Just listened to that Swagger Jagger song, huh...Is it weird that I thought of that old song "Oh my darlin, oh my darlin, oh my daaaaarlin' blahblaaah". Apparently not because I looked that old song on YouTube and all the top comment are about Swagger Jagger rofl. That musical hook could be better if it weren't so squeaky sounding though, I can KIND of see why it's #1.

And yeah, she looks like she's trying to be a white Nicki Minaj AND she can't dance for shit. Like, why did they even how the clips of her dancing with those back-up dancers? They show two-second clips of her doing an unimpressive dance move badly.

Speaking of #1s, Shady-Katy's crusade to tie Michael Jackson seems to have hit a major hurdle. You may remember that she recently released a remix of her song Last Friday Night (which currently sits at #2 on the charts) that featured Missy Elliot and sold it for 69 cents. Though it was widely expected to put the song at #1, it has failed to do so thus far. When this week's Hot 100 is officially published tomorrow, it will still be stuck at #2. Not only that, but both the original song and the remix are falling fast. The original song is down 10% in digital sales since last week and has been moving down the iTunes charts. Meanwhile, the remix did not do as well as anticipated as it seems to have peaked in the Top 30 of the iTunes charts and is on its way down.

It doesn't mean it still couldn't go #1 though. Last Friday Night still has major radio play, which is a big part of the Hot 100 chart. If the original song+the remix can reverse their downward spiral and have their sales stabilize, it might be enough to squeak her way to the top. There's also a number of shady methods she could use. For example, she could discount the original song to 69 cents or she could record another shoddily-made remix with a famous face. Rumor has it that Rebecca Black was originally going to be featured on the remix, but she went with Missy instead. Though personally, I think Rebecca Black's 15 minutes are more than over. She got a "real" single out of it (My Moment), so she should be happy with that.

Anyways, I'm glad that for now, karma appears to be working its magic. Hopefully this helps put a stop to the trend of artists releasing shitty-remixes with other celebrities in order to bump up their songs on the charts.

I normally wouldn't be upset by an artist doing this, as there have been many that have, but she's doing it to try to tie (and eventually break) a legendary record and it's like, you need to tread really delicately when you're trying to reach "legend" status, especially when the guy you're trying to overtake just died a few years ago. Cheap commercial tricks do not make a legend.

Also, I think part of her is pissed because her songs chart as well songs from Britney, Gaga, and Rihanna, but she doesn't grab headlines like they do.

By the way, I think Swagger Jagger has that kind of "I must listen to this 20 times in a row to get it out of my head" vibe to it, which may explain it's commercial success.
