Actually, the GOOD window is tighter than GREAT window... trying to get GOODs is harder than getting GREATs.

"Give me a steady beat." |
I just got done playing sets on all the cabinet types for the first time since the patch was installed. Normally I'd just go with the white cabinet but the price dropped to 100yen for Doubles on the upgraded ones so sure, why not? While I'm still bias towards the CRT models (purely because of the visual response time and nothing more (born a sight reader, will die a sight reader)), I had no problem getting score AAAs on an X cabinet.
I was going to give a detailed run down but that appears moot since there's a new patch coming. So I guess I'll do it again after it lands and see how things are. Long story short, without intentionally trying to crash the X cabinet by selecting known problem songs as the first stage, I had no problems with my MA (my MA being crap, but no crappier than it normally is). I didn't notice it the first time but the current patch synced up the displays on the X cabinet with how they perform on the white ones so I was much more comfortable with the visual timing window.
I'm sure that performance players who are much more accurate than me can tell if there's still a problem at their level and I won't dispute them if they do. But if you play at my average (Great Full Combos @ 950~990,000), all three cabinets are just fine now.

This is absolutely true. Why do you think the "score 0 points" missions pissed so many people off?

Here's a quick visual comparison I made between IIDX, AC DDR, and ITG timing windows:

The black bar at the top represents the exact time the arrow hits.
As you can see, DDR has had the strictest timing for a full combo all along, and continues to do so even with Goods adding to the combo.

Take that, ITG perfectionists. We DDR peeps have a harder time AAAing things, and you guys complain DDR is too easy!
Then again, they haven't seen Valkyrie Dimension/Paranoia Revo.
I'm not even a fan of those charts, tbh, because they feel too overstepped. I like Paranoia Revo.'s

Umm... both of those can be r21/r23'ed, so I'm pretty sure they have. But it is why ITGsters get higher percentages overall. This also differs slightly between versions/variations of DDR. Good luck playing Extreme JP (for all it's gusto) and *not* filling records with AAAs within 3 days, save for MAX. (period)... or Party Collection, either.

To temporarily fix the crashing bug, all the stages that featured movies playing in the background (Mei, Vanessa, the REPLICANT-D-ACTION songs etc.) have been changed to normal stages.

I guess that's all the update is for, huh? Does it remove those stages on the other cabinets as well?

Are those movies by chance upscaled a bit? For exmaple, I know ZETA looks like junk both ripped and in-gameplay on that small stage, from experience. (Extremely noisy)

Those are just examples I chose, there are actually a handful of songs from X2 and 4 songs from X3 that had their special stages removed.

Well, I would hope it's just precautionary to keep machines from crashing/freezing up, while they troubleshoot what's causing it.
But it's possible they may not discover what it was, and just keep them scrapped, instead. I hope it's fixable, that was neat featuring the IIDX vids in the BG. I was hoping they'd consider doing that with more DDR/IIDX crossovers, too.
