn't have been as bothered if there weren't thousands of personal photos and documents on there which I can never get back.

Moral of the story - never trust others with your backups.

My 16GB flashdrive recently shit out on me. It doesn't get recognized unless I'm pushing it into the USB drive with quite a bit of force and holding it there. Luckily it only had a few school assignments that I had already turned in, so I didn't lose anything important.

Well, that's actually what I used to copy my downloaded movies over to my PS3. PS3 Media Server doesn't work for shit on a Mac, so I can't use that either.

Ha, when I lost my 8 GB flashdisk, I lost many PSDs of album arts I made long ago. Luckily I stuffed some of them inside MP3s as artworks (via iTunes) and successfully retrieved some. Also I uploaded some of them (in Graphics artwork thread), but still, I lost lots of things. I know how that feels, but I think my experience pales in comparison to Toon's loss.

Does anybody have it in something bigger, like 600x600 or higher?

I just found some of my VERY early unreleased custom backgrounds that I made about 2 years ago for some simfiles. As if things weren't bad enough already now I'm horrified after seeing these things. They make me cringe like big time...
