My idea in general:
Games such as Guitar Hero have been successful in combining music with computer gaming. The proposed project is an variation of the genre aimed towards keyboard players. The general idea envisioned is that the game will be played using a MIDI keyboard peripheral as input.
The basic idea of the game is to present a musical score (from a library) to a player, with the goal being to play the score using a metronome as accurately as possible. Points are given for note accuracy and the score's complexity. Extensions of this could involve chords, two-handed simultaneous playing or replacing the metronome with an actual audio track to allow more well-known scores. A complex extension could be to create an editor to allow the user to create their own scores to audio tracks they own.
