According to this screenshot, a Perfect full combo becomes a AA, even if a full combo with less Great results happen. If a player fails the stage on 2 Player mode, he or she gets a D. I obtained this info from the PlayStation version of Dancing Stage Fusion.

It's KIND of interesting that they went with this scoring method whilst the PS2 counterpart went with the DDR EX US scoring method.

It's simple. It's based on Party Edition (Konamix), because it was for PS1 therefore was a lazy as hell port.

Not really DDR but I dunno where to dump this.

DJ YOSHITAKA has lots of songs related to something in common, like plants or fishes.

SEED -> Self explanatory.
FLOWER -> Self explanatory.
ALBIDA -> Most probably Laelia albida, this looks a bit like the thing on the jacket.
http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/thumb/6/6e/Laelia_albida_-_Curtis'_68_(N.S._15)_pl._3957_(1842).jpg/250px-Laelia_albida_-_Curtis'_68_(N.S._15)_pl._3957_(1842).jpg

JOMANDA -> A cultivar of dahlia.
VALLIS-NERIA -> Aquatic plant named Vallisneria.
SHION -> Japanese name for aster, specifically Aster tataricus.

And then there's...
Anisakis -> A fish parasite.
Elisha -> Has a coelacanth on the jacket but I also found this.
Evans -> Has an anglerfish on it but I can't relate the title to anglerfish. (Time for research Tongue)

Wow. Knowing this, its amazing Yoshitaka didn't make a song called Alstroemeria first.

I suppose its a subtle way of telling us he likes to fish and garden.

And MANA's pop'n character of the same name is a mermaid. Not as interesting as anything you came up with, but there you go. Still fishy.

My attempt at something passing for "interesting":
Remember how a few of the Ultramixes and Universes used the old difficulty names for foot ratings (Simple, Paramount, Catastrophic) for the ten tiers in their Challenge Modes? Except, y'know, there wasn't an official name for ten-footers back then, so they just pulled Apocalyptic out of their ass, and figured it wouldn't matter because who would possibly contradict them by that point? And then, years later, X3 comes along, with its 2nd Mix mode, and its absurd notion that there's something Revolutionary about yet another PARANOiA remix.....
[Edit: Pay no attention to me, I haven't been following X3 closely enough. It's embarrassing, especially since the actual situation is genuinely more interesting!]

For that, I presume that 2ndMIX MODE follows 2ndMIX faithfully, that it only has ratings up to 8 (and so the names).

They just gave TRIP MACHINE EVOLUTION a 9 (because it's harder than all the songs, even though it's a 16 X-scale) and PARANOiA Revolution a 10 (because it's harder than the 9). The rating names are a play on the remix name, they name the only 9 EVOLUTIONARY and the only 10 REVOLUTIONARY, although a 9 is already defined as CATASTROPHIC by 2ndMIX CLUB VERSION.

So in my opinion the Apocalyptic name doesn't contradict anything.

It's interesting, as both the Ultramix and X3 solutions are just cute throwback references too.

The "apocalyptic" rating was a meme on early DDR forums for a long time, as a way to describe the fact that there were songs like The Monster Is Coming and Uh La La La, which were harder than any of the Catastrophic songs, and early DWI files that were even harder than that. People would try to argue that they somehow fit into DDR canon, and that we, as a community had to convince Konami and/or Simwolf to incorporate a new 10-foot rating into their respective games.

Someone suggested "Apocalyptic" as a descriptive name, and since it wasobviously the dumbest possible suggestion, it caught on immediately as a tagline for people who wrote EMails to Konami every morning, demanding BMR's V be included in 5th Mix. It also caught on as a meme for DDRFreak members who made fun of the whole thing.

The meme obviously got referenced in DDR Ultramix, as a cute nod to DDRFreak. Both Jason Enos and Michael Borenstein frequented the forum, and several people members ended up creating stepcharts for the game, so I imagine it was at the request of someone involved.

The rating descriptions in 2nd Mix Mode are a bit more straightforward in their absurdity. The jump in difficulty from the hardest song in 2nd Mix (Get Up N Move) to Trip Machine Evolution is ridiculous. There's a 14 year gap inbetween the two songs, and both of the new songs are presented in such a way that songs from 14 years in the future is appearing in an engine so outdated that it makes them seem foreign. As Silverhawke said, there is no 9-foot rating at this point in DDR's evolution, so the songs just have ratings that make them look as absurd and intimidating as their steps.

Yes, I remember that. In fact my old friend who introduced me into DDR kept referring to MAX300 as "Apocalyptic" as if this is what a 10 footer in 3rd mix would be called (I was already familiar with the rating names since 3rd mix was one of my first DDR games to play.)
So seeing it as the name for the Level 10 challenges in the Ultramix games came as no surprise to me.

I don't know if this has been stated or not but. . .

TaQ's Holic has a time signatures of 7/8 for the first half of the song (wish I could give measure numbers), then 7/4 (could also still be 7/8. 7/4 is just easier to count) until the last 16 measures, where it switches to 4/4.

I always wondered why this song sounded so irregular I just never tried to sit and guess the Time Signature.

Based on eAmuse records of the top played songs over X2 and X3, the most popular song that appeared on any mix from Extreme or earlier is Max 300.

Maxx Unlimited, Paranoia Survivor Max, Legend of Max, Pluto, Pluto Relinquish, NGO, Fascination Maxx, Fascination Eternal Love Mix have never broke the top 30 on the eAmuse network as a whole except on a per machine basis at some arcades.

(Ain't no player in Asia (with some exceptions) ever play those anyway)

GRADIUSIC CYBER was on Universe 2, if I remember correctly.

EDIT: Also, perhaps Ultramix 1?
