Yes, it's this sort of ridiculous thing that gathers the negative attention.

He comes off as being pompous. So people get annoyed and simply don't want to have to deal with him. And I'm sure people do become tired from reading his posts, because although it's not his fault, the language he uses is pretty bad, and I know I find it very tiring to read through his posts.

I honestly admit that when he posted that, I read that as Rate me -5 plz. So you know what? I did.

Besides, wouldn't anyone who was mentally challenged not even admit that they have that condition? To me, with the way he's acted here (and from what I've been able to see), it makes me think that he said that just to get sympathy points from everyone, and that's something I'm not cool with. (I'm sure some of you feel the same)

I don't buy it. I know another one of those "special needs" kids on XBox Live. One day, he asked me where I usually go to talk to other DDR players, and I mentioned a couple sites, including DDR Freak.

Shortly after, he makes a thread about online play in the gameplay thread. When he gets called on it, he starts making more and more accounts and arguing his point to make it look like other people agree with him. When the thread finally gets locked, the first thing he does is jump on XBL and tell me what a bunch of assholes the entirety of DDR Freak is just because they locked his pointless thread.

Sure, maybe some of those "special needs" kids just want to fit in, but holy crap, take a hint when you're given one. And deleting a popularity thread when you get eliminated? Damn childish.

Why would anyone give you a -5 for that? Interesting information. I've never known someone myself like that who is so childish that they'd set up a bunch of accounts to fake agreements.

However, I do know some people who have very obvious physical special needs (wheelchair, etc.) who are quite selfish and probably think the way they do because they think the world should feel sorry for them being in a worse physical condition. However, it is no excuse to milk it and get tons of extra attention or anything else you want.

Some special needs kids thinks the world owes them something up and beyond how regular people are treated, that is all. Notice I said SOME there, because I know quite a few disabled kids who are kind.

Not at all Zukin-Man, and it's good for you to provide an alternate outlook on the whole thing. You're not simply flaming or insulting and you are saying it how you see it.
Besides your not stating that ALL disabled people are how you view Luckyboy, just that some like the rest of us can come across as selfish or attention seeking.


As a side note, I'm not directly defending Luckyboy's actions because some of them have quite obviously been very foolish. I was only suggesting that there might be some reasoning behind why he acts that way and maybe for some reason he doesn't even see when he's being self-absorbed.

I've seen and sometimes felt it myself, like I'd love to come on one of my forums and see that someone thinks something I've said is wise, cute or clever and then compliments me for it. It's just nice every now and then for someone to notice that you're a good person and it can give you a little boost to know that someone actually sees it.
It's definitely not something we should expect though. Attention whores are not good and saying it out loud does sound a bit pathetic, but I'd bet once or twice some of you may have felt the same.

But if Luckyboy is trying to ride on disability for attention then that's not cool, however knowing me I would take it as sincere since he's obviously proved that he has some difficulties in some way, shape or form.
Honestly I think a majority of you have been lenient about it when you probably didn't have to be. It bodes well for the community knowing how much more pleasant and open you are compared to somewhere like Bemanistyle for instance.

I'd also like to re-express my concerns over the rating system. To be honest, I rather expected this sort of thing to happen with people requesting boosts in order to make themselves feel better. Not that the system itself is a bad thing but that even I have come on and wondered sometimes what I could have done to have my rating drop by -4 overnight for no obvious reason. XD

No need to work on it. Longer posts are better IMO (that is, if the content is good enough, which this is).

And yeah, just because someone may have a mental condition doesn't mean they should be treated differently to everyone else. And the rating system doesn't matter to me. As long as it's in the green, the majority of people like your posts. If it goes into the red, it just means that you have to improve your post quality.

True, people do LIKE to have things said about them, I had my own little warm fuzzy feeling when kyzentun mentioned liking my CarmellDansen simfile a few times (), but I never really said anything of it because it's a bad idea to draw attention to yourself for the sake of getting attention; it's hard for a 11 year-old or some types of "special needs" people (LBS is both) to understand that. That's pretty much all it was.
