I kinda liked the excessive use of jumps, but I also feel you may have overdone it. Also the long 16th stream was kinda long, but still a good chart.

*shrug* I thought the jumps were fine. Can I ask which jumps in particular you thought were overboard?
As for the stream... yeah, I don't normally like big difficulty spikes in my simfiles, but the stream just fit too well not to include. (Fun fact about the stream by the way, it's literally just DROP OUT's end stream but with the last five notes changed. Laughing Out Loud )

Sorry for the late response, I wanted to get a head-start on my simfile before going back and playing Round 2 files.

The jumps in m19 probably could have worked better as single freeze arrows IMO. I like what you did m22-m25, because the jumps emphasize the rhythm of the strings and the trumpet. But from m28 to m34, I think there are too many unnecessary jumps. Notice during m30-m33, the trumpet follows a different melody and rhythm, so the jumps only serve to accent the strings, which I think would work better with freeze arrows. (TBH I am being a bit nitpicky here, but it was just something I noticed when I played it through the first time). I do like the jumps toward the end of the song, because they accent the loud cymbals and make the ending run a bit more challenging (which, by removing some of the jumps beforehand, you could create a sharper contrast in difficulty to make the ending run seem more challenging).

Also, maybe for the long stream, you could replace m42-44 with short 8th jacks, like LLRRUUDD, and then finish it off with a shorter 16th stream in m45, which would make the difficulty spike a bit less crazy.

Anyway, these are just my opinions, based on what I like to see in a file. Take it with a grain of salt Happy

BPM: 64 - 128
Old DDR/ITG scale: Beginner 2 Light 4 Standard 6 Heavy 8 Challenge 9

Gotta get the Camellia fix in here~

Also, I wanted to do more stuff with slowdowns in it.

All right, let's just keep it rolling. In the words of that ol' DDR announcer: "Good, good! Keep on goin'!" (oof)

From the rhythm game Lanota.

It turns out I've accidentally created an interesting pattern in my song choices this Battle Royale; so after last round, I decided it'd be cool to tour the mobile rhythm games I've been enjoying lately, to fill the hole of not being near a good arcade where I live now. Though if I manage to make it through one more round, I plan on putting a special twist on my last pick to fit the theme...buuuut that doesn't mean I'm skimping on the current one. Just enjoy this one for starters!

(Also, the challenge chart is like an X-15, I think. It's definitely more stamina-draining than my previous challenge charts, so 10 felt a bit more fitting than 9 this time around.)

FYI, I actually finished this file before the contest even started. It just so happens that mf submitted his steps before I did.

Anyway, I was kinda hoping to save this file for the last round, but seeing the competition still remaining made me think twice about that (plus, I don't have time to step anything else at the moment). Hopefully, the song I have planned to step next round will finally make me a winner. *hint hint*

I barely got this file in on time because of my simfile procrastination. Fun story: I actually heard this song playing in my college market, and I decided then and there that it was the song I was going to step. Hope you enjoy it!

Oof, so close, yet just out of reach. Perfectly fine though, I'm just happy I made it as far as I did, doing much better than I've ever done before in Battle Battle/Immortals.

Congrats to those who have made it to the final TOP 5, I wish you all the best of luck. See you all in Summer Comp.

Append: If anyone's willing to PM me with feedback/reviews on my files from this time around (Dance Ke Legend, Got You, Dream Corridors), I'm open to finding out (because...I'm honestly still shocked at how unusually well I did this time).

P.S. I'm actually kinda relieved that I didn't make it into finals; I'm busy enough with life as it stands, so making it into finals, and somehow becoming a co-host in an upset would be sort of a double-edged sword for me.

Hooooooooooo BOY

I would like to second the fact that everything was enjoyable to play this round, and everyone involved did a really good job. (darkanine especially though, that was well-earned, I thought that was a pretty remarkable file.)

In the meantime, I've got some major steps to take care of in packaging my last big gamble......good luck, contenders!

Despite the fact that I was the one who totaled the votes, I am still absolutely astounded on how I did in this round. I was worried that I would get eliminated because I waited till the last minute to work on my simfile.

Thanks to everyone who voted for my file! If you have anything in particular that you really liked about it, please tell me! (I honestly have no idea what's so different from my other files that caused it to win). I am going to post my reviews sometime soon after I have finished formatting them.

I look forward to the competition in the final round. Good luck to the other four!

Meanwhile, a file that I thought would be my ace-in-the-hole and guarantee myself a spot in the final round ends up being the exact opposite instead. Laughing Hard

Although, I think it says a lot more about how ridiculously high the overall quality of every single file this round was, much more than I've ever seen before. I don't even remember the last time I was last place in a single round either (yes, I know BR rounds are different from other contests, but still).

welp, ggs everyone, I guess I'll see you all in SC (if I don't spend too much time playing DDR A20, that is)

edit: haha I just realized this is my 777th post too, how ironic

Well for one thing it's Snailchan Adventure. Tongue

In all seriousness though I thought for the most part the zany steps fit the zany song really well, and it was just really really fun to play. I especially loved the spins!

I do have one issue with it though; there's a couple of completely insane difficulty spikes where the chart randomly decides it wants to be a 10-footer and chucks these crazy 16th streams at the player - once during the Deadgroove boss battle and again at the very end. I mean, I get Deadgroove's dance steps are stupid ridiculous and it'd be a funny nod to the music video to have one part of the simfile completely troll the player, I just wouldn't do it in a serious chart. (That being said, I'm mildly disappointed that there wasn't a joke Edit chart that was completely normal until Deadgroove shows up and then it suddenly became an X-Scale 37 or something Laughing Out Loud ). Great stuff otherwise.

It's funny you say that, because the difficulty spike are there precisely because of the Deadgroove dance battle. I originally had it so in each chart, when Deadgroove was dancing in the video, the steps were replaced by fakes sectioned off by mines, and then when it says Your Turn, it would repeat the same pattern as the fakes, but with real arrows. The idea was that you would get practice for the hard section before you actually had to do it, and it would mimic the dance battle in the background vid.

But then I decided that most people wouldn't understand why there was a randomish fake section in the middle of the chart, so I last minute decided to replace the steps with just a normal pattern. I didn't have time to remove the difficulty spike, so I just left it in there.

Also, about the last difficulty spike: yeah, I have a habit of putting crazy hard (comparatively) sections at the end of my charts. If you don't believe me, see my simfile PLS GO FAST. I kinda like ending on a hard note, but perhaps I should tone it down a bit.

I had literally no other ideas (at the time) except for, like, maybe a restep of BATTLE BREAKS. What am I gonna do :x

But I do agree, perhaps not the most original entry. x)
