"Revolution"
^This, please.

ULTIMATE MOBILE is an overly complicated way to promote a BEMANI music streaming platform. It could have easily been stand-alone.

On the topic, though:
I find it hilarious that of the five albums released exclusively in UM's music player (six if you count Pro League Zero), DDR is the game that seems to have the most music from them with seven. Granted six of them are from one album, it still beats five in pop'n, two in IIDX, and apparently none in any other BEMANI game (as far as RemyWiki describes).
Of the three UM titles, the one that launched (IIDX) is not in first place. Also, SDVX has none? Not even from OVER 200 or 東方 ULTIMATE WEAPON? That is surprising.
Music is always running in my mind... Everyday, songs old and new come to mind.
...
I wonder how a DJ Hero-esque mix of an AFRONOVA medley and Fascination MAXX would sound...

"Just your average lurker."
It isn't new or ground-breaking, and literally everyone knows by now, but in EGOISM 440's Challenge chart, in the 68th measure (or measure 67 in StepMania terms, idk) in the slowdown from 800 bpm to 400, one of the arrows is placed a beat earlier than it should be rhythmatically (Is that even a word?).

That's already annoying (And an asshole move if going for PFC's/MFC'S), but that's not the main point. My question is: Why didn't they fix it?

Is it intentional for artificial difficulty? And if it was a simple mistake, why didn't they fix it???

It could have been an easy fix back in an update for 2014 or something since it was still brand new and there weren't that many scores for it, but it has now been 8 years since and it's WAY too late to change it without ruining lamps and scores...

>:(

"five minute white boy challenge"
Makes me think of the doublestep in Anthurium.

If you've played it, you'll go "mmhmm yes Quickers speaks the truth", and if you haven't played it you'll go "ewwwww whiny doublestep hater". I fucking guarandamntee that little sneaky fucker is gonna ruin your sightread.

Approximately nobody asked for this song to be included. Least popular decision by the Japanese since Nintendo released the Wii U.

Just looked at the chart, and that double step is atrocious. Having a chart that flows very nicely and then just a random double step for absoultely ZERO reason.

Does Konmai never learn???

What really rattles my nerves in current AC DDR is that NONE of the new songs with videos even use the stages that can show background videos. It's always the same boring fullscreen display, which can especially be distracting depending on the video. It's really a lot of wasted potential right there.

The stripes in this background video not smoothly looping (the last frame doesn't line up with the first frame)

It's literally. Just stripes. No complex patterns or anything and they couldn't get it to seamlessly loop. All they had to do was move it up or down a little bit. That is just completely fail and unsatisfying.

The camera angles for background dancers in DDR went to shit after SuperNOVA2. Now they just slowly pan vertically or horizontally. It gives you more time to realize the dances usually make no sense with respect to the music. It's also so far away from the character. I'm sure this was done to make the backgrounds less distracting, but I personally feel it makes them so boring. I miss how exciting it was back in SuperNOVA and even older games were it was very flashy and got you really pumped up. Just compare DDR 2ndMIX to the 2ndMIX MODE in DDR X3. You can barely even see the characters in X3! Oh well, at least we still have the Hottest Party/DDR X routines.

DDR overall has an impressive loss of personality after SuperNOVA 2. I have not been able to engage or keep up with any of the new releases at all because of it. :/ I've never been keen on the dancing stages but from what I remember, the SuperNOVA (2) dancing stages and camera angles were a lot more vibrant than in newer releases.

I personally never cared for the SN stages. I also hated the dancers being tied to the songs BPM. On the PS2 versions I turned the dancers off and set the brightness as low as it went on those games. I think the stages got better starting with X, I liked the locations. For games that had stages that weren’t locations, the Wii games were the best.

Wait, what?? Is that how you were supposed to clear the missions in Stellar Master Mode that wanted you to pass 3 songs in a row with the same character? You had to realize the characters were tied to a specific BPM?

I'm not complaining about the stages or removing the BPM based animation, DDR X onward definitely has much better stages and the animation being tied to BPM was always kinda awkward for slow or fast songs. It"s just the camera movements I really don't like. Either way DDR is long overdue for some new backgrounds. I would love something similar to DDR II/HP5.

Btw on another note, I don't like how HP4/HP5 crossovers didn't keep their Wii choreographies like the HP1/HP3 songs..

One thing that I dislike about DDR games after SN2 is they removed this dance routine (which me and a few other CS version players call Lady's dance routine) since X. It's still in the PS2 version of X and even X2 CS but from X onwards instead of this dance routine done in the video, the female characters do two male dance routines (The one with the headstand squat and I can't describe the other one) instead.

Speaking of that, I really hate how they're still using the same BORING ULTRAMIX routines in the AC releases after A. Come on, these routines are already so outdated, you'd think they'd be gone and replaced in 2022, but nope.

A bit of a controversial opinion but, I don't know, yea it's been used since 2003, but I still kind of prefer them over the dance choreographies in Hottest Party.

No I mean the characters dance to the scroll speed (BPM) of the song. So when a song has a 400 BPM section like Pluto Relinquish the characters are going nuts. On Every Day, Every Night they’re super slow. I like
It better the way it is now. The super slow movement during a stop is cool, though. I do like that.

There may be exceptions to this, but why did Konami stop making BGAs for songs? It gave each song a unique feeling when playing them, but now, lots of new songs are just slapped on with the aforementioned dance stages and generic routines. And if a song does get a BGA, it's just generic and playing in the background of the stage.

Only most licensed songs have BGAs which are taken from already existing sources. (Although this is just a logical point that I can't complain about.)

I mean, it would take a lot of time and effort (which is just going into any other game that isn't DDR), but yeah.

Now I'm not saying that stages and dance routines can't work. It's just that in itself which has gone to waste too.

1. The fact that the NTSC-U DDR CS games didn't have CDTitles, and how they were removed in general after extreme. I think having them is neat, and an immediate way of knowing a song's origin.

2. All songs by DJ Nagureo were removed from DDR, despite being present in other Bemani games (5.1.1. is the only one I can think of off the top of my head).

3. Kinda related to the last one. All but 2 club songs were removed from DDR. I guess that it's possible that they didn't meet quality standards or something, but it's a wasted opportunity to revive them (including the ones that didn't make it to extreme) with Challenge charts.

4. Removed Konami Originals (Hypnotic Crisis, Let Them Move), and CS Exclusive Bemani Crossovers (Love Is Dreaminess, Outer Limits, Something Wonderful, etc.)

I know that some people might not like some or all of the songs talked about in 3 and 4, but the more the merrier in my opinion. The pandemic seemed like a good opportunity for the devs to revive a lot of old songs in the absence of being able to create new ones, although I'm glad to see some Hottest Party revivals lately.

Oh, I'm an idiot. I forgot the animations matched the scroll rate in SuperNOVA 1 and 2.

Same. I thought once the pandemic started they might add a ton of CS songs. There's still a lot of them I want to see in an AC mix. Also the challenge charts for AM-3P, Maximizer, murmur twins, etc...
